I still daily drive mine...same year as this. 235,000 miles other than basic maintenance & still going strong. We have 3 other vehicles but this van is reliable & drives amazing! Don't believe I'll ever sell her...just drive it till the wheels fall off! 🤣
Can you believe this car was 12 years old with 164,000 miles?! I mean, all the original badging is still there! The paint is in great shape, no scratches anywhere! The interior is in amazing shape! She’s a beauty!!!
My mother bought a van just like this except it's a base model or LX model. It's a great van powered by the 3.3L V6 that has 202435 approximate miles. Still running strong.
I've seen some vans that have gotten to at most 310,000 miles. And I hope so too. I'd buy a van like my mother's but I don't have much of a purpose for a van so I'll just stick to my little escort for now. It does the trick. Lol.
I have a gold (beige) color of this exact model with the 3.8L and has been very reliable, just hit over 150k now, the only difference it that it has no heated seats or AWD and the leather seats look different.
It's so weird watching this review! My family's owned one of these for years, exactly like the one in the video, same model year and everything. I grew up with it, learned to drive with it, and it's what I still drive if I have to go somewhere. It's easy to drive. Hard to park, though, and the driver's seat visibility leaves much to be desired. Nonetheless it's not a bad vehicle at all, and seeing how enthusiastic Kyle is about it is pretty great XD
My mom bought one of these In 2000. It was the 1999 gold limited And we had it up on till has year when she was in a bad car accident and the car was throw into a parking lot across the road and she came out with no scratch. Now we have the 2008 town & country limited and love it. This is a good van we never had to get repair on Any major parts only the a/c. Thnx Kyle this brought back great memories.
I love watching mini van videos! I love the older and new models! I had a dodge 03 and 98 town & country ,Pontiac transport,Nissan quest, and now in a 2015 town & country!!!
this review brought back a lot of memories from when my family had one of these back then. Your reviews are so thorough and well done, thank you so much! I have enjoyed learning about all different types of vehicles from your videos. Great job!
I still have my 1997 Caravan. This model looks still great even today. I placed LED accent lighting in the front and rear (Audi style). My van has 185K miles and no major problems. I don`t drive it as much since I have other cars. But, still original paint. I`ve used it to haul 4' x 8' wood panels, hauled queen size Mattress. It`s a great all around vehicle. I`m keeping mine as long as I can, going almost 20 years strong.
Do you still have it? I love thse cars. My mom use to have a dodge caravan and it's almost exactly like this but just with a door less. Many less luxuries in it ofcourse, but the space was golden! Also drove so great I rlly like everyhing about it
Well, so far you have a 1st gen Durango, a 2nd Gen Dakota, a 2nd Gen Ram, a 1st Gen Concorde, and a 3rd Gen minivan, now all you need to complete your Chrysler Cab Forward Tour Collection is a 1st Gen Viper, a 1st gen Sebring Convertible, and a 1st Gen Stratus!
I noticed it. I have a '99 Limited (not AWD) but have an extended roof top with TV, cabinets, lights, etc., and I get around 13-14 in town but I get 23-27 on the highway. I use mine to tow a small trailer hauling an ATV and still get 21-24. This is a really nice, extremely comfortable van with a lot of room. If you aren't taxiing around a lot of passengers, it's extra nice if you remove the middle seats.
had a '99 grand caravan, had the 3.3 flex engine, you can run e85 in it, also had 2x 12s and a 300w amp and did a 139 on the termlab, easy to get loud in these vans
i liked these vans back in the day. i remember i used to have a scale model of this when i was a kid. it was made by maisto if i remember correctly and i remember being really fascinated by the design. this seems to be a pretty loaded trim; those options were pretty sweet to have back in 1999, and you can tell this one was taken care of well by the previous owner(s).
