Even if most people now totally love Floor, never forget that Tarja was the one who made all us old Nightwish fans fall in love with that band.
You should also really listen to "Walking in the air" from the Wishes to Eternity concert, great ballad and it has never been performed with Floor.

The controversy around John Two Hawks doesn't change the sentiment or the importance of the message and I would think that someone from the Lakota should approach Nightwish and help them to reconcile with this piece of music as for me I would think anything that promotes the image of a minority in a positive way can only be a good thing! Nightwish doing Nightwish things!

Tuomas read a book and again made a masterpiece. Now he respects and raises a topic which is often forgotten. There is a "trail of tears" in reality. White color is important for the Native Americans and that detail is not by accident in the dress and mic of Tarja. Check the poem in the end and get the meaning of it too. By the way...the word "ONCE" is in every song of the album Once songs.

Sadly, most of today's youth, here in the U.S. couldn't tell you what the trail of tears refers to, nor do they even care.

@@acouplegeeks I'd bet money that if you got 100 random people from the U.S. together age 18-35 and showed them a world map and told them to point to the U.S. half or better could not do it. The Government has dumbed people down so much so they can have better control of everyone and so we all won't even be smart enough to know when we are getting screwed over by them. And it's totally worked too. Almost every day I see someone or hear someone talking and I'm just floored how friggin' dumb they are.

I mean there are reasons that americans always complain that there is no good music anymore these days, while we from Europe just scratch our head and have no clue what they are talking about since we have soo many great bands here.
It sounds weird but i have the feeling at least music wise Covid has lead the americans to less isolation than before since alot finally started to realize, thanks to RUclips, that there is actually a world outside their country.

It’s indeed a powerful song and I think they were brave to dare to discuss such a heavy message about the dark part of the colonial era from Northern America.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but every song on 'End of an Era' concert seems to have a double bottom. All things considered from the situation that Tarja is fired at the end of this concert, suggests that the whole set list is one big reference to sending her away. As if it was a punched-out card, this number too. It seems implicit to say that Nightwish as a band are the natives and Tarja who thought she could overcome them. But even though it may seem different now, Nightwish will eventually triumph in spite of all the pain and tears it will cost them.

I just read the book 'Creek Mary's blood'. I just wonder how Tuomas can fit 400+ pages on four minute song, and still catch the same feeling, joy, rage and sorrow in it. Respect!
In the Great Lakes region there lives a group of "Findians" = Finns + Indians. They are descendants of Finnish immigrants and American Indians.

You are the first person i have ever heard call Jukka a pirate. Plus the Two Hawks things is still not proven one way or the other.
@@shspurs1342 a drum pirate/ninja, a Viking/warrior, a hobbit/elf, a poet/minstrel/Jack Sparrow type keyboard pirate... and an siren ice queen, replaced by witch princess, replaced by a Valkyrie.
Then you add a multi instrumental wizard; not sure what Kai is... kinda has that wandering mountain tracker look to him, or possibly a random drunken villager in disguise.

Amazing song Guys ! And i was born in Salt Lake City so in an area not far from the tipical Indian's ancient areas (anyway well estabilished all over the States) ! Great performance and how the man (pardon i don't recognize him) impersonates the Indian ; from my ignorant perspective , is interesting . 4'40" It starts the timing bass drum ! 1'30" I feel you are deep persons i would be happy to learn from you and to give to you if i would be able 👆 . All the instrumentals like flutes keys orchestration are very efficient well done and i like the mood given to the song . Around 5'00" Jon is slaying is comment section eheh till almost over 5'30" . 5'35" Yes Travis the White on Woman gives always a special vibe ! Like on Cristina during Heaven'S ... 5'39" It's true Tarjia looks good Suzi but you alsooo and you Trio rock

Long story short, John Two Hawks is a fraud.
I still enjoy this song for what it is though.
I believe this was the only time on the once upon a tour that this song was actually played along with over the hills.
This song did get played however with Anette, when she came out dressed as a Native American princess in 2007/2008.
That was the last time this song was ever played, From memory.
It definitely has never been played with (Or will it ever be as mentioned above) Floor.
The song itself is based off of the book by Dee Brown of the same name.
He apparently does have some native american heritage; he isn't some white dude whose white parents or grandparents came over from europe etc. And the words he used in CMB are real and legit words, not some "gibberish he made up" as some have described it. He did translate and in some areas adapt Tuomas's poem to Lakotan to match the original meaning as closely as possible.
BUT this is where it gets dicey. While correct, there are apparently a few grammatical issues in the way he translated to Lakotan. But the bigger issue is he has never (to my knowledge) been enrolled in a tribe which is required if you need to be considered as a "real" native American. So while he may have native american heritage and he genuinely considers himself part of the community, by the letter of the law he cannot be considered native american.
They definitely played it 2004 in Switzerland (Basel), together with John Two-Hawks.

@@scottmill8832 His true heritage has been disputed a lot. He later confirmed he's not a Native American himself if I'm correct. There's a law against misinterpretation of Natives in the USA. As an actor/act it was great, but needless to say that wasn't true to the idea of the song of course... (the lyrics were technically correct Lakota, but not the grammar and context that's where the debacle started and then they found out the rest)
Initially thought, he's a finnish-like guy dressed in Indian clothes until I was told he ought to be a native American until I was told he's an imposter...
Tuomas was so broken-hearted by this he vowed to never play this song live again. Which is such a shame, since I think it is up there with 'Ghost Love Score' as one of Nightwish's best epics.

A seperate point about the Native American tribes inside the Confederacy, they also kept slaves. Please do not but into that 19th century myth about the noble savage.
