Yup no lead singer they were created with the intention that every member could hold their own. Legends!
To me, they were like the female counterparts of Boyz II Men. Oh, and I cosign with the "legends" declaration. lol
I have to temper myself from thinking these reactor kids are just dumb-asses. I knew shit about musicians from the 20's even growing up. I am being real, "Get off my Lawn!" right now. I think because we actually had to put in effort to research music.
@@breebarry4422 Imagine for a moment that you had the same access to information back then that we have now. A phone that's an encyclopedia right in your pocket. Devices that allow you to contact other people around the world whenever you want. And someone tells you about music you've never heard of before in your life, but you're intrigued. Wouldn't you have taken the same opportunities to broaden your musical horizons?
The kids today are fine. They just have more ways of doing things available to them than we ever dreamed. JV here is just letting us see the process of how he learns about music, and entertaining most of us along the way. And he IS learning, no doubt about that. He's really come quite a long way in his musical knowledge since he started. He's definitely no "dumb-ass".
Down was the lead in most of there song together
"Legend" is a strong word. They had no #1 hits (close at #2). Best album ranked #8. None of them became stars in solo careers. Compare them to say The Beatles with a slew of #1 hits as a band and all 4 of them (yes even Ringo) have MULTIPLE #1 singles as solo artists. The Beatles are legends. En Vogue was an extremely solid group, with a few great albums, a handful of really good songs like this one and then disappeared off the music map.
There is no lead singer. They swap per song based on the vocalization needed for the sound they are going for. They can all SANG!
Probably the most vocally gifted girl group ever. Dawn sings lead on this, but they are all lead singers and take turns singing lead on different tracks. Their performances on The Arsenio Hall Show are legendary. Also check out Dawn with Lucy Pearl "Don't Mess With My Man".
Was going to mention Lucy Pearl, great album.
Yup... everything you just said. AMEN.
They wer some band... i dont think they got the love they deserved back in the day... but here we are now... appreciating it via a youtuber who listens to his fans...i love that..
Best girl group, hands down...
En Vogue is a group where EVERY member can sing their ass off. They have no lead singer, but Dawn did most of the lead on this banger. React to Hold On next which was their breakout hit.
Yes Hold On for sure, my fav of theirs
Okay we get it damn
Dawn sang lead and wrote on most of their songs. It was part of why they broke up...she felt she didn't get what she deserved for her share of the contribution.
Better than Destiny's child
@@aya9af I think it was more of a management problem why they broke up. Some of the members thought they weren't getting paid much and that management was making all the money off of them. But even though some left the group En Vogue is still doing their thang. 🤩
"Giving Him Something He Can Feel" has to be next on your En Vogue song list 😁
He can't handle that 😆
Definitely!! That video is sooooo sexy classy!!! Girl crush for real 😍😍😍
@@deepreddawg2510 probably not 🤭😁
Yes! Would be a whole different sound from them… 😍 I recorded that video on VHS from MTV cuz I wanted to watch it over and over! ❤️😊
Yesss!
I highly recommend En Vouge's song, "Giving Him Something He Can Feel".
He's gonna LOVE that one!
Oh yess he will 🤎🤎✌🏾✌🏾
Yessss that video…. Stunning!!! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼😍😍😍
He ain't ready😂
He will shit. Such a great song and video. We had it soo good back then
Hold On by Envogue was their first hit I think. You will love the acapella in the beginning.
yes, still hot
Yes!! Where it all started for the Divas.
Sad face cause en vogue had like 2 albums before this showed up on a soundtrack
Never gonna get it was a fun, huge hit.
Yes! Definitely a good one to react too!!
Song was callled 'My Lovin'
You gotta listen to Hold On, they came onto the scene showing their chops early in 1990. These are their later songs. That acapella in Hold On is worth it alone.
I agree I bloody love that song ❤️
For general information EN VOGUE is still recording, and I think a couple of years ago they put out a couple of new songs, although they act as a trio now. You might like the song that EN VOGUE and SALT-N-PEPA did together, WHATTA MAN. It is very good and very funny.
Their debut ‘Hold On’ really shows their vocal ability. The a cappella beginning part. That was an ear opener for me to make me notice the group. Lol
Try En Vogue with Salt n Peppa...Whatta Man
"Never Gonna Get it (my Lovin)", "Hold On," "Giving Him Something He Can Feel;" They are QUEENS! 🙌🏾💕
😀I requested the same ones! Hope we see them soon!!
