It was funny watching the time lapse with ilmango throw out all the water levels in the caldrons when a few months ago I was watching him pray for rain to get enough water levels to fill a bucket. This world has come so far!
28:00 LMAO when those cauldrons started filling with rain water… I could FEEL the facepalm. Especially given how you had to get your original water source!
It's usually a forgotten mechanic, but on par with the powder snow. You can even consider counting how many times rained while you were afk or mining underground. Detect when it rains to light up areas just like when it turns onto night with an OR gate. I don't know. Some people may come up with interesting uses. Like you can detect a lightning strike with a lightning rod, giving a redstone pulse.
41:30 Would be fun to add a observer based counter to the cobblestone that gets blown up by the blue skulls. Just to see how often it actually happens: XP
Could you put a hopper under the blue-skull broken cobble? Not sure if it world survive but it'd be cool to have a record of how many blue skulls had been shot
Yeah that would be very interesting to see how many times a blue skull fires. The hopper would probably have to be 2 blocks below the cobble though (one block of empty space).
I love how each of your series have you playing the game differently each time. Rarely the same farms for resources, approaches to problems, or value put on items/mechanics. Years ago, you'd be running through a perimeter trench on Scicraft spamming buckets to clear lava, yet here you are building a huge storage to actually put them to use.
That you can sort the skulls like this is pretty cool. With my wither rose farm I opted to just automatically rebuild the endermen cage with cobble gens, every time it was destroyed. This is certainly more ellegant.
Imagine being the wither, a being of great strength with the ability to destroy anything short of bedrock, but a tiny boat on your head completely immobilizes you
i believe a horizontal lightning rod with surrounding blocks can have a simmilar effect if you can keep the wither flying up(by making it agro onto something continuously), since the block breaking happens around the hitbox and the game rounds down if the wither is in the lower half of a block(thats what the lightning rod does). this setup is less stable, since you have to put the wither away whenever unloading, or else it will fall, enabeling it to escape but with spawnchuncks or chunckloading it should be fine. the setup is also simpler to set up, since you need no boat alinement or guarding blocks for boats and can just waterlog the lightning rod to prevent the innitial explosion. withertec is amazing id encourage everyone to get into it. its also one of the few intended possibilitys of block breaking(as opposed to tnt duping).
What I love about this series is that you don't just take the conventional method to do things. Making an obsidian farm like this, instead of the more simple End platform method is so cool!
I dont even play Minecraft since 1.9, but this skyblock series really got me hyped for the game again. Your farms are so clever its insanely fun to watch! Much love❤
"A portal gold farm would be faster" I thought the whole point of building this obsidian farm was to get the resources to build portal farms in the first place!? Regardless, this project is super cool and watching it all work just feels great! It was also fun hanging out in your stream building this, I'd love to see you stream some more.
Seeing ilmango struggle with building the larger lava farm makes me think it would be cool to see farms designed specifically to be expanded exponentially.
Once you release the world download I’m going to build this farm. So smart. The thing that I love about your builds is that most servers you don’t have access to the end platform or tnt duping so your farms actually work.
I really understand you, and to get more of that, I really suggest you to desing your own farms, or even just small parts of farms, now you will get the nice feeling of having your own work pay off. I did the least compact redstone ever to auto sort the items of my looting gold farm, there was a decent amount of messing with timers and a clock, its really simple and a good redstoner can make it in less than half the space it took me, but it's mine and I love it for that lmao
A really niche video idea would be a timelapse of this wither cage and watch the occasional blue skull hit the cobble gen. It'd be like the massive block storage from earlier in the series. I think a lot more people would appreciate it than thought.
Imagine having a small lava farm to build a big lava farm realize it is too big so you build a medium size lava farm for the big one :) Reminded me of the cactus farm but still a nice project
Once the skulls are out of the bubbles, they resume the direction they were shot at, so by lowering the target it is possible to dispose of them in the void where they get deleted. Also there's another way to build a wither cage that uses an end rod or lightning rod above the wither to keep it in place. No boats, floor or walls required.
