- In this video I explain how you can boost your DJI Phantom wifi signal so you can achieve up to 3 miles distance by adding amps to your controller if you want the range of the more expensive drones.

Thank you for sharing. Very few have done a good job like you have for this topic.
Thank you very much. It was a fun project and it works great : )))
Simple.instalation. thank for sharing👍. I will try it in my drone👍
abee arsyad tech Glad you liked it and thanks for subscribing. Definitely boosts your range.
Thanks Johnny much appreciated
To the point and well done!
Nice set-up.
what's up Thank you. The system works excellent.
That transmitter looks good. Nice video and descriptions.
Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. When I first did the mod to the controller I had to do a lot of research and bought a lot of unnecessary components so I figured I would share the end result to help people.
Thanks Johnny! Nice to meet ya. Nice mod!
glenesis Thanks for Subbing 👍 Nice to meet you as well. 🤗
very informative video. That controller is a nice setup. Looking forward to more videos.
I was thinking to do for my Mavic mini something like this! I'm glad you to experienced it! ;) Thanks for sharing information with world!
Hope you fly always without a crush!
Thanks for the comment. Good luck 👍
Cool :)
Put just one of those boosters on my Solo radio and got an extra 16dbm on the rssi. Love those boosters
Jack Hammell Awesome !!!
Best distance 17,250 feet under perfect conditions. Will be posting soon.
Hello Johnny, I just hooked this unit up that you talk about. How blue and fast does the amp light blink. Hell I don’t think my light blinks blue
.
My amp lights up white and stays solid white while it’s on
johnny J FLA Ok 👌. My light 💡 stays white also. Maybe my antennas the wrong one. Lol
Hell
Thank you very much for making this video. But how do you connect both of the amplifiers to that battery ? I'm getting ready to set mine up and I don't understand how everyone is doing it.
JB Block The amps should have one female input on the side of each one. The power cell needs to have two male jacks. If the wires on the power supply are male plus female, you’ll have to solder a male in place of the female on the power supply wires. Good luck.
Now just need external antenna on phantom 3.
yes this works bit of course its illegal unless you have your amature radio lic
Interesting, Noted
its not illegal only ham channels are this is 2.4..
what range do you think I will get on my dji phantom 3 4k. it have the same controller as the advanced and pro so the mod will work. I have magic power on it so I can reach distanses of 1200m without windsurfers.
If you read some of my other replies my best distance under perfect condition with this PA3 and my modifications was 17,250 feet. Be careful when distance testing. It’s a good way to lose your drone.
@@JOHNPJORDAN50 ye i knew that but I have a phantom 3 4k not a phantom 3 advanced its different drones i can reash distanses of 1200 m stock becuase the magic power mod gives extra power but your drone can reach 3,5 km on ce mode and 5 km on fcc mode without magic power. Thats what it says on dji website anyway. But what distanses where you able to get with the stock antennas?
Yes, I have a Phantom as well. This is a different mod for a different drone so I generally get the same distance stock Mavic has a longer flight time. Never did a distance test with it.
All that info is included in my comment page. I was originally getting 1200-2000 feet of WiFi connection with the P3A before the mod. As far as the Phantom goes I’ve never done a mod.
Hope this helps. Please subscribe. Best of luck
@@JOHNPJORDAN50 ok thanks but what do you men with wifi connection? did you have full radio connection before you did the mod but the wifi was bad and you kost the kamera signal?
How can you fly in the sun glaring into your phone or tablet??
I fly with a velcro hood that shields my I pad mini
@@JOHNPJORDAN50 Thank You johnny. Love you footage man
Thank you 😊
hi, Two booster side by side, cause interference with each other?
Doesn't seem to be a problem at all. I have pushed my PA3 to 17,250 feet out over the Gulf of Mexico. I would highly recommend the upgrade if you are looking for a strong Wi-Fi signal
can you provide link to ebay listing for sma make to male connector so I can be sure to get correct item
Hey Doug I'm having trouble pasting the link on here. I just went on Ebay and put in "SMA male to RP-SMA male RF coaxial adapter" RP stands for reverse polarity. They should ship out of Forest Park Illinois so you know your on the right page bro.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
WHAT??dammm!!! i want i want!!! The amp doenst come with those connector?
No. You have to buy connectors on E-bay. You should do the mod Kenny. I did a distance test and my Wi-Fi didn't break up until 15,000 feet. They have the Sunhans amps on Amazon and E-bay. It's $10.00 cheaper on E-bay
you think the same mod can be applied to DJI mavic air ?
gio grig Not sure. Still learning about my Mavic Pro
Looks like a 4k phantom rc
This is a Phantom 3 Advanced controller. Video is for people that want max distance out of their older Phantoms. You can pick up a PA3 for $500.00 these days.
Check out my distance test video. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Johnny J FLA
does this fit the standard
No, Just Advanced and Professional but check out one of my subscribers "welcome to the rock" RUclips channel. He has a standard that has one of the best antenna mods I have seen. He's getting 15,000 feet with his mod. He has a antenna mod installation video for the Standard and couple of distance tests videos. Well worth checking out his channel if your looking for WiFi range on a standard
You can find him on my home channel just scroll down to 'Liked videos" Its a range distance test but it will get you to his channel. "welcome to the rock'
Shit i only bought 1 amp. 2w. Wanted to use on fpv drone and phantom 3
I suggest you change the title... edit it to take out the word "Wi-Fi" because that controller does not use Wi-Fi, it uses lightbridge.
Noted, but it's the WiFi signal that gives you your picture on your screen not the lightbridge.
Sorry but you're mistaken. It's Lightbridge that gives you the FPV video image on your screen. That's why you have to use the cable to connect your mobile device to the controller. If you were using WiFi, you could connect the old-fashioned way - by finding the wifi signal on your mobile device and connecting. Lightbridge is also the reason you can get 3-mile FPV range as opposed to the 1000 meters FPV range of the P3S which is burdened with having to use WiFi.
Understand. Just a question. Why are they called WiFi amps. ? Just curious
Because it's good marketing. These are 2.4 ghz amps and WiFi uses 2.4 ghz. But so does Lightbridge. Most people are familiar with WiFi. A 2.4 ghz amp is going to amplify a 2.4 ghz signal - any signal. Wifi, radioprinter, morse code, Lightbridge, facsimile, anything.
Interesting, Never to old to learn. Thanks
