You are doing a great job on the bike. Your work shows very well the difference between a repair and a restoration. Almost everyone can write a list and reorder everything that doesn't work or is broken. But in loving detail work to restore the original parts, that's where it ends for most people. Make the switches work again and put new wires, fix the old side cover instead of just ordering a new one. And replacing the missing cover with a cover that is just as old, that is definitely restoration. If you keep changing parts, it's not the bike you started working on. No option. The motorcycle is approaching its 50th birthday, and that's how it should look like. Old but properly maintained.
It’s a really nice bike. Try not to get your feelings hurt; people who like what you do are always rooting for you, even if they don’t always express it the right way. I would be proud to own and ride that bike.
Motorcycles have seats? I thought they were saddles 🤣. Bringing back memories of working in the back shed on my brother's CB 450 and a Honda Nighthawk that he also had. Thank you for the great content.
Man, it's a beautiful bike. People need to learn to appreciate the small things with these old bikes. Mechanics are the most important, aesthetics mean more on a running bike lol. Love your videos! In the process of restoring a '76 cb750f I snagged for $500. Your channel is extremely helpful!
That bike was dead when you bought it. You spent probably 100's of hours getting it to where it is now including providing lots of videos along the journey. Looks great, sounds great, looks great. Thank you and for everyone who commented on the seat, you don't see it when you're riding.
AS FOR THE UNCURED MASSES....I do the following: " FACE PILES OF TRIALS WITH SMILES, IT RILES THEM TO BELIEVE YOU PERCEIVE THE WEB THEY WEAVE". FWIW & YMMV . I love the skills and attitude. Don't change!
This is a piece of history and it should show marks of all the untold stories. You did a really good job. Ignore comments like that . I’m a big fan of your channel. Don’t bend yourself for those duschbags. Greetings from Germany
Yup I agree, people focus on the negatives instead of looking at the positives. But, you kind of focus on the negatives yourself by pointing out to quite a lengthy extreme about how many people have mentioned the seat. That’s a great looking bike and sounds fantastic with the 4~1 exhaust. My father used to love Honda straight 4 bikes.
You made it perfectly clear that you just wanted the bike on the road again. I think it looks great. Much like the lines on my face they’ve come from time and experience and I’ve earned them. My 78 cb750 isn’t much to look at but it’s a blast to ride and I trust it. I love your videos and I’ve learned so much from you. Thank you.
BJ, the bike looks epic! My comment about the seat was because you had done such a good job of bringing a survivor back to life, the seat stood out like a bulldog’s dangly bits! Now, it looks superb and is a real credit to you. As you say, the aesthetics are done. Enjoy the ride… ❤️❤️❤️
I own a 93 Electra Glide that absolutely looks like a 30 year old bike. I love that it's a one owner bike that looks like it's been used and enjoyed. Love your CB and the patina.
Hi BJ, you have done a brilliant job of fixing this bike, I hope you dont restore it, as you would be scared to ride it, or scratch it, better for you to ride and enjoy her bud. The seat looks crap, should have been brown.
B.J., I sent you an Email about a 1977 Honda 750A. I used to ride it daily and just stuck it in a shed when the front brake master cylinder failed. Fast forward 19 years later. I retired and thought I had the skills to get it running. HA, I love watching your skills and your straightforward thinking. I just received the order from you and now ready to decorate my toolbox, other motorcycle cases, etc. Thanks
WooHoo! I knew you were holding off on doing the seat because you wanted to get all the other jobs/items done and corrected first. The seat looks great! Regards from Canada 🇨🇦
Hello BJ. Personally just wanted to say I appreciate the time you spend resurrecting the original parts used let alone the bike as a whole. I have spent probably far too long in some peoples’ eyes myself breathing life back into parts which in my opinion are better than ‘new’ the quality was better then. Saw the rack, just think it’s 100% cracking job, spot on. Love it. You let some steam off in the video. I suppose you have to let people comment it’s part of the deal. Myself I would ride that bike of yours any day and be proud, my cup is half full I guess, perhaps we are both lucky fellows. Thanks again for the video regards Kevin.
I’m loving all the content. Found your channel recently went back and watched a tonne of old vids all great stuff keep it coming. I hope one day to get a project bike like this.
Don't dwell on the negative comments. Some people are probably just very excited to see the progress on the bike! It doesn't mean you aren't doing a great job. I inherited a '78 CB550 from my Dad that just passed. It's been parked for 25-30 years. You've inspired me to restore it in a similar manner - preserving the patina and keeping it looking like a "survivor," as you said. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Joe. It is admittedly too easy to get caught up on the negative when a lot comes your way. That 550 will be a great project. Are you posting the progress anywhere I can follow?