Wither cage tech is like Minecrafts equivalent to dealing with nuclear energy, its insanely complicated, technical, reactive, and unstable but SOO powerful.
Really enjoyed the stream yesterday, as always I am absolutely mindblown with the things you can do in Minecraft, from these farms to the fully working computers and that 3d printer you made, it's insane what the community has found to be possible.
Definitely agree that cauldrons should be able to be dispensed to/from. Btw, if you were in bedrock you could have dispensed the lava using a flying machine since dispensers, hoppers, and chests are moveable by pistons. Maybe a bedrock skyblock for the next series.
Yeah mango you were talking about Stoneblock 3. And yeah in the early version of that mod the wandering trader would spawn often and a pocket cave would spawn to give him a home to reside in. So you always had his sound effects in random places all around you while you played.
I love how the properties of different blocks mesh to create crazy stuff! Who’da thunk you could contain and enslave the god of death using a boat, some leaves, and pieces of a beehive!
You guys have such massive builds... its insane you stay true to as pure of minecraft as u can. I dont think anyone would mind if you used a building wand data pack to build planes and rows of blocks faster.
Build a small lava farm in order to build a big lava farm in order to build an obsidian farm in order to build a portal farm in order to build a ... ilmango is definitely my favorite Minecraft RUclipsr.
Awesome work on the wither cage, if you haven’t already you should have a look at Scorpio’s wither cage to see how you can use armour stands for the blue heads
This has been my favourite minecraft series since Captainsparklez first let’s play. Hermitcraft is another fav, but for solo let’s plays, this is amazing.
I wonder if you could use the wither heads as a multi-player crash trap for base defense against base hunters following loaded chunks, fire back the way you came and any base hunters would get the pleasant surprise of loading in 20k wither skull projectiles
I love ilmango's timelapse music. I usually don't listen to music outside of my normal genre of epic orchestral, but I enjoy ilmango's timelapse musics despite it being different genres than my comfort zone.
Hmm, watching modded and likes some of the features. I'd love to see mango play a modded skyblock. Maybe ATM7 too the sky. So far out of his comfort zone but he'd rapidly unpick the mechanics. Would be fun to watch!
I think what you really invented is a Wither Skull Cannon where you can set up a Wither to permanently target an iron golem and redirect all of its skulls to fly over the iron golem and destroy the enemy. Could even serve as a very overengineered way to deal damage to mobs if they are funneled into the skull trajectory
Maybe the wondering trader ban area could be implemented with the pillager banner? The one the captains drop. It would make sense that a wondering trader would understand what the flags represent and goes. Nope not here.
Couldn’t you have used a strider to place the lava? Maybe have the fishing rod on your off hand? That would be a funny sight to see XD Also I really love how you start your farms from the simplest thing possible then slowly build up the complexity. I started using creative mode to look at building and farm ideas and it’s been really fun!
25:03 "So I wanna somehow get an IRON GOLEM to create that snow layer over here. But this miiiight get a little bit tricky..." 😅😂 yes very tricky @ilmango , but you always seem to get things done. 😊❤
An anvil as a red stone component. When powered, it stores the power, and that power can be moved until it breaks or is powered with a different charge
If an anvil is hit with lightning, it can store a charge of 20, being able to introduce what I think should already be in the game, blue stone. Diamond, instead of red stone. Not to mix, but as another weird thing in the weird world of Minecraft
It would be teally interesting to make a collection system below the cobblestone generator that catches the blue skulls. This way you would have a counter for these events (although some cobblestones would burn in the lava)
I thought the hitbox of the honey blocks was 14×14×14, but it is actually 14×14×15 and there is no gap at the bottom. This is what allowed the honey blocks to encapsulate the boat (9 tall) standing on a bottom slab (8 tall)
I think you should place hopper and chest somewhere under the cobble that blocks blue heads, just little experiment to find out real number of blue heads in afk session
While a end platform obby farm would be easier, it wouldn’t /feel/ right, imo. I’ve never really liked the idea of farming the platform, because the only reason the platform exists is to give the player something to stand on because the game couldn’t ensure you didn’t spawn over open void. It doesn’t feel like it was put there to be farmed. The pillars, though? I think that’s different. The ender dragon summoning ritual was added for the sole purpose of being able to do it again - aka to farm the dragon and dragon-related things. Same with this - the dripstone lava cauldron thing was put in to enable lava farms. Plus, it’s cool. Using a bunch of withers to break massive chunks of the pillars is cool, too, but that’s super huge scale, I think even more than this. Would be interesting to see it done in combination with a dragon breath farm or something - use pistons to push the dragon and lock it somewhere, keeping the wither cages safe and making it easy to collect breath, and also making it easy to automatically kill it. The only thing you’d need to do is have a player there to bottle the breath while they afk the obby farm.
