Even a year later after you've uploaded this, my wife and I have been watching this specific resort videos, and came across your channel, and watched ALL of them. You helped us make our decision, and we decided to go! The rooms being dirty isn't too much of a problem for us, as we plan on staying outside majority of the time, though also, hopefully by now the rooms have been updated a bit? Anyways... just wanted to say thank you! Such detailed information you provided for us, and your full walkthrough of the resort was done perfectly!!! Well done!
This is an awesome response. You nailed it! I have stayed at hotels that disappointed and dealt with it simply because I did not plan to stay in the room or on property. The room or property was to take a shower and sleep. That is a great outlook. Thank you for watching, your kind words, and have a blast. Btw, you may be lucky to end up in one of the renovated rooms. If you see the other videos, you may notice that renovations were taking place and this was ovwr a year ago.
Yes yes. They stop offering that maybe 4 years ago. I told the front desk that there people who bath. For my family, we usually take rags and all but still not everyone does that. They haven’t update those rooms since it was built. They have stains all over that place. Yes the toilet and sometimes the air conditioner is loud. Your review is spot on

again you were on the luxury side you would not have that problem. you get what you pay for.
bit true if you sign up to Bahia-principe app you see what's going on. learn things and ask questions before you go on vacation and ask questions before you give false reviews. you can sign up for all these things prior to getting to the hotel. All my Restaurant reservations and activities were sign up 10 days prior to getting there. yep stopp it . u stay where kids are it will be some bumps and stains.
I always travel with my own towel and wash cloth never want to use what other people use before and also my beach towels never use hotel toweled I Tavel with my own pillows too ...I know what goes on with those things

I’m taking notes and I thank you both (and baby 😆) for your honest review. I agree with honestly all of the “subjective” negatives because resorts and hotels are meant to be a total care of guest’s needs- wash cloths/ face towels included.
The mold is a non-negotiable health risk; I hope the resort PR departments are watching this because mold is a turn off. People have anaphylactic reactions to mold!

Baby wanted to tell you: ‘you are welcome’ lol. We agree, the mold issue definitely needs to be addressed ASAP. Hopefully, it’s not in all the other rooms.
Appreciated your unbiased opinions. Well done! my only observation is that many properties suffered during COVID and are just trying to recover. With that in mind, I would give them a pass on some of the negatives. I'm sure those issues will be addressed and, no doubt, the price point will similarly reflect the upgrades.

I was at Bahia in September 2021 with my family and we were not impressed. The rooms were ok but the hallway to the rooms were dark in some areas and the carpets were dirty and stink. Some parts of the interior smelt like mould. The exterior property was beautiful. The buffet was ok but we preferred the food at the restaurants the most. The staff were friendly and pleasant.

Must say the place is so huge it takes a lot to maintain.
Staff and contractors treated us like crap if we didn’t do as they asked, trips, spas etc.
It’s a shame they treated the other people first and better than us there.
We were on the luxury adult side
Grenada 🇬🇩& the Riu Montego Bay 🇯🇲showed us more love and we were all treated as one ☝️there.

I am thinking of going to this hotel with my best friend in the next few weeks, and I enjoyed watching your video … I now know what to look out for. But I am afraid if I am put in a room in the same condition with mould, I wouldn’t be there long!! aid be straight back to Reception and asking them to move me. You can put up with a few nuisances but mould and stained, dirty carpets are not acceptable. Brilliant video, many thanks from across the pond in the UK 💜

My Husband and I stayed there two years in a row 2016/ 2017, and we also had a ocean front view. We had no issues with our room. As far as towels we always travel with our own facecloth/ hand towels I honestly don’t like to use the towels in the hotels . I am actually booked to go between April 12-19 . Now I am curious to see how thing have changed since the last time we were there.

@@dinextadventure , so as promised I am going to give you my honest review after completing my third trip at the resort. I was there from April 12-19th, and I did notice the level of service have deteriorated. There was quite a few times where no one came over to our table to ask us if we needed anything. There was a particular night when one of the servers was entertaining some of guest of a different hue and ignored us totally. My nephew ask him for a glass of water when he passed our table, but because he was so busy with the persons of a different hue he forgot. Needless to say I brought it to his attention. Another issue we had the safe in our room didn’t work, and there was no towels in our room. I had to go to the front desk and ask for some towels and one of the front desk staff had to go to the laundry himself and dragged a bag of towels back to the front. I honestly think good management is lacking. There was still other deficiencies I noticed, but too many to mention.

