    one of the shows best cliffhangers ...I remember at the time being in complete shock. Julia was a great character brilliantly played by Abby Dalton.

    • @ericmaine
      @ericmaine 3 года назад +2

      This was actually a real shock - Julia was always a rather 'ancillary' character without much of a back story (we knew she resented her mother, and was still in love with her ex-husband), but another reason I think this worked is that we were only two seasons into the series, and again, Julia didn't really have a lot to do other than ragging on Lance about his slut wife and drinking

    • @ericmaine
      @ericmaine 3 месяца назад +1

      This really was a great reveal. I think because the show was only a couple of years old at this point and Abby Dalton‘s character was really ancillary to the action. We knew very little about her other than she hated being under the thumb of mother and she worked in the winery and had a bit of a drinking problem. I don’t think it would’ve been effective if this had been season six or seven and she was revealed as the killer. Again, I think that because she was sort of in the background most of the time no one suspected her.

    • @jaredjlinden
      @jaredjlinden 26 дней назад

      @@ericmaineIt really was. And you make great points about how effective it was to do this early in the series. I just remember being burned on the Who Shot JR cliffhanger because they didn’t have the guts to make the guilty party be one of the major characters. So to have Falcon Crest do what Dallas was afraid to do was hugely satisfying.

    One of my favorite night time dramas behind Dallas and Knots Landing when they ruled Friday and Thursday nights.. I love all of the episodes that Lana Turner was in as Jacqueline Perrault. Her scenes with Jane Wyman were electric. Lana Turner should have been a regular on the series because Jacqueline Perrault was really the only formidable opponent that made Angela feel threatened. I wish the producers would have explored that storyline more, instead of killing her off. Falcon Crest was a great show BUT they developed a bad habit by always killing off or writing off their Core characters. Towards the send of the series, they really began hacking away and getting rid of the characters that helped make Falcon Crest a top ten ratings winner for over half its run on CBS. By season 8, the show really began to look unrecognizable by getting rid of Melissa Agretti and adding a band of boring and useless characters of the Ortega and extended Agretti families that fans never heard of until the Producers tried forcing us to like. Their storylines were dumb and extremely dull with really no connection with the history of Falcon Crest. By season 9, it was a totally unrecognizable series starting with that awful opening theme and adding even more useless characters and storylines. Their two biggest devastating and mistakes, were Killing off Maggie and introducing that weird “Charlie” character who Emma supposedly married. Then they enraged fans by him stealing Maggie’s diamond ring from her finger as she laid in her casket. So to add insult to injury, they had Charlie, (this one dimensional character) sneaking into Angela’s bedroom, attacking her while she was in bed by trying to smother her to death. By this time, Jane Wyman who made Falcon Crest a success, wanted out because she hated the direction the new producers began taking the show. To be even more honest, the last three episodes of the series were the best because Jane Wyman brought Angela Channing back and took Falcon Crest Back where it belonged. I remembered when Falcon Crest was the greatest Winery in the Tuscany Valley and worth over a hundred million dollars . By season 9, they devalued it to only 14 million dollars.. 🙄 I am glad that we had at least 7 good seasons. Thank you for posting this great scene..

    Probably my favorite cliffhanger of ANY of the nighttime soaps. Sorry, who shot J.R. but you were great. Moldavian Massacre on Dynasty was shocking and over-the-top and great suspense at who would survive. But with Lana Turner, the solving of a murder, Julia pulling a gun and shots fired, followed by the coffin being lowered into the ground... excellent! Also great was Dallas when Cliff jumped into the pool to try to rescue the brunette woman who had drowned, and when he looked up at JR and said "She's dead!!" we would have to wait 3 months to find out who drowned: Sue Ellen, Pam, or Kristin. Maybe it should have been Pam. Victoria Principal chose to never return, for the series finale, the tv movies, the Dallas reboot, shame on her. Maybe Mary Crosby would have been better to the fans.

      I remember wincing and wondering who it would be. I thought it was Vicky's Husband since he was nearest to her. In the Book Version it was different. They had a Founders Day BBQ to celebrate the original inhabitants of The Tuscany Valley most notably Jasper Gioberti. The Sherriff told Family Members to be in The Study. Also Diana Hunter wasn't there. Richard crashed the BBQ with Jacqueline where she admitted to Chase he and Richard were Brothers. Only at The BBQ did Maggie know that Joseph was her Grandson. When Julia pulled out her Gun Chase & Richard dragged her to The Ground, and since Chase fought in Vietnam, I thought he'd be able to get it from her.