EnVogue is one group that didn't actually have a lead singer. Dawn was lead on this song. But they were all lead singers and they all could sing as well as each other!!
En Vogue-Hold On
I'm telling you, watch "My Lovin" (You're never gonna get it) and "Giving him something he can feel". Even if you don't review them, you have to watch those videos!! Arguably my favorites of this group.
Please do not wait so long to hear another En Vogue song. Please!
Shut up don’t tell him what to do
I really miss 90s groups like TLC, En Vogue, Destiny's Child, Salt N Peppa and so on. There is nothing alike nowadays.
These women are amazing. Never Gonna Get It, is another great song by these talented ladies! Thanks for the reaction!
✌🏻🙂
Never clicked so fast!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Ikr?! I skipped his other 4 reactions and went straight to this.
Best female Vocal group of ALL TIME!! Oh they are sooooo goood! They are seriously a female vocal super group.
4 Lead Singers, top hits, class, elegance, and beauty. Just greatness
Yes 90s R&B was the best! Their harmonies are like sweet. Smooth honey! These ladies ROCK!!!
You don't wanna miss out. Check out Giving Him Something He Can Feel. You won't regret it
Definitely!! They’re stunning in that video!!
En Vogue was like the female version of Boyz II Men. Each member took the lead at various points in each of their songs, but the vocal harmonies were top notch. Unfortunately, this was their last song as a quartet, and they continue on today as a trio. Dawn Robinson, who sang the verses in this song, left the group over contract disagreements and had a few hits ("Dance Tonight ", "Don't Mess With My Man ") with a group called Lucy Pearl. Terry Ellis, who sang lead at the end of the video had a solo hit with the the song "Wherever You Are." Other exceptional songs/videos from the group you should definitely check out are: "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) ", "Hold On", "Don't Go ", "Runaway Love ", and "Giving Him Something He Can Feel."
En Vouge is one of the best. There are so many fantastic songs from them. Never Gonna Get It would be a great one to do next.
Seems strange growing up with these, going to the shop to get their new single and this guy who’s new to them and hearing them for the first time.
They were just awesome, a time when you walked in the studio, sang your song and left. No auto tune bs.
They were perfect
Check out Never Gonna Get It, Giving Him Something He Can Feel, and their first hit Hold On
Another group of gorgeous voices - Brownstone “If you love me” should be on your list.
I second that!! Please react to it Jay.
Yes!!! Please react to this Jay, brownstone are amazing!
whew, and don’t forget about grapevyne 🔥
Yesss great!
I love how the camera and each woman rotate as they switch "leads", so that it's clear that there's no lead singer. This song and video are the perfect way to feature each member.
The movie in the background is called "Set it off" from 96. You should def watch if u havent seen. For some more soulful 90s check out Keith Sweat "Nobody" or just about anything from Luther Vandross.
I was in love with Dawn Robinson in 90s. Formed a group with Raphael Saadiq called Lucy Pearl. They have some good songs, check out Dance Tonight. Saadiq also has some great songs with his group Tony Toni Tone as well.
No twerking no tounge hanging out no crouching with legs wide open. Just pure talent and great entertainment
Lmfao @ tongue hanging out with the legs wide open
Gotta check out some of their others. “Hold On To Your Love” (that was their breakout song) and “Never Gonna Get It” for starters.
Listen to their first single Hold On. Starting there they showed the world they have powerful voices and on point harmony.
Their vocals are so tight! They harmonies so beautifully and each one of them can sing for real!!!
Giving Him Something He Can Feel is a great song of theirs. Super sexy with an oldies, throwback vibe. Also, Whatta Man, a song with Salt N Pepa.
Wow this takes me back. That harmony!! Great to see you back to them. 90s R&B was such a vibe.
No leads in this group!!! You really have 4 leads singing together. The most talented girl group EVER!!!!
90's music, the soundtrack to my life growing up🙂
Yep. The point of them was each one of them were S+ tier singers, with amazing harmonies. They were untouchable.
En Vogue is my favorite female group EVER! You definitely need to check out "Hold On", the song that started it all, & "Never Gonna Get It". As others have said, the breakdown on that song is KILLER! ❤️ I prefer the group as a quartet, but they also work as a trio.