Maybe Jamaicans aren't bothered about things like wash cloth and towels. They ask the guest for feedbacks, they would make the improvements. I notice that there wasn't any ramps for disabled people.

Thanks for the sub! Oh wow! Thank you so much for watching and making an informed decision. Let us know where you ended up deciding to stay. Also, see if the luxury side may appeal to you more. It is not much more expensive and appears cleaner. This will also give you the opportunity to stay over the luxury and venture over the 'regular side' for other things. Did not stay there but the brief tour looks a lot cleaner. Smaller, but cleaner.

Yep! I think they are aware and the renovations will hopefully address some of these things.
I stayed at the Bahia in July and November of last year. In July everything was great the food, room the hospitality didn't have any complaints. When I went back in November the only issues I had was the "wash cloth" issue smh. I guess somewhere between July and November they decided to do away with the washcloths. And the other was the fact that they weren't performing the covid test for free anymore for guest who stayed 3 days and longer.
I am suppose to be going back there in July and from your video I KNOW I'm going to have another issue, and that's going to be with the buffet.
Both times I was there they had the staff serving the food, it made thing much better and kept the food stations clean(which b4 covid I felt buffet places needed to do that cause ppl will play up inna di food and do all kinds tings). Can't believe they have gone back to self serve. I was going them serving would be the one thing that would remain permanent. I watched the video and the food stations just look a mess smh.

Were you able to find somewhere to take your COVID test ? If so, where ? I am traveling there soon and I will 100% need a COVID test to return so would like a suggestion if possible
@@taniacastro8858 Hi Tania. Yes, the hotel provides Covid testing for guest on the property (at least they did when I was there). The cost is approximately $40 (it use to be free, but now there's a charge). When you check in just ask the associate where to go to schedule your test. If the hotel is no longer providing testing I'm sure they will be able to direct you to a center off-site. Hope this helps. Have an AWESOME trip!

Good honest cons and pros video brother. We're due to be going here in November and will be staying on the luxury side. Hopefully many of those annoyances will be resolved by then. We stayed here in November 2019 with a bunch of adult friends and had a super time. Admittedly, most of the time we were out of the room! :) Keep the reviews coming guys, you do a great job.
Thanks much for those kind words, Donovan. Great idea to stay by the luxury side. You will not have security stopping you from venturing over the 'regular side' either. So you can nail both at one cost. Clear luxury side and amenities for both ;)
I love your review. I took my kids here pre pandemic and loved it. The updating and towline issues were there but not an issue for our overall experience. We have booked again and arrive in 24 days and can’t wait.

I am so sorry that you did not get a wash cloth and that house keeping said they don't give wash cloth. I was just there and we have plenty of wash cloth and towel. We were given fresh towels daily.
Towel cards are a no brainer, this keeps guest accountable and not just leaving things where ever they like to. There are plenty of towel huts and you are one person why do you need more than one towel. If it is dirty or wet you can return and get them changed. Again I have to comment because of my experience and my other family that have visited on numerous times.
Next time speak to someone in charge, hope next time it's better.
You are right when it comes to the indoor lighting. Really my friend a heated pool, where in the Caribbean, where you from again. I can understand in a cold country. Yes lots of stairs I feel you on that one. Thanks for sharing your experiences though. Good luck next time.

It did get a little annoying especially with the towel count and the towel hut location. Very frustrating to anyone. AGREED! Carrying the baby felt like a workout around the property and those stairs. lol

Mmmm...I went there in 2007 or 2008 when they just opened and it was FABULOUS...went back last year and I was so disappointed.....the outside as you said is great the rooms though that's another story and it once was a luxury hotel now it's a everybody and miss mattie hotel. I am definitely not going back there, wished I had just savoured the first experience. I really enjoyed this video though guys....you guys need to do more property tours 👍👍👍👍

