The Unit just gave hope to the winners and then left them to die, no promotions, no comebacks, nothing... I'm gratefull bacuse I saw new talented idols like Hyosung but I'm still mad about everything that came after.
I felt like they had regular comebacks but they just didn't have the fans since the show didn't get popular at all unfortunately and they left an amazing discography and the contestants were compensated. The promotion wasn't that good though. They were barely promoted after the unit and I'm sad about that.
UNB was ok. they promoted a lot while they lasted and released 2 albums. The company really tried hard to make UNB work but they didn't have enough fans. I agree for the girls though, the girls had no promotion and very bad MVs
@@Sophya7 yeah, UNB at least had tours in Japan, they even held a goodbye concert before disbanding. They won a couple of awards too, and their sales were a lot better than Uni.T's. I wish both groups were managed better and became more popular, but what's done is done :(

It was clear that there wasn't any favoritism in THE UNIT and as a viewer, it was easy and entertaining to watch it. The contestants weren't mean and selfish and weren't used by the staff or director to create a bad person drama. Even the competition among them was a good and lovely kind of competition. Speaking about THE UNIT, I have no other choice but to compare it with MIXNINE as it was running at a relatively similar time and also was a survival show. I stopped watching MIXNINE after a few episodes, even though it had the A.C.E boys that I love. The editing was nasty and made me hate some of the trainees till now. It made the trainees look like slaves for winning and the show felt very YG oriented, like I felt he was shown as if he's the real star of the show, not the trainees and that's why THE UNIT is better. Even when it had real famous artists as teachers and judges, the show didn't make them the center of attention. It rather focused on the contestants.

I mean, it's true he is competitive but because he always works really hard but he is not recognized as he should. And The Unit made him look like he was always competing with Feeldog and Euijin... But yes, it's true that all the trainees were very supportive of each other. I also didn't watch MIXNINE. I stoped after episde 2. I'm a huge fan of YG but I noticed that he was really trying to make it his show... I didn't become interested in any trainee in particular.
i hated mixnine because yg made loona cry and You Just DON’t DO That. You don’t do that to my CHILDREN I only watched two episodes of the unit but I liked it a lot
I honestly loved Mixnine, everyone was pretty encouraging and bonded with each other within their own gender groups, and it was shorter but also showed the hardworking trainees more. For me, the Unit favored certain people screentime/focus-wise and was too long.
True but it wasn't just because of Koreans, the groups didn't exist enough time, they didn't have that many chances and the company didn't invest properly on them anyway, the talent that they had it's not enough to succeed, their company needs to promote them in a smart way, especially if they weren't to exist for that many time (particularly the girls since at least the boys were more promoted)
Hyosun was definitely my favorite contestant on the UNI+ (Jo Hyun Ah was my favorite mentor). I was so impressed by her entrance at the audition carrying in her own damn seat. At the time, I wrote a piece comparing Hyosun to Sarah Conner from the Terminator. And I also made a fan art featuring Hyosun in UNI+ uniform and "Crazy" costume and Rui in MIXNINE uniform and "Boombayah" costume.
Hyosun is such a cutie pie haha, and the tea that she served about dating and the girls being all over her was rather what I expected kind of xD I mean, she's so cool!
The Uni+ is the best survival show out of all survival shows, sadly it wasn't as popular as the others. And wasn't that successful huhu. I really love UNB TT
I actually never even thought that there are favoritism in the unit. the coach was also very encouraging. But i was actually really shocked when euna and semmi did not make it to top 9. anyway, it feels like all elimination on the Unit though is really regretting since there are a lot of talented individuals but they're not that famous. 😢

First I love Hyosun from the unit till this day I hope she is doing well with her group H.U.B with Rui from Mix Nine and I'm so glad that she is in contact with Kim from Rubber soul because I really like her from the show and I didn't know if she was still an idol or not I hope she is doing well too anyway
The unit is my fav survival show and i like how it showcased idols who have already debuted bc there are lots of groups that arent able to get much exposure but have amazingly talented artists

The Unit is what made me start appreciating kpop music. Honestly, I never watched survival shows like produce and mixnine because I heard a lot about it from friends that it was strict and toxic but I gave this a try and I loved it. Even though it was still a competition, I felt that it was one of the most friendly show that still brought the element of drama and entertainment. I never realized favoritism but I did wish that some people were given more recognition than the rest. I was also disappointed that Unit G and UNB were not given a lot of promos and recognition especially since they only had a one year contract. I wish they debuted for a longer time and that more people were able to appreciate them. Maybe another season of The Unit? ;)

I think it would be really interesting to hear Park Bom, in particular. I've read a lot of people's opinions, but I'd like to hear more of her side of things, as I've often felt she got kind of a raw deal and a lot of hate for things that seemed unfair to me.