I am 18 and my first car is one of these its a 2000 model and its gold instead of white and its been passed down from my dad to me lt has 290,960 miles and still runs like a top
I'm not a big minivan person but man that is one well taken care of town and country aside from one of the foglights being out and a little bit of dirt on the outside but overall not bad shape
They were pretty expensive back then! If I'm not mistaken about mid 30 grand for the top of the line Limited AWD. Still decent money now lol. Equivalent to about 50 grand in 2020. Grandparents wanted to get one in 1997-1998 to haul all the grandkids lol, but settled on a Grand Caravan to save a little. I was about 7-8 yrs old at the time
I remember when my family had a Town and Country LXI back in the '90s. The only differences are that the leather wasn't perforated, and the wheel covers weren't as fancy. It was still a nice van though.
I had a 2000 Chrysler town and country limited all wheel drive had everything this one has identical only thing mine didn't have is the pin striping this one has i miss my van my kids to
I must comment here again! This is probably my favorite van besides the 95 T&C awd is what I’d love to have in one of these since rowing is what I’d love to do. Hopefully some day I can buy one
I like this generation of the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Plymouth Grand Voyager. I also like the predecessors and succeeding generations too.
I noticed as you were putting down the driver's side automatic window that it stalled for just a second and then goes all the way down!! I think the dealership should have this looked at and fixed
my family had a 99 lx model, i remember they let choose between a cd player or leather when we were ordering it, lol o how times have changed. in 2004 we ended up turning it in for a fully loaded pacifica,
I agree I have a '98 LXi AWD 3.8L gets 21mpg with 249k miles on it w/o the brake shift interlock. I have no problems with it I know the government is trying to require the vehicles as child safe as possible. It's a matter of driver responsibility, I know it sounds old school but, when a person has the keys that person is responsible for anything happening in or to the vehicle.
the melody of that song reminds me of George Thorgood's "Move It On Over", the song that was on the radio on this guy's video tour of the 1991 Buick Park Avenue.
Our 1999 Plymouth Voyager is still going strong with about 127,000 miles on it. Went all the way from Alabama to Washington State with no problems. Pretty good car, though not the most enjoyable to drive in my opinion.
I hate the way chrysler and dodge have the column shifter on the 2012 vans I prefer the way they did it like on this van, I guess a few years ago they redesigned the body and interior form the former style they used before. I do like how the newer ones have the bucket seating that can be folded into the sto n go under the floor and power doors.
@Motorfordtoyota My aunt used to have an 86 Aerostar XLT fully loaded with the 2.8 V6. It had Digital clocks and trip computer as well as 2 tone paint. It was very comfortable and it never let them down. An uncle used to have a 1990 XL with almost no options but it had the 3.0 liter engine and had always been reliable. Its replacement (a 2000 Windstar SEL) wasn´t as reliable, the tranny was gone after 110,000 miles Also a friend from college has a 1993 Aerostar LWB XLT 4.0 with 230,000 miles
also if you type in CHRYSLER no brake shift inter lock it has a part 1 and part 2 i suggest you watch it beacuase it has more info then the video that you are talking about
Raymond Pineiro Does it really matter? It's the same gen as the 1999, has the same engine, and same transmission. Hell they even used the same engine and 4 speed auto in the gen after this (2001-2007)
We own the lower end version known as the Chrysler Voyager. Reminds me a lot of that car haha. The Voyager also has a SWB compared to the LWB of the T&C. And the Voyager is twice as plasticky. Nonetheless, the only concern with these vans is the lack of brake-shift interlock and gen 3 seatbelts.
@strumem90 They were also made in St. Louis, Missouri. I think he refers to it as the all time American best van because Chrysler is an American company.
@luisinhoens90 I can 100% agree. My Grandmother has a 92 extended wheel base XLT with the 4.0. Not many major problems since my aunt gave it to her with 200,000 miles. (Now has 240,000). The A/C doesnt work, nor does overdrive. lol. But, I love that van!!
