Are there any prepper channels, That talk about being on the road for work and how to go about that? Thanks jr for the videos.
I have a paper notebook with all kinds of stuff like how much bleach to use in a gallon of water.....just in case I have no inet, phone.
Thanks for the video J R ! Speaking of bumper stickers the one on my truck says “ my neighbor has better stuff 👉🏻 ! He wasn’t amused ! 😂
Thanks JR I too am guilty of having gear all over the place and not organized plus hiding stuff and forgetting where I put it lol, stay safe and alert.
When it comes to food and nutrition, a couple bottles of multivitamins might not be amiss. Not all that expensive and they don't take up much space.
Thank-you! The information that you constantly provide is much appreciated! I have been deleting some channels that did not meet my expectations. Yours is not one of them! Keep up the excellent work!
Thank you Rob!
Thank you JR. I started as a competition shooter, reloader, hunter and backpacker. I got involved in scouting and filled the role of a Boy Scout Scoutmaster for a long time. I think that I learned more about scouting than the scouts. In the last three years I saw a lot of problems that could change our world and got more serious about prepping.
Exactly. I’ve already identified where I need to improve on regarding my prepping things such as good radio communications for the group, having a large battery (with Solar capability) to power any items, among things to improve. The point is to take an honest assessment of where your “need improvements” are and continue your prepping. 👍🏾🇺🇸
Same. Thinking about the Ham radio license. Started studying for it but I’m just not that passionate about it. It’s arduous. Will start on solar generators this year. 😊
Great info! I'm always rechecking my stock piles of supplies. My latest "thing" is making sure I have enough pet food. My animals aren't picky, but I need to be sure I have what I need to keep them healthy. I add extras to my foods, so I've started adding extras for them, as well. Thank for another informative and motivational video! 👍
Thanks for watching Millie!
Ha, I put pet food in as a suggestion and then the first comment I saw was yours 😊
Maybe get a bottle or 2 of those vitamin pet tablets.
Greetings from Tennessee. While I understand what you are saying about not focusing on bug out bags and bugging out unless it's a last option, I cannot help but notice you don't talk about a "get home" bag. The average male walks 2.2 miles per hour. If you're 100 miles away from home (close if in a car) you are 3 to 5 days from home. I have two G.H.B.'s; one for intrastate and one for interstate and throw whichever is appropriate in the truck. Nothing fancy in them, just basic shelter, first aid, fishing kit, and fire starters. We take distances for granted because of driving instead of walking places.
My opinion regarding prepping is that no single person is an island and in bad scenarios people join efforts. I think the "T" person will be best in this: be an all rounder to skills and prepps and and excel at something. Be the best gardener in your group, the medic, the security guy, the electrician, the plumber. Based on my experience in the collapsing '90s in Eastern Europe, skills will be bartered, work, and times.
8:50 And drill for happenings. People in wildfire areas have had bags and equipment, then in the evacuation, failed to grab items when walking passed them. You don't think well in a real emergency.
“The last time that they started a fire, was in their microwave, when they forgot to take the tin-foil off their leftovers.” 😂👌😂👌
DIY, I have been a prepper, and before that, a so called"Survivalist", for over 40 years now. As an ex Cold War combat soldier, I have been preparing for many scenarios, not just one or two. As you say, admittedly, it is almost impossible to prepate for every possible scenario, but, as the saying goee, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
Prepare, just can't catch them all.
I knew someone who died of Reyes syndrome. Frightening. Never give aspirin to anyone under 14 especially when they have a fever. Also thank you for mentioning Celiac disease. Those of us who have it had to relearn everything about diet.
Great video as always.
Never give Aspirin to anyone under 27 can cause Reyes. Is my understanding
I recently reorganized my home canned and other preps. I had way too much of some things and not nearly enough of others. I can at least find what I need/have now! Thank you for sharing!
👍... Pet Food... 😊
Also keeping a record of your preps on a cloud or someone else’s server can also give access to others who might want to know what you have.
Hard copy - wire or 3-ring binder (at least as a back up). Electricity/ internet can go down.
I like the brick wall
I definitely need to work on the organization aspect! I did think about an elderly family member who has Parkinson's though, so I found a used, folding walker and wheelchair at Goodwill to store in my garage. That way if we needed to bug out and he didn't have those items, I have a backup for him to use. I might also grab a used pair of crutches in case anyone ever needs them.
Hey JR, regarding comms I'm in a similar boat and thought I'd share what I've settled on, at least for now. I got my GMRS license (cheap and no test, and entire family can be on the same license). With a couple handhelds and good mobile I should be able to reach a few miles (maybe more). My rationale is that the need to transmit long distance will likely be small and so the barrier to entry with HAM may not be as needed as I think. I also have a good all-band shortwave radio to at least receive longer distances. Maybe that's flawed, but that's what makes sense for right now. Someday I might tackle the HAM radio thing.
