It blows my mind that we look at all of these beautiful models and think that they must never feel insecure or have any sort of problems in their lives. She is a prime example that addiction does not discriminate against anyone. I'm thankful that she is using her platform to be vulnerable and honest about her previous abuse, by sharing this I believe she is showing so many people that they aren't alone. Beyond proud of this woman!

Models are more often than not the most insecure people. Imagine being judged for the way you look from the age of 13-14 when you’re still basically a kid. It becomes ingrained in their brain, so even in the most regular situations they feel the pressure they need to look great.

As models you get criticized constantly for the way you look. It’s a very competitive industry so you constantly compare yourself. Besides that clients and agencys will always make comments based on your appearance so yes, you’re constantly reminded by the way you look. It’s definitely not as easy industry!! And you definitely get more insecure

We are the most insecure ppl in the world. Everywhere we go we are looked at, analyzed, criticized, commented on. And that is just from walking down the street. Don’t get me started with agents telling you you stop eating and then when u develop an eating disorder, casting directors are aghast that you don’t fit their jeans properly. When u see urself as a product, and men treat you like a luxury product, it becomes very hard to retain your authentic self. Meanwhile, ur miserable inside w a rich famous boyfriend who adores you, going to a list events and traveling the world like a celebrity; in ur late teens/ early 20s you have access to all this power. It’s not healthy. Takes a very strong person w supportive family to survive it.

@@Ohkeh640 no. We just have really bad eating disorders. Drugs are looked down upon now & they ruin your looks, skin, career, ect. Now we just do super clean eating. Paleo/aip/vegan/juicing. Over exercise. Being too busy to eat helps. We burn calories non stop from work. And a lot of girls use adderall. Most girls stop drink once we hit our 20s.

Also, pretty people, like everyone else, usually end up with crap partners, that don't like them for who they are, but are too egotistical to let them go back on the market. Average looking people assume that pretty people can keep a partner based on looks, but in reality that guy is too jealous to let that girl back on the market, though he doesn't like her as a person. This is why they cheat on pretty people, instead of breaking it off. I'm really not surprised she ended up ODing.

People have a negative idea of the VS brand because of how its been portrayed by haters; Ed the original manager has been let go because of some offensive things he said about Trans women and plus size women but his opinion doesnt reflect the brand or models, the brand is a pro-women empowerment it has was one of the first most inclusive high fashion lingire brands and it promotes a healthy ideal for young women to follow although the models are tall thin and gorgeous they try to show all girls to embrace your beauty and be the best you can be they have sense hired a trans woman and plus size women.
Elsa and many models early in their career deal with a lot of pressure, because they have to maintain jobs and relevance to make money, they end up using drugs and alcohol for many reasons like to cope or because theyre involved with the wrong crowd and have no one to be a good influence and some are just not strong enough to fight the industry most models will make it out to live a very normal life and some will have an extraordinary life.

I love this but it’s also kind of like... so is the industry pushing for models to be kinda, messed up? To be more interesting and “make it”? Like it sounds like she’s saying you should have some tragic story or substance struggle, I know she’s not, but it can definitely sound like that

Complete segway, but is Swedish the closest Scandinavian language to English, or is she just using lots of English terms when she talk about America? I heard it has the simplest grammar and is the easiest to learn in that group? A lot of the vocabulary sounds the same. Any truth to that?

@@alexia8434 I have and it seems to shift between entirely incomprehensible, to some sentences being almost exactly the same. I heard a flemish film where they said "der field ist sown" or something like that, meaning the field is sown with seeds. It's probably the closest language to English, but still far enough away so we can't really communicate using Dutch. There is the added complication that 99% of Dutch people are fluent in English. So we never try to use the two to communicate, as the Norweigans and Swedish might.
