Robot Animation in EEVEE NEXT | Blender 4.2

  • This cute robot is a model I made in Plasticity.
    It will be one of the characters in my upcoming short film I am making in Blender.
    Once I modeled this bad boy, I decided to give the new EEVEE render engine a shot.
    And to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by how close it can get to Cycles with the new Raytracing feature.
    Awesome!

    Unbelievable results. There's still a few things that are missing from EEVEE compared to cycles. Nevertheless, I'd assume the render time would be very advantageous. Excellent job on showing this off, I hope your short film project goes well mate :)

      Yeah! This project was very random, I just wanted to make a short animation of the robot I modeled. But I soon realized it would take around 50 hours to render this in Cycles. And it just wasn't worth it so I gave EEVEE NEXT a chance. And it didn't disappoint!

      @@matbob56 5.5hrs in EEVEE NEXT. I didn't test it with old EEVEE

    RT resolution should be 1:1 and sample could reduce to 64 which obviously make some noise but easily mitigate through denoiser in PostFX. Reduce sample size and increase RT resolution will decrease the render time considerably.

    Cant wait for this to be implemented in the final version! Looks very similar with cycles and is much faster! Amazing render and animation!!

    Btw, the displacement in eevee was already possible before with geometry nodes

    How much time it did take you to render and the resolution 🤔? If i may ask

      5 hours and 30 minutes. It was 1920x1080 🤓

      About 14 seconds a frame? My maths correct there?