I’ve watched a guy on RUclips who is all about GMSR. Maybe I need to watch more of his stuff. Can’t get into the ham radio. Studied for the test for about two weeks and lost interest.
@@beatriceannbaker3350 Same.
In addition to GMRS, you might consider CB radio. Contrary to common belief, it is not defunct. Entry into ham radio is fairly easy. The entry-level tech license is easy to pass and gives one access to communications in the VHF & UHF spectrum. There are several good study guides available and most urban areas have clubs whose members are willing to help. I use all three radio services.
Uh ho. I have a hello kitty follow me in case of a zombie apocalypse sticker on my car! But it has been on there for about 12 years lol
I recommend 75 Hard then Live Hard for the maintaining physical condition. I follow OMAD so I eat how our ancestors ate and at the same frequency.
Thank you JR for sharing these important tips with us. Stay safe. Blessings to you all ❤
This video actually made me feel better about my plans for the year. Last year was focused on energy, food, and water storage. I wanted to start obtaining the means and skills to hunt. I already know how to fish, but adding larger game to my ability will help me be less dependent on major grocery stores. This hinges on whether or not we decide to have another child this year. If that happens then I'll be able to work on obtaining equipment, but I'll have to shift a more significant focus to my garden than spending time at ranges and stomping around in the forests.
As always J.R. good solid, common sense info. It is so easy to become complacent and overlook basic, but essential preps. Thanks!
It's fine to have tech preps but they should be protected against other catastrophes. Take it from a long time prepper, preparedness changes with age. Bugging out may no longer be an option. Organization, it's very important to have itemized lists of what you have and where it is. Many different go bags for different situations.
Well said. The one thing I didn't bank on was becoming homeless. I knew eventually, but not for a few years. Now, I have nowhere for my preps after all the years of struggle and hard work to obtain them. It's tragic.
Really like the reminders. Always well thought out.
Buying a book on knots
Look for old Boy Scout books. There is so much information in them. Knots, shelters, first aid, fire starting, outdoor cooking, etc...
A really useful knot is the one commonly called a trucker's knot. It's a knot system that allows you to tie down a load and tighten the rope effectively before the final knot.
I still have my old boy scout book ha
I learned knots from my dad. He served in the navy, or he may have learned them vecause he was born in the 1920s. I never did learn to splice ropes. He could, my husband could...that's one skill I regret not learning.
Excellent advice! This is food for thought. Thank you
Hey Jr, thanks for another great video.
Great information. Thank you
Excellent video. Thank you for posting Sir 👍😊
Good video, thank you.
Another home run! Thanks JR
thanks for always having quality content.
Thank you.
I have Celiac Disease, so I know it's hard to find Gluten-free Freeze dried food. I have found Backpackers Pantry to be the best for my needs.
Thanks for sharing!
Great "common sense" video. Thank you for your help....I need the reminders.
I have a bread maker. My family LOVES my homemade bread but i don't like it. 😞😭
4cup flour
1 tbsp. Salt
1 tbsp. Sugar
1 tablespoon yeast
2 cups of hot water
Combine all dry ingredients
Mix in water till combined
Knead a few times
Let rise an hour and separate to 8 rolls or 1 loaf and let rise another hour..
Bake about 400 till done..
Easiest bread to make and if you like you can ad 2 tbsp. Of oil, butter, crysco, etc.....
Give it a try and your family will love it..
** Also you can make pizza dough out of it or bread sticks or cinnamon bread..
✝️🇺🇸👍🏻 prepping 24/7
Prep for zombies. If you are prepared for zombies, you are prepared for almost anything else. :-)
Finally, I got my wife leaning towards my not being crazy for prepping. She works in a college, and they have a student who has made threats. She asked how much a bulletproof vest and helmet would cost. How could she protect herself from an active shooter? So, I showed her the concealed plate carrier and plates. As well as the ballistic helmet. Nice and light, compared to the full level 4 battle kit. No one is taking my beans.
I had not thought of an active shooter at work, but she did. Prep for potentials if and where you can. Still working on getting her armed. To get her to the range, I must overcome that fear first. One mistake to avoid? Toys. I am now the proud owner of a 37mm smoke/flare launcher. It's not a grenade launcher that would require a tax stamp.
This guy provides really good info.
Thank you!
The main problem with my local "bug out" locations is, they're the back woods hills have eyes kinds if woods and you... You would only be feeding them.
No joke, the local sheriff's department and state police refuse to go out there because they WILL skin them alive and set their car on fire if they go down the wrong unmarked road.
There are no radio signals out there, the phones dont work and even satellite is spotty.
WTH? Where do you live?