You also need to check out "Give It Up, Turn It Loose" & "Giving Him Something He Can Feel".
Amazing song! Amazing voices! They're all lead singers! Try Giving Him Something He Can Feel, a whole different vibe. Enjoy!
That video!! They’re so stunning!! 👌🏼😍😍
Their voices are all amazing and they're all gorgeous too.
They are so good. Wish they would’ve been around longer.
They're still around. They tour constantly & they've released new songs periodically.
I first heard EN VOGUE In 1984, and am still #1 fan in 2024. Finally saw them in 2023 on Colorado USA. Phenominal , and Magical night.
Dude you were right all 4 of those girls of En Vogue can just flat out just sang!
EnVogue had some great hits! You're taking me back J! 😁
Oh Yes!!!Hugh En Vogue fan.ALL these girls songs are fire. They are the whole package baby .Have you reviewed Heavy D and the boys (Now that we found love)? 90s hip hop also RIP Heavy D was in a few movies also.
I love them, they're such a globally loved group! This is probably their biggest worldwide hit ever, i listened to it soooo many times.
En Vogue!! Love this group! So talented!!!
I know I'm boring but I still recommend Shanice "I Love Your Smile" ☺️
Beautiful song sang beautifully. And it's a vibe.
I think he already reacted to it. Did you check his video listings?
@@tamcon72 No, Jay didn't react to this song.
@@MonisiaMarysia OK, thanks. I must be getting him confused with some other reactor. I need to stop binge-watching all these channels on a Friday night : )
This is one of my favorites of theirs. ❤️ They are legends.
Please check out ''Too Gone Too Long'' to see the other members shining, especially Terry. Every single one can and does sing lead in En Vogue on different songs. Most groups would be lucky to have one member as vocally talented as every single En Vogue member is.
My personal fave!
Terry KILLS it on Too Gone Too Long. Such an underrated gem in their discography.
@@MickeyDs14 IKR. All commentators who know this gem are super cool in my book :D
@@Marc-zi5cq haha. Thank ya! Damn, I Wanna Be Your Lover is also another great Terry-led song. It’s a shame Dawn left when she did. I truly believe EV3 would’ve given them more of a chance at longevity.
@@MickeyDs14 EV3 is my favorite and yes Damn IWBYL is one of my faves. Terry is incredible. Whatever was also so cool with the video and all. EV3 at least went top 10 in most important major music markets like US, Germany, UK etc. where En Vogue and R&B is generally loved. What happened to Masterpiece Theatre on the other hand was a shame. I think it only did ok in Germany and Switzerland and bombed everywhere else :(
Had to come back and suggest listening to their song, “Runaway Love” to me it’s a vocal masterpiece
I totally agree!!!
Absolutely! It’s still on my playlist.
Runaway Love is their most underrated single. It's absolutely beautiful.
Givin him something he can feel will show even another side of them! Also, never gonna get it!
Seriously you HAVE to check out Giving Him Something He Can Feel. Trust. You will definitely feel. They look 🔥🔥🔥🔥that I have a serious girl crush for them in this video 😂. Soooo stunning. Where is that type of class these days?! *drool* 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼💕💕
Oh, man, one of my all time faves -- smooth when you want smooth, enough rhythm to move if you feel like moving, complexity that makes you appreciate good headphones, melody to make a bass-strong sound system sing. Just an all-around sweet musical experience. Thumbs up!
Great band. No auto-tune in the 90's either, just talent.
To quote Yoda, "Much to learn, you have." Please check out "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" by EnVogue. Then thank me later.
🤣💃🏾
They were all Lead singers! Glad you got it!
EN VOGUE WERE JEWELS !💖
Giving him something he could feel!
I'm a true subscriber !
Thanx Jv
Giving him something he can feel is also a great track by En Vogue.
"HOLD ON" You need that song in your life too. It was their debut single. They do an a capella at the beginning of the song from Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, as well as a very young Michael Jackson with the Jackson 5, called "Who's loving you?"
That debut song instantly made them a household name.
"Giving him something he can Feel" and "Yesterday" are fantastic songs to check out by these talented ladies
LOVE EnVogue!!! Favorite Female Group.
Love "No Fool No More", "Never Gonna Get It", "Hold On", & "Giving Him Something He Can Feel".
