Yep Yep Yep ......all good stuff......Decca producer didn't know what "Buddy Holly's" sound was......"That'll Be the Day" is just unbelievable......and "The Crickets" rerecorded it on Coral....... My aunt went to Hight School with Buddy Holly at Lubbock High and was 1 year younger and in the same class as J.I........ Buddy Holly & The Crickets are the Prototype Rock Band.......Sooooooooo Brilliant!!!!!

Hi JP… Maybe you cover this in part two but… Maybe baby and that’ll be the day have those early versions that were admittedly not as polished and wonderful as the eventual hits. Was the one they recorded at decca that day the slower and higher pitched that’ll be the Day version?

I didn’t realize that changing all those changes and those other gems were recorded on the same day… And look at that Quansett hut recording studio… In my mind I saw Decca records it’s going to be this really spiffy looking building but … Just think of the great music that was made in this ordinary looking building.

Yes, I do cover that in part 2, and I break down the differences in part 3. Part 4 has even more info on what followed. Yes, the Decca version is the high pitched one that doesn’t quite rock. Thanks for watching!

It is pretty amazing what came out of that studio. A cool thing I couldn’t fit into the video: the studio was originally just a regular house. Owen Bradley had the first floor removed, so you walked down into what was originally the basement. This created a big space with a nice high ceiling. The Quonset Hut was from a kit and was added on to the back of the house soon after.