@Duratec86 I wonder if they were still making mini conversion vans for that generation? My childhood friend's mom had a 1993 or 94 Plymouth Grand Voyager Conversion Mark III, that thing was loaded, TV, VHS (at that time was cool), and really cool factory lighting.
0:27 - I noticed that that is not the correct key fob for the year of the vehicle. My mom had a 99 T&C Limited just like this one. Drove it until it had 220,000 miles and still had a strong engine and transmission. Sold it for a Pacifica Limited
@19thebigone95 Those little holes you see incorporated into the seat design. Usually manufacturers do that when the car comes equipped with cooled seats or they just want to make it look sporty.
@mrabhijeet15 The Dodge Caravan and the Plymouth Voyager (later known as the Chrysler Voyager) share the same platform. So the designs are practically identical. It's like a Dodge Stratus vs. a Chrysler Sebring. Same platform, just different trims and branding.
@Lukeschedel Aerostars were good vans, just a little old fashioned even for the 90s. But those and Chevy´s Astro were the only mini vans at their time which could actually tow. They were also based in RWD platforms so they were actually more rugged than competitors. They were also reliable, specially with the 4.0 V6 So I wouldn´t say Aerostars are shit.
We had the same 1999 town and country from 2000 till 2010 and we never had to buy a new transmission, engine, or motor! The only thing we did have to get repairs on is the a/c! An my mom had a bad accident in it and didn't have a scratch! But sadly it was totaled!
I still daily drive mine...same year as this. 235,000 miles other than basic maintenance & still going strong. We have 3 other vehicles but this van is reliable & drives amazing! Don't believe I'll ever sell her...just drive it till the wheels fall off! 🤣
Thing were built to last back then. Not so much now.
Can you believe this car was 12 years old with 164,000 miles?! I mean, all the original badging is still there! The paint is in great shape, no scratches anywhere! The interior is in amazing shape! She’s a beauty!!!
yep! gotta love these old minivans ;)
My mother bought a van just like this except it's a base model or LX model. It's a great van powered by the 3.3L V6 that has 202435 approximate miles. Still running strong.
+Christopher Pennington Yeah, it sounds like you have the LX model. If it has cloth seats, it's LX. I hope your mother takes care of it!
She just got new parts for a tune up.
+Christopher Pennington Great to hear, I hope the van serves her well for a long time
I've seen some vans that have gotten to at most 310,000 miles. And I hope so too. I'd buy a van like my mother's but I don't have much of a purpose for a van so I'll just stick to my little escort for now. It does the trick. Lol.

That's the same type of Town and Country Limited that my mom had when I was younger! This video brings back memories.

Do u perhaps know the difference between the limited and the xl?
Great shape body and interior still looks passably modern in 2018.
Sometimes those poor ol' vans get treated like crap :(
Yeah ,unfortunately they're usually destroyed with kids.
Like that thugged out 2001 town and country he showed back in 2009
It even had a bullet hole in it
I know, it’s great to see one that’s in great shape inside and out!
Great job!

@@martijn439 Yes, I still have it. Drive on weekends but maybe a few times per month.
I think this is the best Chrysler van it's ever made. I have a 2010 Dodge caravan myself and I liked this one better.
we had one of these growing up. 1999-2003 then my parents got something that could tow better but got some good memories in one of these
Well, so far you have a 1st gen Durango, a 2nd Gen Dakota, a 2nd Gen Ram, a 1st Gen Concorde, and a 3rd Gen minivan, now all you need to complete your Chrysler Cab Forward Tour Collection is a 1st Gen Viper, a 1st gen Sebring Convertible, and a 1st Gen Stratus!

Not to be a "thumbs up" guy but thumbs up so Kyle can see this! Do a Ford Aerostar dude!
had a '99 grand caravan, had the 3.3 flex engine, you can run e85 in it, also had 2x 12s and a 300w amp and did a 139 on the termlab, easy to get loud in these vans
Good Kid Maad City is the reason why I got one of these as my first car.
i liked these vans back in the day. i remember i used to have a scale model of this when i was a kid. it was made by maisto if i remember correctly and i remember being really fascinated by the design. this seems to be a pretty loaded trim; those options were pretty sweet to have back in 1999, and you can tell this one was taken care of well by the previous owner(s).
