There's just something so powerful in an air raid. Like it's a blatant statement of a challenge for the target's Armed Forces to either stop this mass of bombers with their AA batteries or with their own air force.

But I think you can fairly draw a line between celebrating the defeat of a disgusting regime and deaths of perpetrators of horrific crimes, and celebrating mass bombing. Even if it was strategically necessary - I'm not informed enough to have a strong opinion on it, but suspect it probably was - it's still not a reason to say "great! blowing up lots of innocents as well as the guilty! destroying cultural heritage!" etc. etc.. I was mostly just irritated by the idea that this, of all things, is why we should support the "Greatest Generation" over Gen Z. The German "Greatest Generation" weren't so great, after all.
