- Port Angeles is a beautiful city located in Clallam County, Washington, on the northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula. Here are some interesting things about Port Angeles:
Olympic National Park: Port Angeles is the gateway to Olympic National Park, which is located just south of the city. The park features stunning natural beauty, including glaciers, forests, and alpine meadows. It's a popular destination for hikers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
Victoria, British Columbia: Port Angeles is the closest American city to Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, Canada. It's just a short ferry ride across the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and many visitors to Port Angeles take the opportunity to visit Victoria.
Historic downtown: Port Angeles has a charming downtown area that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The area is home to a variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants, as well as several historic buildings.
Dungeness Spit: Located just east of Port Angeles, Dungeness Spit is a long, narrow sand spit that extends into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. It's a popular spot for hiking, birdwatching, and beachcombing.
Port Angeles Fine Arts Center: The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is a contemporary art museum that features a variety of exhibitions and educational programs. The center is located on a 5-acre park that includes a sculpture garden and hiking trails.
Lavender farms: The climate in Port Angeles is well-suited to growing lavender, and there are several lavender farms in the area. Many of these farms offer tours, events, and products made from the fragrant herb.
Port Angeles Underground: Like many cities of its era, Port Angeles had a network of underground tunnels that were used for various purposes, including smuggling during Prohibition. Today, visitors can take a tour of the underground tunnels and learn about the city's colorful history.
Maritime heritage: As a coastal city, Port Angeles has a strong maritime heritage. The city is home to the Port Angeles Maritime Museum, which features exhibits and artifacts related to the area's fishing and shipping industries.
I've seen most of the country, but when I got here I fell in love with this place. Been here 30yrs. and would never live any where else.
one of the best climates in the country
Home sweet home. Mountains at the back door The Strait of Juan de Fuca at the front. Love living here.
I also live in PA xd
You hear what you listen for. You find what you look for. And you get what you work for.
Never go through Port Angeles without going into "Swain's General Store." You basically missed one of the main attractions!
Thanks for posting. In my 4th year here. Rest of the world burning up - pushing 70 here today. There are worse places to live.👍
Thank you. I spent a few years up there and still miss it.
And yes, if you're in the right spot, and you don't have to go very far, you can pretty much see the mountains and the water at the same time!
Thank you, your video matched my experience. The pawn shop was good. Great deals on guitars
Great to hear. Thank you for stopping by…
Missed a few of the best stores! You missed the fudge store, Anime Kat (for the geeks), the stained glass store, AND Odyssey Book Store! They’re absolute musts! Thanks for showing off Sister’s And Co. a little though! Run by my sisters!
(An actual Port Angeles resident)
Thank you! We will make a list next time going back there :)
I appreciate your videos. Port Angeles is now on my list of places to visit in July. We are going back to Washington State in July to get an idea of cities we are interested in semi-retiring closer to the ocean (live in Denver).
It's a great idea to visit the Olympic peninsula in summer time, Be sure to visit Hurricane ridge :) the Sequim lavender festival is in july as well, hope you have a great trip!
Hurcane ridge is closed till further notice since the lodge burnt to the ground a few weeks ago.
my 9th grade teacher lived in multiple different countries and multiple different states and his words were that PA was the one place that he lived that he came back to
Hurricane Ridge, the lodge burnt down three or four months ago you can now go up to the top, but only so many visitors per day better check with the Ranger before you try going up there@@backpackaroundtheworld
@@juddphillips I am a volunteer at the Olympic national park. I was able to go up to the ridge but I had to go up with an escort I will call ahead of time. There’s rumors that they might open it up but not for the lodge they have a snow season coming, and they have a ski resort up there all volunteers that take donations.
i used to live there 6yrs ago
Thank you for stopping by, David!
I wonder where the name ‘Black Ball’ came from. Reminds me of ‘Treasure Island.’
A long history if you are interested to read :) cohoferry.com/img/Black-Ball-History.pdf
Great place to live. A lousy place to be homeless unless ya love sleeping in drizzling rain and cold.
Well js thus is another js I have been tobport angeles once in the 80s off a biat great place to retire I think reason I plan on moving to PA soon 40byears later plus end of the usof nay not including Alaska where I came from in the early 80 Sitka to be exact
trust me for all the shit that PA gets it is not the worst place to live in the U.S. here in PA because we are a small town the traffic is usually not bad and the air is pretty fresh because of the fact that we live in the middle of a temperate rain forest
God I hate when I go to PA, downtown near the water is decent but everywhere else is a shithole
Are there any apartments complex out there
We are not living there but after some google search found below. Maybe there are more:

@@backpackaroundtheworld wow thanks a lot .. I was just doing Google search and you came just in time 🤍
Did you see homeless problem there? It’s been pretty well known for homelessness and drugs in the past.
@@JohnLee-db9zt We didn't see many during our walk, that doesn't mean they do not exist. Unfortunately, homelessness in rich countries is not unusual.
@@JohnLee-db9zt i live in port angeles, and no there is some homeless people but it isnt a problem, there is very few gangs and drugs around here, very pretty and i would reccomend
it's a pretty setting. It's a beautiful area. but the city is just another low budget mill town. It suffers from brain drain. higher education is ridiculed. a cultural wasteland. if a lifted diesel pickup and a double wide is "living the dream", this is your kinda place.
