Its terrifying knowing you need a shelter, and not being able to afford one.
Allocate the money and just build free shelters. People might stay there.
Yes 😭
@@MrPhotodoc what money? yours? ok, pay them
Yup! I don't have one ,and im screwed because i live in a trailer in tulsa..if a tornado hits! This trailer park has come close
@@MrPhotodoc It is not that simple sadly. The likelihood of ever being hit by a tornado , even in the most tornado prone location on earth is still about the same as winning the lottery. Unfortunately, it is inevitable that 'someone' is going to get hit. The cost of building a shelter, or reinforced 'safe-room' is far beyond the means of most and given the odds of ever experiencing it are so incredibly small it simply doesn't add up. It is easy to look on the flip side when there are fatalities and say ' IF' but the practicalities of it sadly mean that things will not change. Best plan of action is to stay alert and keep the weather radio with you at all times when storms are forecast. The science has improved hugely and warning times have increased in the past 30 years or so. That said, the science is NOT infallible
EF-4? Omg
Experts cannot continue to tell people lying down in a ditch is safe. There’s no way.
Remember, they used to teach kids to hide under their desk in the event of a nuclear attack.
If you have NO OTHER OPTION.
This is only the case IF there's no other option.
But at the same time they don't want you to go under a bridge. Go figure!
@@jeffkardosjr.3825 You do realize why that is, right? Hiding under and overpass is literally the worst decision while on the road.
Horrible situation I feel so bad for everyone in its path
When I was a kid a tornado went over our farm, but it was certainly not an E-4! I really hate tornadoes and feel so badly for the people of Oklahoma! I pray for everyone there.
They need to build better storm shelters for areas that are so prone to storms like this sending prayers to all who have been impacted 🙏🙌💔
Did u not watch the whole video?
Praying for my native Okies. ❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏
Build them shelters instead.
@MrPhotodoc Some shelters can cost 3 to 8 thousand here. So, it's not so simple to tell everyone "build a shelter for us."
😢😢 Sending prayers for everyone lord please let the Soul that passed away be resting peacefully in your Kingdom. We just had a crazy tornado hit our small town in Nebraska on April 26 over 100 houses were destroyed 😢
why dont they just build four or five community storm shelters that could hold 25 people in a emergency have like a couple of those in a area for people to go to during a disaster, they have community pools... why not also save lives in the community?
They had one in Sulphur, OK. It was condemned. Never trust the government to get the job done right.
They have a few of these shelters attached to a church in downtown Sayre, OK. You are right - the state needs to do this in all cities for its residents.
I live in Bartlesville, I posted on a local FB group ‘why doesn’t Bartlesville have any public shelters ?’ Most comments either agreed with me, or gave advice about where to shelter in my house ( I am from the UK), but the last comment was from a man who said I was being so selfish to expect the authorities to keep me safe. If I was ‘that worried’ I should ‘start a GoFundMe for myself’. Jerk. The tornado hit the next day at the end of my street.
Look, I don't know what to say. I live not far from there. I think I might even know who you are (not like there's a bunch of UK expats around here). Yes, a lot of places in the US lack public shelters. Yes, this is because of America's culture - you ARE expected to have a level of self reliance and self-preparedness. We generally don't like depending on the government - at any level - to "take care" of us, because we know both that they'll provide only the absolute bare minimum required or asked of them, and that we don't like being reliant on a government that's had a nasty history (in this area, the Tulsa Race Riots, general Jim Crow policies throughout the South, etc.). If you own property, it's on you to obtain, or construct, your own shelter. If you rent, bring it up with the landlord or property manager - and perhaps think about moving someplace that has a robust Tornado/Severe Weather plan of some kind.
While I agree public disaster shelters would be a nice thing to have, they HAD one in Sulphur and it was CONDEMNED. That's what relying on the government kinda gets you - if you're lucky, the item is barely competent at its intended purpose and not "acceptably dangerous" to the user. Or, in some cases, demands you surrender your Rights at the door (some of the shelters from the New Orleans hurricanes come to mind).
There was an exception for atomic bomb shelters during the Cold War, since they are a different sort of danger - you aren't required to shelter-in-place for 48+ hours after a tornado, after all.
@@calanon534 thank you for your very kind, very informative reply. You made a lot of sense. Would love to know if you actually know me !
@@kerrieragsdale628 I'm just trying to be honest about things, my dude. No hate. Cultures are different, even if the languages are similar.
I will freely say, that one jerkhole with the GoFundMe suggestion was WAY outta line.
If anything, we've met in passing - I know for a fact I don't know you by name, but rather by happenstance. If I meet you again, I'll bring this conversation up.
I've lived on the south side of Oklahoma City for six decades, and have heard the same question asked about Oklahoma City.
If you're talking about public tornado shelters, its impossible because of time and population; the roads would be gridlocked even more than they already can be creating a potential disaster.
When and where a tornado drops, and what it does after are unpredictable. The tornado that dropped just SW of and then hit Barnsdall, and came into Bartlesville was probably moving at around 40-50 MPH.
The residents of Bartlesville would have had no time to flee to public shelters. Time and population is the reason. Also, it could have been much worse for Bartlesville if that line of thunderstorms, just to the west of the tornado, didn't overtake it to disrupt it and snuff it out
Time, population, and the unpredictable areas which are many, and still remain a mystery, of a tornado which we still don't yet fully understand are valid reasons for no public tornado shelters
Living in Hurricane alley Florida panhandle….. I fear tornadoes much more. 🙏🏼God bless and comfort these poor people that went thru that hell…..
I was in an EF2 tornado almost 11 years ago to the day. It sounded like a freight train was running through our house. I cannot imagine what EF5 tornadoes sound like and the devastating effect of them.
Prayers 🙏🙏🙏
Shelters work better.
Lol, prayers lol
My prayers goes out to everyone hoping they get the help that they need 🙏
Send money to tRump. He will fix it lol
Oh, now The Authorities can "lock us all down" for one missing person?
Seems so counterproductive if someone’s trapped about to die.
Yeah, that sounds weird
Just build more shelters.
It may also be due to looters
They show up when the storms pass, along with first responders
They do that to keep looters out too
Always remember that the camera man never gets hurt no matter how close you can get
The warning system in Oklahoma is one of a kind for good reason. It’s amazing more people don’t die in that destruction.
Went here for a swim meet in January.. thought it it was crazy how it was directly in tornado alley. I ended up staying in the same hotel that got hit, crazy
Thoughts and prayers to all of the people.
Haha
@@dooluv5769Shut up you ridiculous ungrateful fool, as someone who lives in Oklahoma I want you to come spend 1-2 weeks here during tornado season and see how you like it. I don't even own a storm shelter and I sit in my house through each and every tornado praying it goes away.
I live in Oklahoma, and since my father is county law enforcement, I got to go into barnsdall and see everything. It's really bad there and everything is totally gone. When I'm typing this comment they have also found the guy who is missing, they fiund him 2 miles away.
Oh my god I hope and pray that my best friend living in Oklahoma it's safe.. until now I can't know if he is ok and also his family..
That’s horrific!

