Hi Dominque, as I Professional Spray Tan Artist I Loved this video and your suggestions. I can not spray tan myself easily, I usually am in my back yard with my tent trying to be a contortionist to get all the areas.
I have tried several of these products and I love the mousse brands the best. I also recommend the same tanning drops for the face as spraying sometimes comes out spotty if someone squints or scrunch up their nose. I can blend it out but spray solution is different and gets into the skin fast and the solution is drying to the skin. The drops with the moisturizer is wonderful and if you are someone who is older and have dry and/or wrinkled or sagging a little in some area’s the drops are a blessing. You don’t have to have a perfect 20 year old body to show some skin and your video was great for all of us over 45 to still have that glow safely without hrs in the damaging sun. Thanks for sharing 😉

I tried the drops. It is dryer and less sticky than b.tan forever + ever, but it has more of an orange cast. So I am sticking w the b tan on my face as well. It DOES accentuate my age spots on my face, but I feel there has to be some trade off to have some color on my skin. I am staying put of the sun bc of skin cancers.

    Dominique 🧡
I adore you and I know you don’t mind my extra skin love. I tell my clients to be very mindful of applying any self tanners to your face.
A good selfless tanner will work with your melanin naturally. If it does it will actually make Melasma and age spots darker. If you use one that simply stains it will do the same. We also see break outs and issues with fungal activity. Stick to the body. Try to use a powder bronzer on the face or just love your natural color.
Also DHA use to be more chemically derived, so yes use a natural or organic formula and read the label. As women we don’t need any more chemicals on or in our bodies.
Blessings and Happy Mother’s Day Dominique and everyone 🍑🙌🏻🧡Lisa

What a great video! I love the mitt over the brush hack. I never wanted to do them, because my husband wasn't around when I was doing it and then I didn't want to mess with the back later. Question? Do you find any dark marks on your body are magnified when you use this, such as hyperpigmentation. Suggestion for a future video. I know your Mom is aging and I think that is something a lot of us are dealing with. Do you have any great ideas to make the transition less stressful for everyone? Any idea would help! Happy Mother's Day to you and your Mom!

I should definitely do this! When I was young, I did not tan evenly and considering that I have light, Irish skin that I got from my father, I burn easily. These products definitely appear to be better than the instant tanning product that was available to us when I was a teenager! It was called QT which stood for Quick Tan, and it stank to high Heaven! And if you didn’t immediately wash this stuff off of your hands, they would be a nasty shade of blotchy orange, especially in the creases!

You will still get the hands if you don’t (immefiately) get it off them. Ive not had a mitt and used my hands. Washed them when i was done with soap but still turned orange since my hands were dry. I guess the time it took to cover my body was just too long and it stuck! I like to use rubber gloves. Ive had a few mitts leak the tanner through to my hands- lol.

I use all of these products as well quick tan by Body drench is actually my favorite along with the spray by b.tan. I find that the sprays absorb into my skin where the mousse is a little too water-based and my skin can only absorb so much so I always have to do two or more layers. If you let yourself to air dry for roughly 5 minutes between the spray ones you can actually give yourself a pretty nice dark tan. I find that quick tan actually does stay whatever color you spray on your body fairly well and within an hour or so. My trick since I do use all of the same products and I mean all moose included, is to get a continuous spray bottle and mix all of them together in one spray bottle. That way you have the 11-day formula from b.tan mixed with the instant bronzing from body drench etc. I also apply with just regular latex gloves and rub it in versus using a mitt I feel the mit absorbs too much of the color. I do use a mitt to apply it to my back I just have to do two or three more layers to get it to the same darkness as when I just rubbed it into my skin with a latex gloves. Trust the process with the latex gloves but I do end up using less product and get a darker result

Great video Dominique - just love the scrub brush hack for the back, genius! Two questions: 1) How does your facial skin care work with the self tan? I always avoid tanning my face thinking it will mess with my skincare. 2) With the sprays, how do you avoid it going everywhere and staining everything in your bathroom?