@@BrickHouseBuilds I am looking for the right forum to join to document the process, research and ask questions. Any suggestions? I saw the bike yesterday (it's been in a storage unit all this time), but I will probably not pull it out until the Spring. I just started riding a couple years ago, and this will be my first project bike. My dad was an auto mechanic for a long time, and I'm really looking forward to the journey of restoring the bike in his honor, though I know it will be a challenge. I do my own motorcycle maintenance (on a modern bike), but I am no mechanic.
As far as specific forums I am not sure. I just know there are a couple Facebook pages that would love to follow along. Amateur Cafe Racer Builders, Honda Cafe racers, and more
I’m not planning on restoring anything but I wish there was a source like yours around 2006-2007 when I was driving home and a guy had an 83 CX650 with a less than 2000 miles on with a sign that said “FREE”. I picked that bike up so fast. But I was still new to working on bikes and was in over my head. I never got it running. Motor wasn’t locked up but it had a bad starter even though the guy I got it from said it was locked up. It hadn’t ran since 1986 according to the tag. I sold it way to cheap but it was also kinda disassembled lol. I believe I still have a side cover and if I find it I’ll send it to you. Keep up the good work
I recently found your channel as well. I love it. I also have several Hondas and getting ready to retire in a few years. So all of your Excellent content will be put to good use. Thank you and don't change a thing. Do it your way.
BJ, fantastic work. Really enjoying your vids. Where I came from (many years ago - yes, when this bike was new), a torn seat meant a wet ass for 9 out of 12 months. Even on the fine days! Keep it up.
I think it looks nice mate, I love the functionality feel you have gone for. To take a bike from a barn to running is a massive achievement! Still, nice to see the seat fixed! Great video take care.
I get what your direction for this bike was from day one... Totally addictive series...! Well done BJ......,she's a credit to you. Wish I could find one just like it.......! BG.
Hey mate, Something I've noticed from living here in the states for the last ten years, is that there are a lot of people in this country who think their opinion is above and beyond anyone else's so therefore, we, as in you and me etc... should listen to it. As far as I'm concerned , it's your bike, it's your decision what to do with it. I had a 650 special in much the same condition . Great bike. Just picked up a 79 cm400t in running condition. Can't wait for spring.
Maybe many of those nagging on about the seat didn't actually see it as a negative. But was hoping on seeing their favorite bike restoureer BJ tackling how to rejuvenate a torn seat. But maybe we get that later on another bike. Keep on saving these beuties BJ 👍🏼
Just don't worry about those folks who may try to be outspoken critics of any bike, those types will always try to find a negative in whatever you may be working on. I like what you are doing with this SOHC 750, it's very cool and is a survivor, and, yes, the seat may have needed addressing but you did so when you were ready to do it. Yes, it does look great either way! Keep up the great video content and thank you!
Man that bike is freakin cool as bro! I love fixing stuff so watching you is heaven for me. Love your presentation! $100, holy crap man. I LIKED THAT SEAT!!! ( I bought a 2000 1100 V Star for $800 and fixed everything ((190,000kms)) I ride it every day. Keep up the great work!!
You know you are exactly right about people and I agree with your methods and it has turned out great! It really is a good candidate for restoration cause it's so close already but like you, I'd rather ride it and enjoy it for a while! Keep up the good work! And another thing, in all things, it's a good practice to look for the positives and see the good instead of the bad
That looks better! You do amazing work on these old bikes, yes I get the patina thing. It looks like a survivor rather than restored and a lot of people like that. I also agree with the story to tell. My own bike has been with me a really long time and every mark and scuff is the story of the bike so I get that as well. You made the right choice with the used seat. A new one wouldn't look right. Carry on sir doing exactly what you are doing👍
Seat looks great! goes so well the rest of the character of the bike, like you were saying. There are things that are supposed to be "perfect" and then there are the things that are "functionally great" and this is the best description i can come up with for this bike. Everything doesn't have to be a show piece.
Thank you and agreed! As most of what I do needs to be near that "perfect" level I just get super tired of it. This bike is the complete antithesis to all else I do and a much more fun/free way for me to be creative and respectful to this bike and its story
Hahaha, it really looks so much better with the new seat! Watching this two years after the videos were posted, I have to admit I was wondering when you'd finally take care of that, and funny enough, you completely ignored the electric starter. I can relate to that! But I have to tell you, that clutch cable in front of the speedometer really messes with my OCD! Hehe. Great bike, great videos, amazing skills. Thanks for sharing!