The unit was a pretty chill survival show honestly... it was so unproblematic, everyone had time to shine, there were no evil editing and controveries. They also took care of everything well, there was even a scene wherein the boys were running away from the girls because it wasn't allowed lol. They seperated the boys and girls in a nice way there weren't any problems with them making a survival show with both gender. Hyosun and Hyunjoo's friendship is really cute lolol
I got to meet H.U.B 2 weeks ago and they are so amazing and so down to earth! Hyosun I have loved for a while and getting to meet her in person I nearly passed out LOL
To be honest, The Unit was probably if not one of the best, maybe the best, survival korean show out there. Why? Because in other survival shows, looks are everything. If you watch several survival shows its either the most popular or the most handsome are the ones who will survive. But in the unit you can clearly tell that the survivors are purely talented and actually had potential. I hope they make another season for the unit though. I've been waiting
Hi Grace! Thanks for another great video. I was happy to see you covering The Uni+ with Hyosun. The Uni+ was a much better survival show than people give it credit for. That opening number they did for "My Turn" was both impressive visually and a really good song as well. I think where The Uni+ went off the rails is by including people like actors who were never idols but wanted a shot at the music business.

I love these "behind the scenes" type features you do on your channel, and these interviews that you do with people in the industry are done very well. It's my favorite part of your channel! I'd love to see more, possibly interviews with kpop stylists, makeup artists, etc. Not only the people we see in Kpop, but those who have a part in bringing the whole package together!

The Unit was such a good show. The issue what I have seen is that at the time Koreans didnt take too kindly with having young 3rd Gen who recently debuted, 14 year olds, and non Idols being on a show they thought was going to be more focused on older 1st and 2nd Gen Idols who will resurface. But what really annoyed them was the UNB Picks, they thought UNB was all over the place and some really didnt deserve to be there, like Marco, Kijung, and Chan who already debuted that same year and left fan favorites like Donghyun and Timoteo out of the lineup. They seemed to have less issue with Uni.T however. Plenty of Fans were content with most of the picks like Yang Jiwon, Woohee, Yoonjo etc. What really was the death sentence imo, was KBS giving the Contracts of Uni.T and UNB to MBK Ent. MBK is a shit company and through terrible management, screwed over lots of their Idols. Yang Jiwon initially left them back in 2009 after disputes, before she was going to debut with T-ara. Imagine her and their surprise when she was with them again. Maybe their was still some grudge there as MBK only gave Uni.T 5 months and no promotion before disbanding. Not even giving them the minimum 7 months promised. UNB was given a little better promotion but only lasted about a year before disbanding. So yea, the "disliked" group of the 2, UNB, was still given a better chance by MBK and left the "liked" girl group Uni.T to die because of backstage politics. The Unit was a great show, they legitimately tried to help the Idols and didnt really create any WWE type drama for Ratings, nor favoritism. The mentors took a step back and gave the whole Unit as much public appearances as possible. A 2nd Season could be even better. Sadly their are too many failed Kpop Idols out there that need another chance. Please give The Unit a 2nd Season (and the winning groups to sign with a reputable Label)!

That's why I like The Unit, it's non toxic, and no favoritism. Even though there are some twists in the final group, but rewatch the program again, we didn't get bad feeling to the contestants

It proves that the incident wasn't scripted, as her supporters had claimed. Hyunjoo did slander her and made her cry in frustration. I doubt if they are still friends though. She knew what hyunjoo is capable of. She has had a firsthand experience of hyunjoo's mind games, and it wasn't pleasant. Staying away from ppl like hyunjoo would be best for her.
out of all the survival shows, i always rewatch the unit, it'll always be one of my faves. the groups that came out of it and the show itself is so understand but it's one of the least toxic and well managed, especially having the guys and girls together which hasn't been done, respect for rain putting the unit together !!
I was cheering for her so hard back on the show. She had great presence and her moves on the stage were amazing. But she was also so cute off stage! A hardworking cutepie! I am glad to be seeing her again and wish her success! It's a pity the show wasnt a big hit, because it was amazing to watch such talented idols work hard and create good stages and giving their best. I miss it.

The unit is the most unproblematic survival show ever. The contestants can knowing each other very well, no diet restrictions, no evil editing. But ofc the koreans looove to watch some beef don't they. That's why evil editing still exist in some programs.