I am from Montreal, Canada and I love your beautiful country, your culture, your people , your MUSIC, your food, your ocean.....I can go on!!! I have only been there twice.... 1st time at the Sunset In Ocho Rios (it was run down but we loved it) which is now The Moon Palace a fancy schmancy hotel lol. 2nd time was the Grande Palladium which we LOVED but it is now ridiculously expensive . We take all inclusive which includes the air fare. I travel with a close friend....2 women at the tender age of 65!!!! hahahaha I sneak her away from her hubby. Anyway it's been 8 years!!!! We are looking to go back in October for 14 days. Bahia is reasonable.....where else do you recommend ? We love the beach and a room with an ocean view!!!! Everything I am researching is too expensive or not great reviews....Holiday Inn Resort, Montego Bay and Royal Decameron. Thank you!!!! My condolences to the person's funeral you went to. OneLove
Thank you so, so much for your kind words and we so appreciate you watching. An alternative is the Royalton White Sands, just outside of Montego Bay. We did a few videos of our experience there as a family as well as a full tour. Check our videos, when you have a chance, for that review and tour. We had a great time and planned to go back there, unlike Bahia. However, note that although Bahia disappointed in many areas, as a family outside of the room, using the pool and the beach, we honestly had a great time. So if you go with an open mind regarding the negatives we addressed, so that they don't surprise you, you guys can have a great time at a bargain. The beach and pool are so much fun. Nightly entertainment on the beach didn't really disappoint.

The lighting is also great! It’s a hotel so the ambiance is the goal - no too much bright light. The lighting in the bathroom is enough to apply makeup
That's your opinion and we respect it. However, makeup had to be done by the sliding door and this is a fact. Bathroom was had mold and had funny smell anyway as I clearly showed in another video. So who wants to stay in there breathing?

Just came back from Bahia Principe and I wished I watched this before going. Similar experience but we had a little better room- no mold or bad mirror but we still had to shake the toilet knob to stop the running water. Oh and the wifi device in our room had an extremely bright light that I had to cover with a bag to get some sleep.

I am a member of the Bahia, and we have travelled to Jamaica 3 times... we have complained about the carpets every time. They did mention that it was going to be taken care of. I will be there in 2 weeks, and will check it out and discuss it at our meeting

I mean, you get what you pay for. Can't expect luxury at that price point. They provided a roof, food and amenities. And besides the one roach and the mold, you did say the place was clean. That's enough for some people. I didn't want to keep going to riu, but I guess I will.
Fair enough in saying you get what you pay for. Personally, we were in Jamaica for another reason. So we just went there to pass the time and booked last minute. I stay there August 2023 with my wife and two kids. My 7 year old got sick and I went to the dinning hall and they would not allow me to leave with any food I just wanted to get some soup for my son. I had to make a big fuss and another manager had to escort me to the buffet. That night my wife and daughter had dinner together and then I went down after they came back I did not like that and will not stay there again.

I had none of this issues you had. Towels were a non-issue even though they give 1 per person. My room was great with no noise.

We have another tour of the property itself which may better suit you if you are interested in seeing the entire property with no judgement. You are right, the negatives are easy to deal with because the property has so much potential. It is beautiful and would be even better once everything is addressed.
My daughter and friends went there last year October and surely will not be going back. The young man that checked us in was rude and he gave us nothing but attitude. The food was horrible, both of us have high blood pressure and the food was so salty sometimes it tasted sour. The juices taste like cool aid, entertainment was basically non existent. The property is huge as such, we had to walk very far in the sun to get to where you want. The room was ok, the bathroom was lovely. The staff, not very pleasant. The good about the hotel are: the property is beautiful, the pools are good only that the water is cold, we had more than enough towels and rags, the rooms are clean, we got a big king sized bed and it was comfy, the beach was awesome and that was it. We will not be going back to the grand but might try the luxury

I honestly hated this resort. The luxury side was closed when I went in July 22. And we weren’t told until arrival. We were expecting an adult only luxury vacation. Our room was very out dated and had mold everywhere. No wash cloths and the rugs in the hall were very nasty. The outside of the property was nice.

The larger the hotel on the island the dirty it is. The more distant they are from public transportation they dirty they are. Why? The maids don't have transportation to get to those facilities so they don't have enough staff to keep the place clean. People would have to take a bus then a taxi to get to work. They don't pay enough for people to do that. Tip guys look how close a property is to city center on any island before booking. These places don't have employee's shuttle.
As for mold the construction on these large hotels is poor. The material they use was poor quality. They didn't follow code. Many people working on these site died during the constructions. One large hotel had an electrical fire after completion in Jamaica. They are operating still but on 2 separate occasions I know of people who saw fire from the sockets in their rooms. They were given a different room. These people didn't know each other. Beware of these new all inclusive popping up on the island.