@@BrickHouseBuilds So, what happened to the bike after this years, did you sell it? If so, was it worth all the investment? I'm asking this because of the vídeoa about the budget.
@@BrickHouseBuilds Thanks for the reeply! I see you ride it it was a little of a dumb question. sorry. It's beautifull!! the black one is also a beauty! :)
Funny! I also focus on the mechanicals first as that is what will get the bike on the road! AWESOME seat that you were able to get, though. Needs that patina to match the tank, which it does. Don't ever touch that seat or the paint on the bike. You are so right, those scars are part of the bike's history!!!!
Recently subscribed to your channel. Loving the vids. Great tips and this ol' honda is great. Like the fact your making it such a survivor and regular ride.🇬🇧
@@BrickHouseBuilds I remember when they first appeared on UK roads.. Triumph must have kicked themselves as they'd developed a four cylinder bike and dumped the idea back in those days.
Bugger me (Aussie Lingo (language)). I have a BMW R1100RT, 2X BMW R1100S’s, a BMW R1200ST, a Triumph 955i Tiger and a recently purchased Suzuki GSF 1250S. Watching your restoration of this CB 750, you now have me wanting one of those. 😬🤣
Now that’s why I don’t video and post my bike work, I just couldn’t do with negative stuff, for someone your age you have a great deal of skill , know how and enthusiasm, the patina thing you either get it or you don’t, the bike looks fantastic, regards from the UK,
In regards to patina I definitely agree. I don't want it on everything but this bike was just oozing character and you simply can't duplicate that. I don't want to fake anything so thats why all parts like the badges, covers, grips, exhaust, and of course seat are very selectively chosen to keep all things even. Much more detail has gone into this than many will ever know!
I love your daily rider. A very fine job and it looks and sounds amazing!. Sometimes less is more and working with the canvas that is this bike it's a masterpiece. If I was in the market for a bike I would have you do one for me since we're on the same page as how far one should go in a resto with a older bike like this one. Mechanicals are the priority here, the rest is icing. Great job, love the channel.
Looks great! I think folks didn't understand your thinking. It's such an iconic bike and off the scale in the cool factor that they think it deserves this and that. Anyway. Well done!
it makes me wonder how it feels. i wish i could ride it. but yeah i am from a relatively poor country. and i have a suzuki hayate a really small bike. but i love it
My takeaway from this video is... I really like the "new" seat. What I like the most is that, like pretty much everything you have fixed on this bike, you were able to take it apart and make it right. So much of our modern world is designed to be thrown away that you can't take it apart without destroying it let alone fix it. Even those brackets on the seat pan were bolted on instead of riveted or welded. To your knowledge, what year would mark the departure from being able to easily take the bike apart and fix it? Is there a model year where they decided to start welding things on instead of bolting them on? I didn't really own my 86 Honda Rebel long enough to try to tinker with it but the 2010 Vulcan I traded it for was a nightmare under the plastics.
Surprisingly now that there is a "new" seat on the bike with so many older stuff it looks weird. I kinda liked the torned seat better. It added characterto the patina...just my 55c😂. Well done bro👍
Great job throughout this bike,. Be proud!. Don't let the comments on your builds be the mastery of the scenes!.. It's YOUR bike, and YOUR channel,.. You are the master, don't take the knowhows with such seriousness.. There are always a Whitt to tell you shitt. Love your work, stay at the good job you're presenting.. Great channel, thanks for letting us follow!.. 👏😀
Screw all the haters who only see the negatives BJ. I live the patina and how you left the tank to tell it's story. Nust be frustrating at times but haters leads sad lives and you give new lives to old bikes, keep it up 👍🏻
Sorry - yes I was one to comment on the seat … and I totally get you’re response, now looking forward to the 4/1 pipes - I guess the originals are hard to come by ? Oh and of course the kick start rubber …. Just kidding - always watch your videos 👍
It was just excessive and I cant wrap my head around it but were past it now lol. Stock pipes are very expensive but im not interested in those anyway. I prefer a 4 into 1 so its win win
Thats funny after finding a fix for the seat then they moved on to the kick start. Lol. Hard to enjoy life always looking for the next thing wrong. Great job. The seat looks great like the rest of the bike.
@@BrickHouseBuilds yeah I realized that after, It would be cool to see a RUclips bike build collaboration where each of you send each other a random bike to customize.
Hi there love the channel and love the honesty of the bike it's a great working example of a true classic keep up the good work and might you be able to do an article about sprocket ratios on the 750 as mine seems to be over reving Cheers.
