Kamelot has so many breathtaking gems! - March of Mephisto (seriously, right up your alley!) - Elizabeth Part 1,2 and 3 (yeah, one song) - Memento Mori (Khan REALLY shows of his voice in this) - Human Stain (nothing beats that beat) - III Ways to Epica (such a unique song) Take your pick and prepare to have your mind blown. ;)
The live version of Elizabeth (Oslo, ruclips.net/video/ecvHBLadaxM/видео.html) is one of the best examples of Roy's vocal range and ability to switch styles quickly.
Little detail, most know I guess.... when it was recorded Cold Winter's Night was at that year indeed the coldest night of that winter. I just forgot where I put that DVD.... I have it. I know I do!
Charlotte Wessels from Delain also has a song with Kamelot. Speaking of Delain, you won't regret hearing the song Masters of Destiny by them. It's a masterpiece.
The live version of this song, from the Rockefeller in Oslo, Norway, where they had Simone join them on stage.. is simply amazing and I do really recommend checking it out! (even if only just off camera, check it out man!)
This is honestly the video where Simone looks the best. You should really just go on a Kamelot marathon, they have a lot of great songs like the ones I told you about on Patreon a couple weeks ago(Sacrimony and Liar Liar)
Kamelot fan girl right here. This is the reason Roy is called God. He had to take a break for a few years he was burnt out that's when Kamelot got Tommy their current singer.
Burnt out? I thought he quit because "God was there after all". I loved him and it broke my heart. thatdevilmusic.wordpress.com/2011/04/22/roy-khan-officially-quits-kamelot/
@@stevecampbell9670 Little of column A and a little of column B. Dude absolutely suffered from burnout. Just listen to live performances from just before his departure, the toll of constant touring is STARKLY apparent.
Roy Khan, the old singer of Kamelot (1997-2012) is one of the best power metal singers. He started at the age 17 and studied opera for 3 years. He joined his first band called "Conception" in 1991 and they released several albums since 1998 when he left the band to join Kamelot. The first 2 albums are both 9/10. Power melodic metal. He was the main reason why Kamelot became so popular on the power metal sceene when he joined the band. Roy Khan is a monster of metal. He deserves more. He's one of my favor singers of all time and "Roll the fire" still in my playlist since 1993. Nice done Mr!!!!!!!!!!!
Kamelot is one of my favorites! Check out March of Mephisto, Liar, Liar, Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife), Ghost Opera, Love You To Death, Elizabeth, Phantom Divine, among others.
Yeap.. Nightwish army here and huge Kamelot.. and Epica fan! Was lucky enough to have gone to a Kamelot concert back in the day and hear that song live sang by Roy Khan... And have gone to 4 concerts of Epica,...Simone.. is magnificent. \m/
This song takes me wayyy back! Back when music videos like this one were just starting to pop up on the iTunes store. As a side note, Simone was 20 years old in this. Freaking amazing!
This is a really old Kamelot song that had the old singer, Roy Khan. Their new stuff has Tommy Karevik. You should check out Insomnia, Liar Liar (feat. Alissa White-Gluz), and Sacrimony (feat. Alissa White-Gluz and Elize Ryd). They also have a song featuring Charlotte Wessels from Delain called Under Grey Skies. They have a few songs from their most recent album that feature Lauren Hart (from the band Once Human). Those songs are Phantom Divine and Mindfall Remedy. Another song on their most recent album features Jennifer Haben from Beyond the Black. That song is called In Twilight Hours.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Kamelot! This song - while good - is just scratching the surface of what this band is capable of! Anything from The Black Halo album would be amazing to check out, but you've gotta do Memento Mori!
Oh man, you just reacted to one of the classics of the classics of symphonic metal, and thats why hits you different. The epicness that you feel is the symphonic part that this bands include to the traditional sound of metal, and it's so goooood! You need to see this song in live version, also with Simone, just saying.
Ah... Roy Kahn! Absolutely a beast of a singer! Sadly he burnt out, and went back to Norway where he took some work for his Church i believe? When Floor took over for Anette in Nightwish in 2012, Kamelot did do the warm up. Elize and Alyssa did both sing for Kamelot at the time, and were stand-ins for one day. There is a private video of them all on stage at the end on "the last ride of the day". glorious moment.
If this is how you get into Kamelot, I'm all for it! They have so many fantastic songs! This is one of those bands that's actually better live. I've seen them in concert quite a few times, always lost my voice if they had Sailorman's Hymn on the playlist. I actually have a letter from Roy, he's such a nice man! You can retweet something or send a picture back with a signature and some words, but no, this man took the time to write a whole letter back. For that he will have my undying respect. He wouldn't be able to pick me out of a crowd yet treated me like a Christmas dinner guest. Tommy Karevik does a pretty good job, but well, he isn't Roy.
If you think you can handle it, there is a song of KAMELOT, whit guest vocals from Elize Ryd (from Amaranthe) and Alissa White-Gluz (from Arch Enemy) it's call "SACRIMONY (Angel of Afterlife) [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]".
This song made me branch out into male bands in metal after having been completely stuck with Nightwish and Within Temptation from 2000-2005, and Roy still has the most beautiful male voice I have ever heard, his new band: Conception is worth checking out! And side-note, the video is recorded in my home-town, I regularly pass by that church and the Museum of Art which is also shown
I've been watching you for months, and I'd say we have the exact same taste in music. Been waiting so long for the first listen to Kamelot! Change the thumbnail from Simone to Roy and please continue with more of their stuff!