I like minivans. I use to have a 2004 Honda Odyssey, I now have a 2015 Toyota Camry. Love them both.
I simply loved owning this vehicle … they really beat the competition 🎉
that's one of my favorite generation van they Drive really smooth
I am 18 and my first car is one of these its a 2000 model and its gold instead of white and its been passed down from my dad to me lt has 290,960 miles and still runs like a top
I just realized that the shifter is very smooth on ours. I love it.
I'm not a big minivan person but man that is one well taken care of town and country aside from one of the foglights being out and a little bit of dirt on the outside but overall not bad shape
I loved this year of the Town & Country. I remember going in with my parents to buy one but they couldn't make a deal and I was super sad lol....
Great video Kyle and thanks so much for making this video I love these vans!
My very first minivan!! Amazing video bro.
I was about 7-8 yrs old at the time
nice van for trip)
Those are the exact same visor mirrors my Taurus has. Must have been the same supplier. Agreed on the van...best generation of those.
I remember when my family had a Town and Country LXI back in the '90s. The only differences are that the leather wasn't perforated, and the wheel covers weren't as fancy. It was still a nice van though.
I had a 2000 Chrysler town and country limited all wheel drive had everything this one has identical only thing mine didn't have is the pin striping this one has i miss my van my kids to
Nice van! Great vid as always Kyle!
I love the chrysler vans
That thing was LOADED! 0_0
I like this body style of the Chrysler vans.
I must comment here again! This is probably my favorite van besides the 95 T&C awd is what I’d love to have in one of these since rowing is what I’d love to do. Hopefully some day I can buy one
@Leandro Valenzuela funny enough I did end up with a 94 towns and Coutry awd
i think the Town And Country is the all time American best van!
This is my favorite model year
I like this generation of the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Plymouth Grand Voyager. I also like the predecessors and succeeding generations too.
wow my parents had a 1996 town and country and i dont think it was a limited so it had cloth seats but i really like this i was waiting for this
I noticed as you were putting down the driver's side automatic window that it stalled for just a second and then goes all the way down!! I think the dealership should have this looked at and fixed
I have an Astro van AWD and the mini AWD vans are great in the snow.
I like very much the Chrysler minivans, and this is not an exception
No VHS player?😓
No before 2000 no i 2001 have the first dvd
I like a 1999 chrysler town and country all-wheel drive model.^^
my family had a 99 lx model, i remember they let choose between a cd player or leather when we were ordering it, lol o how times have changed. in 2004 we ended up turning it in for a fully loaded pacifica,
Sell me the right rear door handle. Necessarily chrome. My broken. Super car. Serves excellent!
I agree I have a '98 LXi AWD 3.8L gets 21mpg with 249k miles on it w/o the brake shift interlock. These minivans are something you rarely see on the road these days.
just glad my dad had a yukon!
The reason why the transmission's smooth is because there is no brake shift interlock, so you don't feel a lot of gear cranking.
Yeah I'd definitely agree. I like this gen the most.
I did not see an inside in a town and country like that ;( but good video! i wish i was doing a tour vid of that car!
If you think these were made for luxury check out the 2nd generation. I have a 94 and that van is jsut amazing
+harryrez Can you please make a video of it? I couldn't find one of yours and really want to get a close up look at it.
Me 2, This generation of the Grand Voyager, Grand Caravan, Caravan,, & Many other Chrysler Minivans of my time period.
5:28 - "Tush" by ZZ Top! Love it!
the melody of that song reminds me of George Thorgood's "Move It On Over", the song that was on the radio on this guy's video tour of the 1991 Buick Park Avenue.