I’m a new travel advisor and going on Monday, 8/29 checking out 9/1 to spy out the property. Certainly hope I don’t experience these issues! Oh my and let’s hope the carpet has been changed out and if I see one flying waterbug…I want my money back! I’ve stayed at RIU Ocho Rios and recently stayed at Ocean Eden Bay with access to Ocean Coral Springs. Enjoyed them both with minor issues. Did you mention the check in or did I miss it? We agree! We were told that they have many properties in the DR. Googled and they do indeed. Definitely looks great in pics but this one experience would turn anyone off completely from the brand.

We’ve never stayed at the grand section - we’ve always stayed at the upgraded side - Don Pablo luxury - this was before they completed the “Luxury” section. So they have 3 sections but now it appears they have 2 sections including the luxury side. You could have asked to change your room and they would have changed it - they’d even give you an upgraded room that’s perfect if you had asked to speak with a manager. If I was staying at a hotel, I voice my concerns if I’m not satisfied with something and I’d tell them what I expect. I’d do that first - give them my feedback and hopefully they assess the situations and fix them. Overall, it’s a great hotel - I never repeat a hotel if it’s gross or poor service and I’ve been to this hotel several times because most things were just “perfect”. The staff is also great! That carpet is very dirty and should be removed. Roaches are usually present where there is moisture and heat so that no surprise - it’s not the fault of the hotel. They accommodate your events for free - decor for birthdays etc - room service in white gloves, breakfast in bed, etc. Based on your property tour, they’ve made several upgrades and renovations since 2016. They didn’t have a kids water park when I was last there in January 2017.
We stayed at the Grand Section and this was JANUARY 2022. We had a child and were not allowed to book the luxury side. So Grand it was. Note that your stays are different from ours. Two different areas which resulted in two completely different experiences.

The adult side is much better than the main site. Enjoy
The regular side can get a little wild. However, keep in mind that as a member of the adult side, you can easily walk over to the regular side and enjoy everything just the same. So two birds with one stone. It is not like there are barriers are security blocking you from the luxury/adult side. Going from the regular to the luxury side, however, that does not work.
I'm so glad I watched this video now I was planning a vacation for me and my 11 yr old for the summer now I'm second guessing. No wash cloths dirty carpet mold ugh but i love the pool and beach so i dont know what to do.

Bahia has loads of potential but due to its size, I think it needs much more efforts to maintain and upgrade. It's overwhelmingly large. Biggest but worse hotel we have visited globally with regards to room condition and believe me when I say we have been to a lot.

We stayed there and if they were giving away a free trip to that hotel you couldn't pay me to stay there again..its a huge hotel and because it so huge its not run well.
The listed of issues we had with this hotel is too long to listed. There was a smell coming from the bathroom that smelt like sewage. It was so bad my husband had to use towels to cover the drain in the shower. We got stuck in the elevator...and the list goes on and on...we wrote a letter to the hotel about our experience and they didn't take responsibility of the issues....people/companies need to understand that 99.99 percent of the time it's not about compensation its about we are SORRY and what can we do better and how can we fix this..
I never gave thought to this notion until you and someone else said it. It makes sense. They can't keep up with such a huge property. Need a lot more staff to keep up.
Can you imagine the amount of money that they make. The basic is $240.00 a night. Something to think about. Jamaican women usually love to bring thier own stuff. I always bring my own wipes. But not my speed here. They should have at least 10 towel huts. Naaaah. Many other choices
Nailed it! Property is way too big to walk 10 - 15 minutes just for a towel.

I won't advice anyone to waste their money n stay there. I live here n won't stay there muchless, it cheap but they service sucks. They don't sell service only rooms. It's moldy and smelly, roaches etc. Charge u for things that were supposed to be in ur package. Endless of complaints from guests, the hotel is huge pretty but don't be fooled, it's not worth the stress.. the staffs beg u for money outright and make u uncomfortable, the toilet overflows alots..