I just found this and I soooooooo wish you’d done the live version with Roy and Simone. Absolutely fantastic and studio level singing. Phenomenal...but hey this works too lol :)
Kamelot is a band that you will need to delve DEEP into. Much like Nightwish, there are three distinct and separate 'eras' to the band. There is before Roy, with Roy, and then AFTER Roy. This is from the Black Halo album, an absolute MUST HAVE for any true symphonic metal fan. If you like what you hear, check out their Blu-Ray, One Cold Winter's Night. Simone joins them live on stage for this song and it's absolutely fantastic.
Finally some Kamelot on your channel! I suggested it few months ago but I'll repeat now - > Kamelot - Elizabeth I, II i III in live concert One cold winters night I see Roy Khan as you see Floor xD
The Black Halo is my favourite Kamelot album. It was the first one I bought, and I have no regrets. You have to play it all the way through, because it tells a story. I personally love albums that do that.
Finally Kamelot here! In my opinion Kamelot is the male equivalent of Nightwish. Very diverse band as well, with amazing vocalists. Btw, Simone is married to the keyboardist of Kamelot, and Epica took their name after the album with same title from Kamelot. That album is, hands down, the perfect symphonic metal record to date. Carry on, mate. It's always fun watching your reactions. 🤘
This is a great song. I agree with your statement that it’s a Headbanger but epic. For more Kamelot and Simone Simons, check out House On A Hill. For more Roy Khan, check out the new Conception album
hey Mr. Rock N Roll, did you know that Epica's bandname is inspired by the album Epica from Kamelot? Kamelot is amazing, they've got so much more to jump into - old stuff with Roy Khan for vocals and newer stuff with Tommy Karevik - both amazing singers in their way
I don’t know who you want to fight, but Epica has made some Attack on Titan songs for you in case you have to beat up some giants. Or some dwarven metal? I am suggesting Wind Rose for eons :P
I personally prefer the live version of this song from One Cold Winters Night,. That was a concert they recorded and put out on DVD. Still one of my favorite concerts to watch.
At last!!!! You reacted to "THE SONG". This is "THE SONG", the music sock before someone gets to know "Ghost Love Score" of Nightwish. But the "must" thing is to see the same song live from One Cold Winter's Night. It's again like seeing Ghost Love Score in videoclip and not from the lengedary WACKEN. Roy Kan was one of the best singers (now he's not in the music industry) in heavy metal with a very warm voice. Next song from the same live should be: "Center of the Universe"
Roy is still in the music industry. He came back with his old band Conception and released an album in 2018. I think they have a new album coming this year too.
Alright, let me tell you a story 😁 Simone and Mark, the founders of Epica (and yes, they were together back in the day) are huge fans of Kamelot. Therefore, they named their own band after the Kamelot album "Epica". Later on, Simone married Kamelot's drummer Oliver Palotai and they got a daughter together. The male singer in this video is Roy Khan, the former lead singer of Kamelot. He had to leave the band for some years due to burnout and their current singer Tommy Karevik jumped in. Still, many fans criticize Tommy for not being as good as Roy, but I think it's just the same thing as happened to Nightwish. The former vocalist will always define the basic, original sound of a band. But when he or she gets replaced, people just compare instead of appreciating some stylistical changes.
This album is a touching retelling of Faust. This is in many ways regarded as the golden age of Kamelot. Watch "The Coldest Winter Night" live DVD. It's bloody magical. |m|
Awesome react! You should know Kamelot has a new singer now AND they made a song with both Elize and Alissa.. so you should chek that out ASAP. Sacrimony (angel of afterlife). You can thank me later🤣
Oh man, Kamelot. I used to love them, but I haven't been a huge fan of their newer stuff. This song is one of my favorites though! If you want some others, I suggest March of Mephisto, Solitaire/Rule the World, or Torn.
As a fellow Kamelot Fan, I would love to see/hear a reaction to "Veil of Elysium" which is one of their newer songs! "March of Mephisto" is another of my favorites but there are Sooooo many amazing songs to pick from them. I could also give a list of lesser known similar bands if you'd like.
Kamelot is a great band, perhaps you should check out older stuff from the main singer. Back in the day he record awesome stuff with Seventh Wonder (I bet you love it). At the end Delain was showing up, well they are a great band too, and believe it or not... Dutchies are involved too. In case you didn't notice, we have a special breeding program for female metal singers ;)
Roy Khan has a *phenomenal* voice - just velvet to the eardrums. I very, very much suggest you check out more Kamelot. Anything from Ghost Opera, as well as the other suggestions in the comments. Simone is beautiful in this, too, though she's not in most of their stuff, obviously.
Another Kamelot song featuring Simone is House On a Hill. It took me a while to enjoy The Haunting when I first heard it, but House On a Hill was love at first listen. Enjoy!
Sometimes I think "Maaan...I wish I knew of this kind of music when I was younger instead of listening to pretty much trash" but then I realize "You know what ...no. I wouldn't have the options to find them out and even if I did..I was just too immature to appreciate it. You gotta dig through the rubble to get to the treasure"