notice the window was kinda slow at 1:35 lol great van!
Cool Minivan

Also a friend from college has a 1993 Aerostar LWB XLT 4.0 with 230,000 miles
the 1996-2000 Chrysler Town And Country was assembled in
St. Louis, Missouri, USA
Revs pretty good 👍
also if you type in CHRYSLER no brake shift inter lock it has a part 1 and part 2 i suggest you watch it beacuase it has more info then the video that you are talking about
nice minivan but your misleading the public that van is a 2000 check the front bumper only the 2000 has the turn signal in the bumper
Raymond Pineiro Does it really matter? It's the same gen as the 1999, has the same engine, and same transmission. Hell they even used the same engine and 4 speed auto in the gen after this (2001-2007)

thats loooks nice for chrysler van
I like it when some make the point to say wood grain as if its real wood, its only plastic people with a wood design placed on it.
mother of pearl...................
You wish
1999 Chrysler Town & Country Limited, 164,099 miles
My grandparents have a 98 And ive ridden in it and its smooth and bueatiful But its been braking down lately almost 200000 miles
@strumem90
They were also made in St. Louis, Missouri. I think he refers to it as the all time American best van because Chrysler is an American company.
Your van should also have the infinity stereo system
@luisinhoens90 Yeah, but the Eddie Bauer Aerostars are rare. And the AWDs arent the most common either. But I meant long wheel base by extended van!
Chrysler and dodge have the most plush seats ever.
Nice rims!
It would be nice if the NS Chrysler vans have rear amber turn signals like the Voyager. :)
@luisinhoens90 I can 100% agree. My Grandmother has a 92 extended wheel base XLT with the 4.0. Not many major problems since my aunt gave it to her with 200,000 miles. (Now has 240,000). The A/C doesnt work, nor does overdrive. lol. But, I love that van!!
i once had to change a starter in one of these it was a pain in the butt
@Duratec86 I wonder if they were still making mini conversion vans for that generation? My childhood friend's mom had a 1993 or 94 Plymouth Grand Voyager Conversion Mark III, that thing was loaded, TV, VHS (at that time was cool), and really cool factory lighting.
my grandparent's 1998 Plymouth Voyager is pushing 173,000 miles
Until it rolls out of your driveway into your across the streets neighbor's front yard.
Haha this is true
haaa never happened with mines for the past 5yrs i owned it.
Safe to say you don't have kids
I don't get it?
0:27 - I noticed that that is not the correct key fob for the year of the vehicle.
My mom had a 99 T&C Limited just like this one. Drove it until it had 220,000 miles and still had a strong engine and transmission. Sold it for a Pacifica Limited
YOUR MISSING THE SAME FOG LIGHT MY 05 TC LIMITED IS MISSING, TWINZIES
@19thebigone95 Those little holes you see incorporated into the seat design. Usually manufacturers do that when the car comes equipped with cooled seats or they just want to make it look sporty.
@mrabhijeet15 The Dodge Caravan and the Plymouth Voyager (later known as the Chrysler Voyager) share the same platform. So the designs are practically identical. It's like a Dodge Stratus vs. a Chrysler Sebring. Same platform, just different trims and branding.
@Lukeschedel

@digitalrailroader He still needs all those cars from the Plymouth and Eagle brands also.
We had the same 1999 town and country from 2000 till 2010 and we never had to buy a new transmission, engine, or motor! The only thing we did have to get repairs on is the a/c! An my mom had a bad accident in it and didn't have a scratch! But sadly it was totaled!
Interesting and hello!
Always wanted to see one of these
1:02 THATS MY (moms) 2011 MINIVAN STARTUP!
My mom use to own the Plymouth voyager
6:47 Um...who farted?
There is no fart is the seat Lol
My granny had one of those, but it was a lower trim
Lxi or Limited which one was the better trim level?
@Captainskier oh yea thats true, i forgot about the rounded one.
1996-2000 generation is the best
