I'm not a boom op, but even I can see that this is probably the best thing to come out of NAB this year. Sure there are plenty of more things that captured the hype. But the reality is, the made something super simple, super effective, and super needed. Looks easy to use. Doesn't have so many unnecessary mechanical pieces that will break. It allows so many options. It is a shame the flashy stuff gets all the attention.
I have tried it. The system is great for a film or dedicated boom op -but has a major flaw in its design . The attenuation of the boom is mounted on the back of the system where i have to take it off and adjust the tension , thus taking the bag off , adjusting the weight and putting it back on eleminating the benefits of the system.Its just not designed for eng and documentary work. The bag holder is flimsy at best and seems more like an after thought . Inwould like an attachment to control the attenuation of the boom arm at the front ... other then that its great for a narrow role....
We have been waiting for something like this for years. We tried the boom uperator but that wasn't that good and actually broke on us. The Tilta Zombie Rig was never released even though it was announced a while ago.
If you wanted the functionality of the wheel cueing the mic back and forth and would like the weigh off your arms, you can buy a Boom Swinger. It’s a great $38 piece of gear that I recommend.

Heck I'd use this with my Tilta ring and DJI gimbal as well. Hopefully It'll have enough tension to do that.
Didnt Tilta or some other Chinese company release exactly such a rig for boom ops last year?