Fierce is a good thing. I think the judges who said that were letting themselves be biased, wanted her to be at the most "fierce but really dainty" like a kpop idol

Hi Grace! Thanks for another great video. I was happy to see you covering The Uni+ with Hyosun. The Uni+ was a much better survival show than people give it credit for. That opening number they did for "My Turn" was both impressive visually and a really good song as well. I think where The Uni+ went off the rails is by including people like actors who were never idols but wanted a shot at the music business.

I love these "behind the scenes" type features you do on your channel, and these interviews that you do with people in the industry are done very well. It's my favorite part of your channel! I'd love to see more, possibly interviews with kpop stylists, makeup artists, etc. Not only the people we see in Kpop, but those who have a part in bringing the whole package together!
Hyoseon is so pretty in a cool way. In contrast of her physical appearance she have a soft personality and she knows how to play with the younger members of the Unit(she's part of the youngers tho😂)

OMG HYOSUN YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFULLLL
The Unit was such a good show. The issue what I have seen is that at the time Koreans didnt take too kindly with having young 3rd Gen who recently debuted, 14 year olds, and non Idols being on a show they thought was going to be more focused on older 1st and 2nd Gen Idols who will resurface. But what really annoyed them was the UNB Picks, they thought UNB was all over the place and some really didnt deserve to be there, like Marco, Kijung, and Chan who already debuted that same year and left fan favorites like Donghyun and Timoteo out of the lineup. They seemed to have less issue with Uni.T however. Plenty of Fans were content with most of the picks like Yang Jiwon, Woohee, Yoonjo etc. What really was the death sentence imo, was KBS giving the Contracts of Uni.T and UNB to MBK Ent. MBK is a shit company and through terrible management, screwed over lots of their Idols. Yang Jiwon initially left them back in 2009 after disputes, before she was going to debut with T-ara. Imagine her and their surprise when she was with them again. Maybe their was still some grudge there as MBK only gave Uni.T 5 months and no promotion before disbanding. Not even giving them the minimum 7 months promised. UNB was given a little better promotion but only lasted about a year before disbanding. So yea, the "disliked" group of the 2, UNB, was still given a better chance by MBK and left the "liked" girl group Uni.T to die because of backstage politics. The Unit was a great show, they legitimately tried to help the Idols and didnt really create any WWE type drama for Ratings, nor favoritism. The mentors took a step back and gave the whole Unit as much public appearances as possible. A 2nd Season could be even better. Sadly their are too many failed Kpop Idols out there that need another chance. Please give The Unit a 2nd Season (and the winning groups to sign with a reputable Label)!

It proves that the incident wasn't scripted, as her supporters had claimed. Hyunjoo did slander her and made her cry in frustration. I doubt if they are still friends though. She knew what hyunjoo is capable of. She has had a firsthand experience of hyunjoo's mind games, and it wasn't pleasant. Staying away from ppl like hyunjoo would be best for her.
out of all the survival shows, i always rewatch the unit, it'll always be one of my faves. the groups that came out of it and the show itself is so understand but it's one of the least toxic and well managed, especially having the guys and girls together which hasn't been done, respect for rain putting the unit together !!
I loved The Unit because that was the show that make me fall for kpop (and my bias Rockhyun from 100%)

I was cheering for her so hard back on the show. She had great presence and her moves on the stage were amazing. But she was also so cute off stage! A hardworking cutepie! I am glad to be seeing her again and wish her success! It's a pity the show wasnt a big hit, because it was amazing to watch such talented idols work hard and create good stages and giving their best. I miss it.

The unit is the most unproblematic survival show ever. The contestants can knowing each other very well, no diet restrictions, no evil editing. But ofc the koreans looove to watch some beef don't they. That's why evil editing still exist in some programs.
Also not cheesy cringe things, the unit are the only survival program i watch cause there's a lot of mature ppl also more like hip-hop survival and their friendship are amazing either, still can't move on to that program, i think even though there's season 2 of the unit i don't think i Will like it 😀

Fierce is a good thing. I think the judges who said that were letting themselves be biased, wanted her to be at the most "fierce but really dainty" like a kpop idol

Yes Hyosun!! What a babe. Loving that Nari positivity too, because I felt that the Unit didn't portray her in a particularly positive light. Also Hyosun is right about everyone cheering each other on across the genders, that definitely came across too, it was really nice. The Unit was definitely my favourite survival show; I just wish it had been more viewed!!!

Hyosun is the main reason I watched the unit. It was refreshing to see someone different like her. She is an amazing performer and I’m glad I got to see her on the show.
