The ability to buy an expensive ev is a flex on its own. You're rich AND you care about the eNvIrOmEnT and shietsssss. You're literally a moral model for the whole world to see.
@@オルフェーヴルの夫as a Model Y enjoyer, screw those moraltags. South Park was supposed to be a comedy, not a documentary. I think diversifying our powertrains is the most sensible option today, not this terrible Vegas bet.
Hey Kirk, I would like a side channel with vlogs! Perhaps a travel vlog with your family, you could go to Japan and visit Ryokan and perhaps have a few segments where you film cars from the road side or drive rentals, I would watch for sure
Kirk, just came here to watch to video and tell you that your Home Alone thumbnail is always my fave LOL Merry Christmas to you and the fam, and all the best for 2025!
I work for Honda Engineering in Ohio. I am a machinist at the Anna Engine Plant where we are retooling to make the giga castings for the batteries. I also work occasionally in Marysville making the stamping dies. The 3 row large SUV has already been scrapped for now. The plan with AFEELA seems to be more selling subscription based items to the consumer. I am not a big fan of selling subscriptions, especially when the vehicles will be well into the $100,000 price range. I think they know they will not be selling large quantities, and also can’t hang their (Honda) hat on the name.
I get the feeling Afeela is really just a design exercise, more than actually launching this new brand. I just dont think its going to happen. They should just take what they learn and push sensor capability into the new Acura BEV.
I think it's a cool EV. Definitely next gen. And the hardware does look premium. What concerns me in terms of success though is that they oddly seem to be putting all their eggs in the US basket. Which is odd when the US simply isn't the most dynamic EV market. Not even close. If anything it's a small piece of the global EV pie. And sales are stagnant. So this seems more like a political decision than a smart strategic one. Let's be honest....to be a successful EV brand they will have to compete and be successful in China. Not only the world's largest car market overall, but the largest EV market by far.
Buy tesla stock and you can buy whatever car you want from the profits. Up 140% in just 6 months. Tesla alone is worth more than the next 15 automakers combined.
@sleepy_ipl buying a president will do that to a stock. Their sales growth was 0% this year. Robotaxi isn't close, if ever and the Chinese energy storage is far cheaper. But let us know how that hilarious AI going.
@onetwothreefour-s1n hilarious ai? Have you sat in a car and experienced full-self driving yourself as you make these statements? Or are you watching videos online lol
I think it is pretty much the Apple car. I think most people thought this is what the Apple car was going to be. Clearly the real money will be in the software, and all the apps and services. And the car services market is expected to grow into the hundreds of Billions. My guess is that that is Sony's strategy in terms of how to make money. Basically use the same thinking as the Playstation. Which Sony loses money or breaks even on the hardware, but rakes in the money on the software.
Honestly, Japanese companies work well when they work alone. When it comes to an association, a team work, they suck. Look at the Nissan Mitsubishi Renault partnership, even Sony has its “one Sony” strategy, because Sony subsidiaries work apart. Back to this SonyHonda EV. How hard it could be to build an EV? Do Japanese have any significant specialities/ experiences in EV??? No??? Then what can we expect from this vericial, and why it took so long to launch this vertical? Outsource this to Chinese, we can get this project done in 3 month!
Wow this shows how desperate some legacy brands, willing to try any wacky idea to try and survive. If the plan is to sell these to the NA market the name is terrible. Part of the problem why cars are so expensive today is tech crap like this that most people don't want in their cars, and the all the safety systems. The masses want good reliable cars, ice and EV at an affordable price.
It’s for Japan; so you won’t be getting it anyway. Besides it’s not competing with Tesla. It’s competing with Apple’s imaginary car. It’s a tech show off car.
It’s a niche vehicle so I reckon maybe 5000 at least in the first year or so. I mean, that’s what Lucid did with the Air and Afeela is just starting out. That is if they are able to be in production by early 2026. I heard pre orders are starting in 2025.
Afeela just isn’t a luxury name, sounds dumb and nerdy. I’d never buy it - e90, 2018 RDX, 991.1 gen 911. I’m looking at pure EV next, replace the e90 but the name just sounds beta. Don’t like Tesla for obvious QC reasons, leaning to the bmw i5 unless Lexus releases a banger ES ev.
Maybe Honda should partner with Casio. Low cost and the quality is as good as anybody.
😂That would be hilarious. A word computer on wheels.
I hope Afeelas are not just more EVs that are too expensive to “save the world”.

I never knew that karaoke was such a desireable feature in a new car. Will this be the feature that ultimately crushes the competition?
Kirk, Gosh, it is hard to keep up with Honda's EV partnerships.
With just our smart phone, people already cannot pay attention on the road...Big No for me.
Afeela is a dumb name....there i said it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
I'm AFEELAn it.
@scottkronmiller3746 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Afeela tingle in my ballz 😅
Japanese has an endearing love for cool English names, look at their mangas with meaningless and silly names. They sound cool to them I guess.
Sounds like an expensive flop. 😂
Apple Music now has a singalong (Apple Music Sing) feature, that is basically karaoke. So every car with CarPlay... is now your karaoke lounge.

Should have just used sony for their name.
Afeela, you're breaking my heart, you're shaking my confidence daily.
Well, I guess the launch is very soon. I remember in 2020 when the Vision S came out. Here we are today.
man i miss that concept
@TheGuyWhoEditz147 Yeah it was a nice looking car.
Why are we still talking about this car?
I like the sound of being built in the United States.
I love the idea of exporting them.

not afeeling it, but love the prelude design

What’s the story on the Acura RDX. Is there going to be a full model change in 2025 or is it going to be replaced by a BEV version in 2026?
Are Honda’s zero series EV’s just rebadged GM products? Brutal start
I tell everyone to NOT buy a Tesla.
Same

@sleepy_ipl settle down fanboy. Nobody made fun of Elon or hurt his feelings. Heil Elon, heil trump.

All the gimmicks to a car .. I see no profit and a lot of recalls

@ Just a pipe dream will never go into production
@bjm23vancity92 Yeah it will.
@ Let's have a friendly bet. Tell me how many you say they will put into production for sale to the public and when?
