Wow. At time 5:50 - "I can go one more day" - that is the tactic of a winner. It's not that obvious either because it's so easy to fall into 'tomorrow, next week' etc. type of thinking. So much easier to handle a hard situation. Excellent guest and episode!
Thanks for the inspiring interview. One piece that wasn't really talked about was how he gets enough leads to sustain 30k/week. I think that would be something like 15 estimates a week with his 37% close rate. I have found this to be the most difficult aspect of the biz so far....
Cash flow would probably be the best reason. You’re usually wind insurance.e work in roofing which means you’re not getting paid for a little while and need to float cash flow on those expenses while waiting to collect insurance money. Painting is a simpler business, easy to start, low start up capital, quick cash flow.
It’s not bad but can be a lot higher than that. Increasing sales ratio makes a huge impact on profit. Our companies are 40-50%. Only our bottom 10% of reps sell under 40%. Most are over 45%. Only sharing this so that people aim higher and don’t settle at 37%. Our top reps are over 60%. Keep improving!
The state I live in requires proof of experience working under a painting contractor in order to get a license. Any suggestions on how to go about getting licensed if I left my corporate job?
Which state? Have you tried googling this question or making any phone calls? The rules and loopholes / solutions are different everywhere so you kind of have to just problem solve.
So many questions not asked is unreal. Nobody cares about emotion. Where were the leads how did he market. How much residential and commercial business. How did he do commercial insurance and license? First commercial business? You ran out of questions. Stop asking someone else to prep your interview
An additional comment: still one of the best interviews.

Combination of SEO, lead services, referrals, and Facebook ads
I’ll make a note of that for future episodes and to dig more into marketing.
Great video! Investing in coaching and not giving up really paid off.
👊
Love these interviews! Super inspiring. More women's success stories, please. :)
Noted! It’s a male dominated industry but I definitely have some amazing women I will get on some episodes
Inspiring! Good stuff!!
Super inspiring
Great show

Michael is the man
Great stuff. Is there a reason why a person would choose starting a painting business over a roofing company?

This is a great interview. Two nice tips and a great vibe
Monthly add spend? Where are his leads coming from?
37% close rate is phenomenal in any field of construction.

I really do appreciate the feedback. I’ll take this and get better.
Buy the course and find all of that out. You probably won't anyways. Stay broke. Member since 2018.
