Great review Steven. I also love the original Interlude, it was my very first niche fragrance. Something about it just clicked seriously with me. This is an amazing flanker, much more wearable. I feel that the transition to the mid notes is better accomplished and that buttery iris note is to die for.

The Navus smells good, and is just like Elyisum to me👍🏻
I haven't smelled the Absolute one yet, but that Intimus smells AMAZING. I was Smelling it as soon as I opened the box. I believe I'll eventually get a full bottle of that one.

I’m a woman who loves mostly gourmands and rarely likes masculine leaning fragrances. I was testing a bunch of vanilla and rose frags at a niche fragrance shop and the shop owner told me about this new one she loved and it was Black Iris. Not something I would normally go for, but I fell in love and now I want a bottle. Ive never smelled the original, but it sounds like this version is softer/creamier then the original from what I’ve read, so I don’t need to!
Incredible review Steven! Very thorough, balanced and insightful. My current favourite from Amouage is Jubilation 25, I found Interlude man to be just too powerful to wear comfortably- and although I love deep and dark fragrances I tend to enjoy smoother and/or slightly sweeter scents. I am really interested to sample Interlude Black Iris as, from your description, I might find it much more to my taste...

Ah, so cool from Amouage to be so hospitable. It is surely in the spirit of Sultan Qaboos and his large. I hope the new sultan carries on the path of his predecessor. The first time I came across a boswellia tree in the middle of desert in Oman, it mesmerized me and I was only ten years old.

I've never tried the original but I just received a sample of black iris and I love it! Very creamy, leathery with a little oud. Right up my alley, the creamy light floralness of black iris reminds me of reflection man but much stronger.
Great analysis, Steven. As always, your reviews are very thorough. I am Niche Parfume Junkie so I may get Interlude Man and Interlude Man Black Irish as I to the point I collect fragrances now.

Great Video, I’m actually from Oman but wasn’t into fragrances till I was much older (18). The only Amouage I own is Myths which I really don’t like and have never worn. I’m looking at purchasing Amouage fragrances in the near future, but it’s a bit expensive for a student like me. Keep up the vids

Great video Steven as always, I'm wondering if you have smelled Amouage "Interlude 53" the similarity and Interlude DNA are there, however, it has its own identity and the performance, I believe, is better than Black Iris and the original Interlude. I would love to know what are your thoughts on this!

In music you can clean up the tone of your instrument by decreasing the mid-range frequency. Do you feel that's essentially what they've done here? And added a little iris in the process?

Interesting, I bought Black Iris Man aswell and had an extra box like you, however it contained a travel candle, shower gel sample and two perfume samples, Interlude Man + Interlude Woman (instead of miniature bottle Silver). I thought it makes sense to include samples of Interlude products, since this is an Interlude flanker.
Their customer service is excellent because of the extra gift and refunding of shipping service, but it makes sense because personally I had to wait longer than a week for the order to finally start processing.

Hey Steven, so if we purchase from the Amouage website, will we always get the Oman formulations? Or is it only for this frag and the first release only?
Hey! Well, to be technical, the perfumer is Pierre Negrin, and he works for the company Firmenich. He joined the New York Firmenich team back in 2008. If he's still with them, then technically, the fragrance is made in New York. Amouage works with perfumers from all around the world (Lukas Sieuzac - Spain, Bertrand Duchaufour - France, Alberto Morillas - Switzerland). The company is based out of Oman, but their fragrances are made from all around the world. The "made in" label rarely means "fragrance composed in." I hope this helps!

I had decided to pick the beast(Interlude Black Iris) Instead, I opted for the beast slayer(Epic). I'm sure each one has a different preference, but a guy with no nose would agree that Epic is better than Interlude Black Iris.

Hello! Thank you so much for the comment. I hope you're doing well. The performance of the fragrance is well above average. It's a very strong fragrance, and I get more than 12 hours of longevity from it on my skin. I hope this helps!
I love this fragrance, it has a leather note that reminds me of Tuscan leather a bit, even though they are both very different, they share that one similar note, so If you love leather notes like Tuscan leather from Tom Ford, you should love this one. this goes in a woody, smokey vanilla direction, where the tuscan leather is rasberry fruity so they are quite different but both have leathery smells. which i like a lot.
Which do you prefer as I have Tuscan leather but not this YET 😅

I wouldn't. I still find this one to be a bit on the strong side with the smoky appeal the same way the original is smoky. I hope this helps.

It smells nothing like those fragrances, and this one is much darker and more mysterious.

I got to try this I love the original probably got to be one of my favorite fragerance made so far but I had bad experiences with iris with dior homme I hate that fragerance with a passion dont like the lipstick smell lol hope this not work that
Black Iris Man does not smell like lipstick. I own a bottle AND I hate lipstick smelling perfumes, lol. The iris is powdery in a very airy fresh way, not lipsticky.

All fragrances have an expiration date, but as long as they're stored properly, they can last a very long time.
Love your reviews. Not sure the ghastly muzak in the background does anythng to improve the videos. Its actually off putting. sounds like an elevator in the 1970s