I’m with you Marypierce - thank you so much for the video. I have always wanted to try as I’m very fair and am getting on with a few spider veins showing in my legs which makes wearing dresses not as comfortable as I’d like. I haven’t tried before as I wasn’t sure where to start - saving this one for future referral 💫🙌

Enjoyed this very informative tutorial. You did a great job! Do you have any suggestions on how to make the self tanner last longer? ( besides using the one that lasts for 11 days)Also I find that with my legs ,after a few days, the tanner wears off very spotty even though I moisturize daily. Do you need to exfoliate the self tanner off the legs completely before reapplying?

Ever since one of your first "tan-in-a-can" videos, I have self-tanned in the summer. This was the best full tutorial that I've seen. I would like to add that I like drops for my face as well. I have a makeup brush that the handle fell off that I now use to apply my face tan/moisturizer and it works great.

S Godbout, do apply this to your face in the morning or evening? And would u mind listing your sequence? I use retinol, moisturizer and an extra thick cream, so not sure where to fit it in.

Such a great video! What I find most challenging is wether to put self tanner on my hands and feet.I feel sometimes it looks obvious that you self tanned if not including your fingers and toes but also very difficult to make it look natural.

Self-tanning is not my thing, but preparation is essential and this is important if you want to tan in the sun. Getting your community through this process and all explanations as well as your preparation to know all products is such a pleasure to listen and watch.
Thanks for sharing this with your community.

I do a similar step with lotion to prevent dark spots from being darker. I also, use a cotton swab over the spots to be sure not much tanner stays on those spots. I have recently noticed a couple of places that have lost pigment. I put on those places a tinted tanner.

Also make sure to clean your mitt regularly! 😊 Any buildup will affect the tanner application. Thanks, Dominique!
Edited to add: I am incredibly fair and love the b. tan formula with the violet base! It keeps me from looking too orange.

Just remember, everything you put on your skin including moisturizers, tanning lotions, perfume, etc does go through your body (the chemicals) and your liver goes to work to eliminate it. So, yes, you are tan and moisturized but your body reacts to anything you put on your skin, scalp, feet, nails, etc. Some time ago I read an article about what your body goes through when you put nail polish on your toes and fingernails, it is akin to causing your body to do the flight or fight mode when we are alarmed. These products DO affect the inner organs, soft tissue, etc. I have stopped doing my nails with anything that has chemicals, I have also stopped using perfume on my body and instead spray my clothing. I do not use antiperspirant, but instead use a natural deodorant without aluminum. So many people are fighting cancer these days - more so than back in the "olden days". Try using natural products. Read the ingredients on each product you intend to use on your body including your scalp, feet, nails, etc.

If you like a tan self tanning is the way to go. I just had biopsies on my nose from sunburn in my younger years. I have a lot of age spots and self tanning would only emphasis them so sadly cannot do it.

I love the care and consideration of your skin that you do. You always look wonderful. For me, tans are unattractive. Guess over the years I associate tabs with skin damage so even the look of a tan doesn't rock with me. Love so much of what you share, though!

Be care-full when self-tanning! Over-use of product is not good for your skin when out in natural light! Over-tanning is the WORST that can happen! I got sun-burned once and it was NOT funny at all!

But, which self tanner looks best as it starts to fade? I’ve used a lot of self tanners in the past and noticed they wear off differently. I hate the scale look, alligator skin, and skin disease look. That’s why I don’t bother anymore with self tanners.

Thank you so much, Dominique! What a blessing for our skin that self-tanners have come such a long way. Silly question: When you’re spraying on your body, isn’t there an issue with everything around you (bathroom tiles, furniture, etc.) also getting sprayed and „tanned“?

And if you have the time and money nothing beats Versa Spa Pro at a tanning salon spray I one minute ☀️🌈 For the back I use that same brush application covered helps lots along with the back applicators sold on Amazon long piece with handles on each end looks like a towel.

Great tutorial and love that you showed several brands! One thing i rarely hear people mention is its best to do tanner at night, sleep, rinse in am. Wearing it during day risk sweating it off in weird ways, clothes transfer, and smell (even though risk for smell & transfer is lower than in past- it still happens). I sleep with very light weight thin long sleeve tshirt and long light pant so nothing gets on my bedding.
Good lesson for getting back. They also sell reachers for back with foam on it for putting on lotion to your back- but love your idea even better!
