    Few things to add
    - I hate the on tank display console as it forces the rider to take eyes off of road to even glance at it. Although main dispaly console is good and rider can see the gear info being displayed on it, but the moment low fuel warning lits up, it keeps on disrupting the gear information. This is not only annoying but dangerous as the moment you glance for gear info on the main panel it might be busy dispalying low fuel warning thus forcing you to look at the secondary on tank display. Bajaj I know the fuel is low, I can see the fuel gauge on screen, I can also see the amber caution light on cluster so stop reminding me every 2 seconds.
    - For the weight of the bike, its breaking is seriously underwhelming, it really makes you feel the struggle when coming to a stop from any speed above 70kph. Rear brake is close to being utterly useless.
    Another thing, the stock breakpads doesn't work in rain so one of the first thing to upgrade is installing sintered pads, they might make noise but they are worth every penny.
    - Stock Mrf tyres might work for dry Indian climate but in places where it rains regularly its advised to get better tyres from Pirreli or Michelin.
    Other than these, Dominar is a solidly built bike, not as quick or torquey as Duke 390 but not inferior in any shape or form. As owner of both Dominar and Duke 390, I can safely say owning Dominar had been a pleasure, as compared to my duke which pretty much developed every problem possible from leaking forks to cracked fuel tank, from leaking radiator to speedometer displaying "Zero" kph.

    I had a dominar too. It's scarily strong and fast and most of all very heavy. Even if you're tall, if you don't have stamina and a strong legs, just balancing the bike is useless. It's like signing a bond with a devil. You need power? You'll get the power but it comes with a price. It really dominates you. Bajaj didn't just name this bike out in one night in a dream. It's a well thought name. I had to sell the bike. Not regret but had to let go of a power I can't handle

      Pros:
      1. Looks, it's still a head turner in many scenarios.
      2. The engine, with fat mid range that can send you to the moon, if you get use to it you probably always be the fastest thing on the road.
      3. Highway stability, easily munching miles after miles.
      4. Low maintenance and acceptable fuel economy.
      Cons:
      1. Suspensions are definitely stiffer than expected. (Better experience after changing the rear mono shocks to the newer model)
      2. It's heavy and not hiding it, but it's manageable, I am 5'7" weighing 65kg and have adopted the sit height and weight situation of the bike.
      3. It is hard to find a good Bajaj Service Centre which can resolve the problems you highlighted, I haven't serviced my bike from Bajaj for the last 4 years.
      4. Typical Bajaj plastic quality issues and vibrations from tank panels as expected.

      To each their own, been one year owning this bike, never felt weight as an issue, 1st month I was a bit cautious as was upgrading from 125 CC bikes, now it feels as if it was lighter, it wouldn't make sense as when you are cruising at 130 amd you pass a truck, it will give you a heavy wobble. Dominar feels like a nice and stable machine, not like a toy bike with a lot of Fibre parts.

    I owned a 2018 Dominar (red with golden wheels) for 3 years. I must confess that the 2017 and 2018 models were best in terms of reliability.
    It was a great bike in terms of stability, performance, reasonable maintenance costs, speed and looks. I sold it in November 2022 and bought a Honda CB 350RS.
    Loving it. While the Honda is a better bike with a much more reliable Engine, Dominar is pleasure on highways.
    But the only thing which prevented me from buying a 2022 Dominar was the Engine blasts which many owners faced in 2019 models. It's shocking that the 2019 models had this and it was a loss of 80 thousand rupees in case if the bike isn't covered under warranty.
    Furthermore, there are so many owners who got the engine head changed within 15 to 20 thousand kms.
    It's a very common issue with new Dominars. Though it's covered under warranty, this is a question on Bajaj's reliability as these things may land customers in to a state of anger and prevent them from buying their bikes.
    Another issue was the oil leak which many owners are facing from magneto coil. Sadly, Bajaj doesn't have any solution for this magneto cover oil leak.
    On the whole, liquid cooled bikes are difficult to maintain and need frequent monitoring on cooling system. One of my friend's Dominar had an issue of engine oil and coolant mixing which damaged the engine. Even this is quite common with new Dominars.
    Sad.

      Thank you for such an honest view on the Dominar. Oil leak is mostly because of overfilled engine oil. Have explained why this happens in one of the comments. A simple check where we see how much engine oil is filled can address this issue.