Yes. They have music and entertainment during the days at the pool. Also, they have entertainment at nights. Have a great trip. If you treat the room as just somewhere to sleep and shower, you can have a great time outdoors. Lol

I booked a 6 night stay and left after 2. The towel thing, outrageous. so basically dry all your privates but don't wash your face. 😂 The toilet overflowed and as far as I know still is, as no one came by the time I packed my entire room and headed to the front desk. For those reasons, you can't sell me on "luxury" next door. 🤣

I experienced the towel hut at the Fountainbleau in Miami! I hated it! Lol. Would you say that this hotel is equivalent to Sandals in Mobay?
Oh NOOOO! Definitely not. Not comparable to a Sandals. I have not been to all but this hotel is not on that level. Beautiful property as it relates to the grounds but most other things are way off the mark.
The entertainment schedule is not true its all over the property I work their there are hundreds of posters

Good video but I've learned from experience that large all inclusive resorts with cheap rates will attract undesirable crowds that will downgrade the place. Avoid the Bahia and Rui

You can use the elevator with the stroller and take the walkway down to the restaurants - you don’t have to take the stairs
The elevators were not convenient and there is nothing you can say to take away from the fact that it is a lot of walking and there are a lot of stairs. we have the bahia aquamarine booked for early may. we stayed at the riu in cabo and it was fun. free drinks. we had to have a towel card also and my wife couldn't wear her bathing suit top in the regular restaurants..

I’m here now checked in 3 hours ago and wish I didn’t book here because this place needs renovations the room is old and there is an odor in the bathroom like sewer I had to spray air freshener and rust in the shower also can’t get a reservation to any restaurant all booked already I went to a bar by the beach and gave me a dirty glass with a lipstick mark on it they also don’t give straws according to that bartender I booked because the price was very low guess you get what you pay for glad I’m not staying more than 2 nights disappointed!!
Oh my! We are so, so sorry to read this. You are correct. The property is very affordable and pictures are attractive for the price. Bahia pays travel sites to push their ads at the top of pages too. So it is easy to get drawn in by the price and property pics. I hope it can turn around.Please remember to help us with a subscription ;)
This place is gross. mold in bathrooms which have no vents. Only 2 plugs in room, one being in bathroom and other for coffee maker... food sucks. Pool closes at 6:30pm....

It sounds like these all inclusive places have problems and risks because there are so many guests coming and going. They can't keep up, and they are unable to do the highest levels of maintenance and housekeeping. Mold, bedbugs, dirt, etc....
Honestly, it's rare. This one, in particular, has lots of problems and I do believe it's because of the size od the property and the staff. We have been to many others and didn't experience 95% of the things we mentioned as negatives.

Thinking about changing to the Luxury section as the Grand is not so impressive. But if you can recommend somewhere better let me know.
I definitely recommend switching to the Luxury side. Without a doubt, go for it. It is way cleaner and nicer. Personally, I also liked the Royalton White Sands but only for the rooms with the swim out pools. Also, the RIU in Ocho Rios is a great stay. Great food! Great entertainment! Great staff! Clean rooms! Decent Beach and closer to tours and excursions in Ocho Rios.

I suggest you stay in Montego Bay. Montego Bay, at this time, will trump Kingston for the combination of relaxation, beach and fun. Montego Bay for you please! And it is much prettier and memorable.

@@dinextadventure Your advice turned out to be very helpful. I originally had booked a stay at Bahia Principe, but even though I checked in 5 days prior, there were no dining options available nor double bed rooms available. So I cancelled and decided to stay at the RIU instead. The experience was much smoother and I had a great time!

Hey Cora, we had a standard room with a king bed and ocean view.
Where did you get your car rental
We usually rent at the airport. Nothing special. Just run it through Budget. On rare occasions, we may ask a family member to lend us a car if there is a spare available and give them whatever compensation they ask for. It saves money but very risky. So I suggest sticking with the airport.
Which side of the hotel did you stayed on?
We stayed on the regular side but we did a private tour of the Luxury side. Was informed the Luxury side is adults only and we had the baby with us.

Hotel prices vary based on the time of the year, room type etc. We booked on Expedia for approximately $200 a night for an ocean view room. Someone commented that the hotel had a discount on their website for a little over $100usd a night PP.
I’ve stayed at this hotel 10x. That’s not true about they not giving washcloths, hand towels, etc.
Your experience was clearly different. We spoke truthful about ours. If you have time, scroll through the comments and you will see confirmation of this. Many others went and confirmed.

I truly believe the size of this place overwhelms the staff with maintenance. It is truly massive and unacceptable to most people.