Love Dawn's work with Lucy Pearl "Don't Mess With My Man" and "Dance Tonight".
Love Terry Ellis' solo song "Wherever You Are".
Thanks so much. This is one of my fav songs of En Vogue besides 'Hold on'. I think for me the intro of both songs with the strong vocals even with a different member singing lead on them is what really grabs me. I love strong vocals in the beginning of a slow melody. 🤩👍
Bloody love the 90s. Best musical era
I first heard of En Vogue in 1984ish, and they have forever been my Favorite R&B Female group. I'm actually a Metal Head/ Rocker. Finally saw them Live 2019 at Winter Park Jazz Festival in Colorado USA. 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼 Still Great After all these Years. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Their harmony is unmatched. They were referred to as the Supremes of the 90’s. But unlike The Supremes, each member could hold their own, each taking turns singing lead.
Well, each Supreme’s member could hold their own as well. They just weren’t allowed to 😅
@@ddoctriness It was the Diana show, really. Florence and Mary never sang lead. When they were just starting out in Motown, they were known as the "No Hit Supremes", they tried everything even switching the girls around, and once Diana became lead singer, the hits started piling up. Despite what happened behind the scenes, the public loved the Supreme sound with Diana Ross front and center.
One of my favorite music from En Vogue
I love them😍💜they were all about talent! The way they carried their selves,so classy, elegant, & STILL clothed! Music industry has changed so much since then! My favorite song is Hold on to your love!! 💯😍💜💜
The best female group of all-time. They're not only stunning beautiful, but each of them can sing amazing lead vocals. Please react next to "My Lovin(Never Gonna Get It)" and "Hold On".
This is their best track by far, they all sing lead parts ❤️
En Vogue were the best vocal group of the 90’s male and female. Their harmonies are legendary. You need to react to “Hold On” next, that’s their signature song and it was a hit in 1990.
A lot of great music to explore with En Vogue. My favorite is Give Him Something He Can Feel.
These girls were everything in the 90’s. Love them ❤️
This was the shit. I had a crush on the lead singer and the short haired one. So damn fine. And talented
Wooow the harmonies, the voices... All about this group is fantastic. They Put all their soul in this song
The class, the beauty, the voices, and the music. I love EnVogue. They are hands down best mainstream vocal girl group of all time.
They are so gorgeous
Yes all the ladies can sing lead and hold their own. Song is from "Set it Off' movie.
That's what was so special about the group...they all could really sang!!!!
Love, love, love this song! Have not heard it for years--thanks for the memories!
There is no lead singer. They can all rock it! You gotta do "My Lovin', another song with attitude. "Whatta man", the song they did Salt'n'Pepa. That's a banger too.
This is definitely my favorite song from this group. All AMAZING voices, this was also from one of my favorite movies, SET IT OFF. IMO this movie deserved an award for phenomenal acting and Envogue for best song on the soundtrack, if that is even a category. Love your channel. Keep up the good work. ☺
React to Hold On and Giving Him Something He can Feel. The last one was originally in the movie Sparkle (1976) and also sung by Lonette McKee in the movie and on the album by Aretha Franklin.
This blows mind that all of these 90s songs some people never heard before.
Legendary group where every member is capable of leading. They have many hits, you should definitely do more of them.
En Vogue best vocal group of their time
You gotta watch Lucy Pearl - Dance Tonight. Dawn Robinson is incredible. I really love Terry Ellis - Wherever You Are. These ladies are so talented.
This song just rings so heavy for me in my soul. I remember listening when I was like 8 and thinking I’m gonna be a married man soon
Their all lead singers in this group..that's why they are iconic
Please do more En Vogue! They are unmatched! They are top notch and have so many great songs! I’d check out Giving Him Something He can Feel next. That was our introduction to the group.
Love En Vogue!!!
En vogue pushed to many boundaries.. loved them.. I don't think av ever heard a bad song from them.. every one had a purpose ❤
Another great choice and reaction to angelic voices from a classic, incredibly talented women's group from the day 💕
Gotta do “hold on” next!
I know you love to see the versatility/creativity of these groups. To hear another side of this group, listen to "Giving him Something He Can Feel".
With slightly different lyrics this could easily be a Bond theme.
Yessssss them some sangin ladies you should check out more of their music they all are lead singers n their harmonies are unmatched in the game!!!
R&B most definitely peaked in the 90s