Thank you much. There are some cb750 forums and a great 69-78 CB750 specific facebook page with lots of knowledgeable people who may have nice articles on gearing.
Yup, I'm happy now! Just kidding. Yes, the seat bugged me, but what I appreciate about this build is your ability to solve problems and fix things within budget. I thought I was being sensible with an R75/5 refresh, but I've spend WAY too much money. Anyway, the end is in sight, it is what is is, and I yam what I am, as Popeye would say. Thanks for the bike builds and videos! Gord
Good seat, bad seat still my all time favorite Honda. My no kidding actual dream bike is a 1976 CB750K in that awesome red color. Hoping to find one in rideable shape one day. They are getting harder to find. Totally love all your CB750 content, everything you are doing seems right to me!
Bikes are easy, people are difficult😅 You need no explanations nor justifications sir. I see a great channel growing and becoming more and more popular.
You can take that seat off and put the old one back on an ride it when no ones looking, and swap it back when you've finished. Looks great by the way, ripped seat or not.
Nice job on the bike so far and I like the patina on the seat it’s a survivor what do people expect, I like it the way it is. It’s easy to just piss everyone off and move on, you can please some people some of the time but you can’t please all of the people all of the time that’s how I love my life some like it others don’t, again it’s about what makes you happy and that’s that. Catch you on the next video and ride safe.
I guess i do not pay attention to the negative comments, but it bothers me you have to take up so much time defending yourself. Trust me, i been around 63 years, and you have a good channel, just keep going , and i'll keep watching :)
I do think I put too much mental focus to it but I do like to engage with everyone who takes the time to watch and comment so maybe that's why I see it more than others know. I don't just ignore comments

@nunocabral1157 I ride it often. It's my baby! I haven't shared much after the budget follow up but I show it on my social media a lot
100% I really don't need to do anything to the bike other than ride it now
@@BrickHouseBuilds AWESOME!!!!! Just love that bike!!!
Recently subscribed to your channel. Loving the vids. Great tips and this ol' honda is great. Like the fact your making it such a survivor and regular ride.🇬🇧
Well I appreciate you tuning in and am glad you like the videos!
I legit daily this thing. Makes running errands my favorite part of the day
@@BrickHouseBuilds love that electrolysis vid on the tank too . Great technique.
@@BrickHouseBuilds I remember when they first appeared on UK roads.. Triumph must have kicked themselves as they'd developed a four cylinder bike and dumped the idea back in those days.
good work bringing it back. ignore the nitpickers.
I should be in the clear now that I replaced the seat! 😅
YAY! Much better, my man.
Now you can sleep at night.
Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance good book for you
Im about half way through it actually. Finally feel like he's getting to the point lol
Nice finish
I appreciate it
Bugger me (Aussie Lingo (language)).
100% with you man
I totally agree with you. Some people just can't let go of their "glass half empty" attitude.
For real. I still have people watching this whole series complaining about the lack of a Kickstart rubber lol. They are missing the point
At last!
Living in the UK, a split seat inevitably means a wet backside!
I hear ya but we have many sunny days and I just don't ride in the wet. Regardless, its fixed lol
Not this last week though Katy, more like a burnt backside 🥵🥵
Katy, TX?
@@BrickHouseBuilds I think Katy, like me lives in the UK where we have had unusually hot weather this week (at least near London where I am).
@@peterc2248 Ahh gotcha. I did hear about those hot temps for you all. Over 100f today
Thanks so much!
Great vid...thanks so much for all your hard work
Definitely a cool old CB👍
Thank ya Jim
10 out 10. 👌
Thanks Ray
Looks great! I think folks didn't understand your thinking. It's such an iconic bike and off the scale in the cool factor that they think it deserves this and that. Anyway. Well done!
Thank ya and agreed. Not a simple concept
love the hand waves. 🙂
😂😂 I was a bit feisty
Brilliant. Great sense of humour. Don't listen to those negative comments. You are the boss.
Lol thank ya
it makes me wonder how it feels. i wish i could ride it. but yeah i am from a relatively poor country. and i have a suzuki hayate a really small bike. but i love it
this isn't a old bike just a normal bike
The easiest way to describe would be that it feels heavy. It's very smooth and comfortable but just heavier
Have Joy with your bike…👍🥳
That I absolutely do!
Surprisingly now that there is a "new" seat on the bike with so many older stuff it looks weird. I kinda liked the torned seat better. It added characterto the patina...just my 55c😂. Well done bro👍
Its definitely not new. It has a hole, stains, rust, etc.