    A nice and detailed review from you keep up the good work !
    Owned Dominar since Dec 2017-June 2023, adding some points to help buyers, all services do e at Bajaj Service centers only, snd aftermarket accessories from Carbon Racing.
    1. Once the free services are over, the service cost gradually increases, with an average cost of around 4-6 thousand rupees, depending on minor issues, with parts it will go upto 8-12 thousand along with a paid general service
    2. The most challenging issue is chain loosening, which occurs before 500 kilometers. Even with regular chain cleaning, it's frustrating to keep getting it tightened at the service center repeatedly.
    3. My city mileage averaged around 31-32 km/l with decent riding, but on the highway, it reached 32-35 km/l at speeds of 80-90 km/h. Beyond that speed, it dramatically drops to 25 km/l or even lower.
    4. There are numerous options for accessorizing the vehicle to your liking.
    5. The Dominar features powerful headlights
    6. Managing the weight of the bike can be a bit challenging in city traffic, especially in a place like Bengaluru.
    7. Over time, my mileage has dropped to 27-28 km/l in the city after covering 65,000 kilometers. I've had to replace the front oil seal, cone set twice, the chain once, switched to Ceat tires but kept them for a while, replaced the gear change rod, changed the coolant multiple times, and replaced disc pads twice. Additionally, there's an ongoing issue with an oil leak from the left engine casing that Bajaj hasn't resolved since the 6th month of purchase. It requires cleanup and metal paste treatment every 5,000 kilometers to stop the leakage. I also had to give the complete silencer a cost-effective matte paint job to prevent rust. Lastly, while the body paint remains in excellent condition, the engine paint is peeling off.
    I recently sold the Dominar and am now looking for a replacement. To be honest, I feel that only a new Dominar can truly replace it. 😅"

    • @HennisGarage
      @HennisGarage  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for your detailed insight @ganarendra.
      Please note that the oil leak could be because of oil topup which is higher than the required limit. Too much engine oil will cause this issue and the service schedule for oil change also causes this.
      Reduce your engine oil if its above the mark. Let me know if you need a detailed explanation on the same

    I'm a proud owner of Domi 400. I love this bike.
    The only point of improvement according to me is -
    1. Better rear brakes.
    2. More information on display and blutooth connectivity.
    3. Long turning radius
    4. Vibrations at low speed

    Stiffer the suspension, simpler the bike can be controlled in the corners.
    Smoother the suspension tougher will be controlling of bike in the corners. So that's the reason why the suspension in power bike will be very hard.
    In the corners you can knee bend(need skill) the D400 you will be having the confidence to do it. We can't do the same in Himalayan/Xpulse

    It needs only a more powerful engine like a 500cc twin cylinder, for high speeds on the hiway, for example with 140km/h without sress the engine. Even the new 399cc engine from duke 390 would be a good upgrade and give like 42hp horse power from the current 40hp. Of course without to be agressive. I want to bay this motorcycle very much but i'll wait for future upgrades to the engine. Let's see if now bajaj will use for the dominar the new 399 engine from duke 390, or the 500cc twin cylinder that rumors say bajaj is planing for an all new motorcycle

    Great video sir 🎉🎉🎉
    I would like to add a few points as a proud D400 owner myself:
    1. The bike is unassuming when you want to overtake in high gear... you jus need to twist the throttle a bit..with a slight delay the bike will lunge forward.
    2. The brakes are an issue ...but you can easily upgrade the brake pads..I am using Vesrah ceramic pads for both tyres..and it works perfectly.
    P
    3.The best thing i feel when i am riding,is the weight of the bike, in fact encourage you to lean into corners and the exit from corner feels awsomee.❤❤❤

    I liked your opinion on Dominar, however what do you have to say on non E20 versions? How are these bikes going forward....

    • @HennisGarage
      @HennisGarage  11 месяцев назад +1

      @anindyac10
      E20 engines have the advantage of higher octane number. Which means that the fuel air mixture can be compressed more before it auto ignites and causes engine knocking.
      The pre E20 engines might have cases of overheating exhaust valves but this is also predominant near coastal areas and not everywhere. Riding pattern and fuel used also matters. Don’t be worried too much is what I would say.
      Happy to see such a good question. Hope I was able to answer it to your expectations.

      @@anindyac10 Non E20 engines when run on E20 fuel will have lower possibility of engine knocking that I have explained above. The engine could run slightly hotter in this case, however this should not be a problem as backward compatibility of fuel is something that would be studied.

    • @HennisGarage
      @HennisGarage  11 месяцев назад +1

      Engine braking is what happens when you reduce the throttle(accelerator) without pulling the clutch. You feel the bike slows down.
      Use a combination of front, rear and engine brakes to slow down the bike. This is the safest way.

      I don’t see why there’s a need for an engine upgrade on the Dominar. The Duke has been around for a while, known for its performance but has been consistently dropped in the acceleration feel. The dominar doesn’t have this problem.
      If I were to take a call, I would tell the engineers “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. Will have to wait for another 2 years before we can know

      Iam still puzzled why comparing two different genre of motorcycle, RE is what Dominar400 is not ! it's like comparing Cricketer vs footballer. They are good in respective fields. RE classic is cheaper almost by 50k so it's bound to have good sales numbers. By virtue I bought it even though it's not that popular, When it was launched immediately felt connected to it what I want,And bought Dominar of the 1st generation with no history of what it will be. But down the line after riding 30k still not much, But it's holding good. With no issue of anything whatsoever. I bought for its positive virtue Stability, power, handling and mixed package and good VFM, Yes it's lives upto it's Hyperiding thing( but not much). Wish I could have waited little more and bought the UG4 version. But no regret. I ride almost 500 +500 kms every alternative month to my work site and it gives me same excitement as first ride.
