This episode has been widely acknowledged, as it should have. What makes the interview great is its realism. Chris was either honest or expressed his take on the behind the scenes of the wrestling industry. There were no "politically correct" comments. It was just real. It had an old school interview feel, for me, because, again, this interview kept it real. Simple as that.
Chris really feels very authentic when interviewed. I really enjoy hearing his perspective and hope he becomes even more of a historian and commentator on the wrestling industry in the future.
I know it's not something to be proud of, but you have got to respect the fact he overcame his addictions too. Not only can you respect him as a wrestler and athlete, but you gotta respect him as a man too. Went to the absolutely lowest of the lows and came back, that is just so unbelievably difficult and rare to see with wrestlers. Truly an all time great and 100% on the Mount Rushmore of wrestlers.
I never listen to the full podcasts. Glad I did on this one. I was at some of those shows, and watched all of them. Appreciate the memories. Thanks fellas.
It's a shame these two never had a World title feud. They only had the short feud when Kurt was starting out, but a more experienced Angle vs. Jericho in 2005 would have been a classic.
If Angle never left in 06 I think we would've got a world title feud between them in the late 2000's and 2010's. Would've been absolutely brilliant too.
No BS too. Both guys would admit their faults and also times when they were right, both perfect examples of how to conduct yourself as wrestlers and not take it too seriously.
I must say i loved the Vince vs Hogan match at that mania just for the pure drama and Storytelling in it, gimme that over any of the non selling high spot crap we see today
I'm not a fan of the no selling. I see this today: a guy will hit a move then the guy just bounces off the ropes hits a move then the other immediately hits a move back. I can't stand that stuff.
@@blakemaxfield4267 There’s honestly nothing wrong with that as people can literally get shot and keep going off of adrenaline, y’all are just used to heavy ass men pacing between every strike for the sake of saving stamina. One of the best podcasts I've ever listened to. I could listen to Kurt and Chris talk about old WWF/E stuff for the rest of my life and never get bored. Two of the greatest to ever do it, and I love the respect between the two.
You gotta lov Kurt. I think his podcast out does Austin's or any other wrestlers atm. Because Austin likes to veer off to long into his past glory days, About bein on the road, in recycle stories at times. Kurt keeps his questions short in sweet, & the host answering them with in the perfect timing, without the co host rambling way to long answering one question. Jericho did Phenomenal.
I remember that. When Jericho, Eddie, Malenko and Saturn moved over I kind of wanted the cruiser weights to come along with them. Juventude, Psychosis, Mysterio and Kidman. The cruiser weights were exciting to watch and they were always on earlier in the night
Jericho and Owens friendship/rivalry is what got me back into wrestling, how they didn’t get the main event at wrestlemania was an absolute disgrace, Jericho and Owens’ story was one of the greatest of the decade.
Watching WWF in 2000, Kurt and Chris were both rising up the card at the exact same time, one as a heel and the other as a babyface. They both were making a name for themselves in WWF at the same time.. then they ended up on different shows when they split the roster in half
Chris Jericho IS the goat of professional wrestling. 30 years in the business, countless classic matches has reinvented himself and is still going today
A lot of people love to paint Hulk Hogan as the greatest wrestler but in my opinion the Attitude Era produced the greatest wrestling personas in all of wrestling history. Top greatest are definitely Kurt, Rock, Undertaker, Austin, Jericho and HHH. Hogan and Sheik and Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior were great but but the Attitude Era guys took the business to a whole other level and they all transcended the company. All 6 I named also were able to reinvent their characters constantly because a lot of it was really them so as they change so do their characters. It was story telling and star power at its absolute best. Yeah Hogan got a lot of hype back in his day but to me those 6 guys are the epitome of wrestling. All wrestlers now want to be like any of those 6 names I just mentioned. And kinda HBK too but he was injured for like 75% of the Attitude Era by the time the Rock was a big star in 97-98, HBK was retired…
Jericho is truly one of the greatest guys to ever be in the business. Whenever you see a gofundme posted for a wrestler, Jericho is one of the same people you see constantly that donates and helps people out. Not only that, but you can see he really does care about the business and the people in it and no longer in it. I know it probably wasn't just Jericho who managed to get the Owen Hart Cup sorted out. But he didn't HAVE to do that, he wasn't obligated to do it, he did it out of respect for Owen and his career. He even talks about Benoit, which... I know is a very sensitive subject, but AT LEAST he is open about it and doesn't shy away from discussing him.
Can we have some underappriated overlooked TNA Kurt Angle feuds as guests soon? Desmonde Wolfe, Mr Anderson. Or even the popular ones like Christian, and AJ? Or even Kevin Nash's awesome relation with the X-Division? Been a huge fan of yours since I was a kid. And seriously really love the Podcast, but as much as I love the content with WWE stuff. I still think your TNA runs are hella underrated and overlooked.
Kurt was at a dark time in his life when he was working in TNA. Do you remember those “perc angle” jokes? Dude was taking 50+ pills a day and getting divorced from his wife at the time. Being in a storyline with her and Jeff Jarrett. I’m sure he doesn’t want to remember those moments vividly.