@@BrickHouseBuilds I've noticed. But nonetheless👍. You did awesome work on it looking back at where it all began
Now this bike is perfect, enjoy the rides (I’m a little bit jealous)✌️
Its riding that line of perfection for me indeed. Thank you and will do
Great job throughout this bike,.
Many thanks
Screw all the haters who only see the negatives BJ. I live the patina and how you left the tank to tell it's story. Nust be frustrating at times but haters leads sad lives and you give new lives to old bikes, keep it up 👍🏻
Thank ya. I wouldn't even say haters as much as just those who don't get the idea of the bike.
Love the bike.
Thank you!
I don’t even ride and I’m enjoying your. Videos keep up the great work. Don’t worry about the Negative bs.
Well thank you! Glad to hear it!
Thats funny after finding a fix for the seat then they moved on to the kick start. Lol. Hard to enjoy life always looking for the next thing wrong. Great job. The seat looks great like the rest of the bike.
Exactly. They only focus on the smallest flaw they can find instead of all the good
Just got a kz750 twin and love the scrambler videos on this thing, I kinda have a soft spot for Kawasaki's
Well I love those too but I think you meant this comment for Taylor on Classic octane lol
@@BrickHouseBuilds yeah I realized that after, It would be cool to see a RUclips bike build collaboration where each of you send each other a random bike to customize.
That would be fun!
Well done 👍💪👏
Thank you
Everyone is a critic, as the saying goes. They'll say they love the bike but still point things out like that. Your bike, your style. It looks great!
I appreciate it Craig! Not everyone understands the idea behind this bike. They don't need to agree with it but many times the point is lost
Bike looks awesome and correct. Way to go.
Thank you!
👏👏👍 Disappointed my preference was for the other seat 😂
😉
Gord
I guess with the budget my goal has just been to be sensible and repair not replace(except for the seat lol). Glad you like the series though
Nice seat 😉
It is swell 😁
Got her looking better and better, really wanting to her the new exhaust, should sound awesome with a 4-1 on the SOHC
Oh it does 😎
Thank you though!
@@BrickHouseBuilds look forward to hearing you rip through the gears on it. Is this your e-mail ? I have a question for you if it is
@@davidbisnette7673 bj@brickhousebuilds.com
Much better
I think so too
Nice example of the 70’s 750 Honda.
Many thanks Richard!
BJ - Haters gonna hate. Do your best to ignore them. Love the content, please keep it coming.
Thanks Don
I like it that's the main thing 😁
Excelente! 🍻
I’m so relieved you changed the seat. I can finally sleep at night. Just kidding. It’s the kickstart rubber that keeps me up at night.
You're in for many sleepless nights lol
Parabéns pela moto !! Acho que ela esta perfeita. Moro em São Paulo Brasil e estou acompanhando todo o processo.
Thank you!
👍Oh my!! the seat looks great!!😂 😂
Awesome job great find , great character!!! Does it have the original tool kit?
Thank you and no
Hi the threaded part of my clutch hand grip is stripped out . Can it be repaired or just try and replace the whole peice
Like need to replace
Good seat, bad seat still my all time favorite Honda. My no kidding actual dream bike is a 1976 CB750K in that awesome red color. Hoping to find one in rideable shape one day. They are getting harder to find. Totally love all your CB750 content, everything you are doing seems right to me!
Well I appreciate that! They are still out there just have to jump on them
I'm so happy you finally fixed the seat. I'll be able to sleep tonight. Your gonna polish the needles on the instrument gauges next right. RIGHT.
Next on the list 😉
@@BrickHouseBuilds that’s good news
Another Timesuck shirt. Hell yea! MOTHER, YOU MAKE ME SO ANGRY!
The Space Lizard community is fantastic! I had forgot I had this shirt on and was worried it would concern some people lol
Bikes are easy, people are difficult😅 You need no explanations nor justifications sir. I see a great channel growing and becoming more and more popular.
People are definitely difficult. Only looking for and pointing out potential tiny flaws
You can take that seat off and put the old one back on an ride it when no ones looking, and swap it back when you've finished. Looks great by the way, ripped seat or not.
Thank ya!
Thank ya Miguel
I guess i do not pay attention to the negative comments, but it bothers me you have to take up so much time defending yourself. Trust me, i been around 63 years, and you have a good channel, just keep going , and i'll keep watching :)
I do think I put too much mental focus to it but I do like to engage with everyone who takes the time to watch and comment so maybe that's why I see it more than others know. I don't just ignore comments
@@BrickHouseBuilds , Fair enough :)
Dang! Finally . . . . . . a seat!
Long awaited by many it seems
