i like the idea of moving before catching the pass but if the defender is "ball watching" and playing off like you are describing he's not closing out to YOU...he's going to jump the lane to deflect or steal the pass so yah what you're saying will never happen in a high level game. maybe YMCA pickup lol

Hard to belive considering you see This all the time in college basketball and sometimes nba

@@hehey8596 no...you don't see a player close out to where the player was... if the player moves they close out to where they are.
what he's describing is basically not standing still and waiting for the ball to get to you...or making your drive as you catch the ball so you can have the D off balance. the way he says it...just NO it doesn't happen but I get it.

Even if ya defender is not respecting ya shot he gotta protect the paint so if u get it and go he has to react to u. One counter move and u either have a shot or a chance to finish or pass it off to a teammate.

@@jamesbycinthe that's true but it doesn't change the fact that what is described in this video will never happen at a high level game. D will either play the passing lane or close out to the player..if the player starts running before the pass is caught the D isn't going to keep going to the spot where he WAS...the D is going to run with the person catching the pass.
like I said...this is great to get a step or to a spot faster but what he described will never happen.

@@poofykins i get what u mean but thats y I think u should attack opposite of where the defender is coming from and not towards him the way its described here...therefore putting him in a chase scenario as if u blew by him. Of course the pass can't have too much air time that allows the passing lane to be played...also a pass from the middle the way it shows here would only allow this if ya defender is doubling down there or sagging at the nail
