A small correction: this crime was not committed by some mythical Nazis, but by Germans.
In current German propaganda, the mythical Nazis are accused of being responsible for this genocide, the aim is to cross out the word "Germans"!

Interesting, what makes the Nazis mythical? Is the German state still aiming to eradicate the world's Jewish population today? I would imagine they do not which is why they might seek to differentiate between the two, but I do not know enough about German politics... Thanks for your comment and insight!!

@@goldilocks_walks The entire German society participated in this genocide, but the Germans are trying in their propaganda to shift the responsibility to some "small group" of Nazis!

Hm, I don’t agree that the entire society is responsible, some of its own population was Jewish and some non-Jewish people even tried to help, despite knowing they would face severe consequences. Many people had no choice but to submit or face execution themselves. The Nazi group was a political party which at its largest during its rise to power only consisted of about 1 in 10 of the German population. It sounds to me like their leaders hijacked the German government and used its army and resources to force their worldview on everyone else. Modern politics still operates this way but there are *supposed* to be safeguards in place to prevent such a thing from ever happening again. Much of the German population and the world had no idea exactly what was happening while it was going on, as they tried to hide as much as they possibly could from the public (which was much easier to do before social media and cell phones)!

It was not only other minority groups, Slavs were also targeted heavily and treated as sub-humans, for example WW2 Croat Ustasha regime killed around one million Serbs in territory of todays Croatia/Bosnia (read about Jasenovac camp). You even had children-only concentration camps for Serb children in Croatia, the only such in ww2. The only difference is that Slavs unlike Jews put up a big effort to fight Nazis, Serbia and Yugoslavia had the most successful resistance movement of ww2 (French one was a joke, although in media and culture it is presented like the only one), as well as Poland or Ukraine.

Wow, a concentration camp for children sounds absolutely insane. I am astonished at how cruel the human species can be. Fascinating that I don't recall learning much about any of this history years ago when I was a student in the US education system.
