- Greetings, everyone! Welcome to The Commander Tavern! I am Demented Kirby and this is the 18th episode of the 5th season of one of the series on this channel, The Brewery. This series is all about brewing and deck techs - hopefully showcasing the spiciest of brews!
This episode of The Brewery is my take on Magda, Brazen Outlaw. Magda is amazing in that she's not only a dwarf lord with pump but also with mana generation. She even provides card advantage since you can sacrifice 5 treasures to fetch for an artifact or dragon from your library straight to the battlefield. I went with Mycosynth Lattice + Hellkite Tyrant as plan A with dwarf tribal as plan B. If you want to see the complete decklist for this deck, you can find it at this link: tappedout.net/...

Nice man! I was inspired to make a dwarves deck first time I saw her. Now I have instructions!

Consider running,
Ghirapur Aether Grid {2}{R}
Enchantment
Tap two untapped artifacts you control: Ghirapur Aether Grid deals 1 damage to any target.
Tap 10 treasures to deal 5 damage then sacrifice them to Magda's tutor ability.
That's actually a very good way to get even more value from treasure tokens.

I'd also include Hellkite Charger and Goldspan Dragon as spicy dragons for Magda to find
Oof! The charger is amazing since it can very easily provide unlimited combat steps.
Another amazing thing about Magda that I didn't mention in the video is that you can also make it a sort of double tribal deck with dwarves and dragons. Use the dwarves to summon the dragons. It's pretty flavorful at least. And if you equip Magda with Illusionist's Bracers you can cheat in those dragons two at a time ;)
Nice brew, i'll build her more as a fun deck.. Looking for a vehicle deck for quite some time and I also love treasures and dragons :)
Vehicles is definitely the fun version of this deck as I mentioned in my conclusion at the end of the video. It's just really hard not to take advantage of a commander with a built-in tutor ability in the command zone ;)
@@TheCommanderTavern yes, true. i think it also depens in which type of playgroup you are and what brings you more fun. I have a casual group and a much more focused group which loves to optimize decks and find more fun in winning with an optimised strategy. This deck will be for the fungroup and I will also play topdeck dragon rather than finding a specific (with magdas ability) IF i don't need a specific answer :D
@@hunterrr89 What's great about vehicles is that red also has a lot of synergy with artifacts that you can use to your advantage.
Another janky way to go about it is to have the deck be double tribal between dwarves and dragons. So you can flavorfully it's like dwarves riding dragons (instead of vehicles) :P

I am really sad Kaldheim didn't really bring any good dwarfs for this commander. Awsome dwarf commander but give us more dwarfs!!!!
I know, right?! Dwarves have been around since Alpha and are an iconic high fantasy race. More love for dwarves!!

One suggestion I'll make is potentially swapping out Fervor for Illusionist's Bracers (like I have in the decklist in tappedout) because if Magda is equipped with it, you can tutor for Mycosynth Lattice and Hellkite Tyrant simultaneously from one activation.
@@TheCommanderTavern you mean these lists aren’t the results of hours and hours of playtesting? Could have fooled me.
@@rexone9564 Hahaha, I do test them a lot before deciding on what's good enough to present it to the world. Cockatrice not having been updated with Kaldheim yet does present a challenge when testing since you'd have to arrange matches before hand with people you know instead of randoms over the internet, but I was able to make do.
Making these videos does take up a lot of time. It might not seem like it at first but I do have to draft an initial brew (which is daunting in and of itself to get a deck down to 100 cards), test it out to see what works and what doesn't, and then tinker it enough where I'm satisfied with the deck. Then of course comes the script, recording it, then editing the video, uploading it, etc. At least in this case, I have been brainstorming a lot with Magda when she was first spoiled so I did have a bit more time with it :P
@@rexone9564 Also, I always enjoy seeing what the community responds to my deck techs with. What they would've add, would've cut, how they would've built it altogether, etc. I love seeing other people's ideas because they enrich my own as well. One of the main reasons I started the channel in the first place ;)

Does bloodboiler's ability only work once when you summon him or every turn?
It works as long as you have a dwarf to tap down. It's an activated ability that doesn't require tapping it. So you can do it at instant speed as many times as you can, regardless of the turn or when you do it.
@@TheCommanderTavern Thanks for the explaining that its an activate ability that can be used whenever any turn. I'm still new to magic and this card looks like a perfect replacer for Rimrock Knight for my legacy dwarf deck.