Maybe instead of adding something that blocks the wandering trader from spawning, wandering traders would prefer to spawn in a small radius around a block. An item called a "trading post" or something would also be a lot less confusing for new players.
I can think of a potentially super simple way to make that into a wither rose farm. depending on if those wither heads can damage a chicken on the other side of those obsidian blocks...
Mango, you should do an episode 50 world tour. It will make for a nice easy episode for you after an absolute grind, and it can help people catch up or if they started watching late they can see everything
Ilmango, in my similar to this wither cage setup i refused to use water curtain in favour of shielding golem with one long strip of generated stone, protruded out from the golem towards the wither. Thus, this strip of cobblestone meant to regenerate every time it has actually being blown, which anyway happens once in 2000 sec approx. Most of the time this strip efficiently catches all the wither skulls, and only being blown (and immediately regenerated) by the blue skulls every so often. This setup also makes it possible to use wither in the nether, because you can use basalt generator for shielding. By the way, you probably should think about spawn proofing the area, because imagine what would have happened if your spawn suppressor fail for some reason. P.S. Another great option you might want to consider is to use a nether portal shield! I did some tests, and I know for sure that the portal effoerlessly "swallows" both types of skullls, and this type of shielding looks very nice and clean. The only thing you should take care, is to protect the portal from the wither initial blow with temporary water curtain. This type of shielding is beneficial, given the fact that you probably could have put on good use those skulls, that went through the portal. It is very convenient to manipulate the point of emitting the skulls by varying the size and shape of the portals of both dimensions.
I was telling my friends the other day that an ominous banner should stop wandering traders from spawning in a certain radius around it, sorta like an anti-lightning rod
I know you are super busy with skyblock and scicraft and your not too into mods but i think it would be so cool if you were to do a create mod series and make super awesome efficient farms with create.
Yo dawg! I heard you like Lava farms! So I made a lava farm to be able to make another lava farm! Great episode! And for the blue skulls, wouldn't a waterlogged block help?
What if placing ominous banners prevented wandering trader spawns for players around them, as if the traders were scared away
lol or a tame wolf on a lead. Guard dog protec
Woah. I was about to comment this.
Yo..... u mighta just did a thing
What if a wandering trader dropped a banner pattern upon being killed that could then craft a no soliciting banner. That’s maybe a bit grim actually..

Wither Cage tech is always amazing to look at yet oddly terrifying knowing how close the Withers are to destroying everything
I've always wanted to try making a wither cage in a Skyblock just to run a sustainable auto cobble farm but yeah always been scared to try
That's the fun part actually, high risk high reward, that's why i'm against TNT duping since forever
Its just like nuclear energy, its extremely powerful but requires really in depth knowledge and advanced engineering to be fully safe.
It's like a deal with the devil
It's somewhat like a nuclear power plant

Yeah that would be very interesting to see how many times a blue skull fires. The hopper would probably have to be 2 blocks below the cobble though (one block of empty space).
it would propablz have to leave an air gap but one could then use a collection area underneath so propably yes
Couldn’t you use dispensers to make it fully automatic?( that way you don’t have to auto click to get the lava buckets)

This really does start to open your mind to how much you can automate in Minecraft, if you just put your head to it. Insane stuff as usual!
