- In the heart of Kings Norton, Birmingham, stand two incredible historic buildings-The Old Grammar School and The Saracen’s Head. These structures have witnessed over 600 years of history, from a royal visits to a near miss with arson during the Suffragette movement.
Despite their resilience through wars and societal changes, these buildings now face a modern crisis. After winning the BBC Restoration programme and receiving a £4.3 million grant, they were beautifully restored in 2008. But just two decades later, they have once again landed on the Buildings at Risk register due to high running costs.
How did this happen? And will they be saved once more? Join me as we uncover the fascinating history, the struggles, and the uncertain future of Kings Norton’s forgotten treasures.