May Our Heavenly Father and Jesus help 🙏all to endure through the hurricane season 🙏 Peace to All Stay Safe 🙏❤
Woah
At least it weakened before going all the way through Bartlesville, if it was at the same strength it was in Barnsdall in such a populated area, this would be a different story
I saw that torndao when it happend on radar
😢😢😢
They know there's nothing anyone can do about it. It will continue and is such a crime against humanity!
Praise my ancestors for picking the landscape that's never had a tornado 😇
God please bless those people.
My prayers too

Praying for everyone to be safe.🙏🙏🙏
Oh my gosh tornadoes getting stronger just so sad to watch after it happened just gone in instant no one could stop this monster so sad 😢

That dude came real close to going from doorway spectator to sucked up twister debris.

Typical spring in the plains...
Is that EF4 rating the official tornado rating for that tornado?
perliminary, but will soon be official
@@fusion5262 ok I thought maybe they’d upgrade to rating to an EF5
@@rosewetzel8284 there still is a chance tbh. for now its still perliminary.
@@fusion5262 tbh?
@@rosewetzel8284 it means to be honest. I’m just saying there’s still a chance for an upgrade
I got into my storm shelter there was a rattle snake in there
I hope he was paying you rent ?
@@kerrieragsdale628 no he wasnt i dont think so
I've never seen anything do this much damage in such a short amount of time. 😮😮😮😮 Well, except a bomb.
There are plenty more tornadoes coming to the United States and plenty of floods and England getting plenty of bad weather RPS 111
😢😢😢😢😢
The worst part is some of them are going to end up homeless or they'll move to NJ
Sadly they will be call criminals if the government makes homelessness a crime.
Oh, hon. Bless your heart for thinking. My family’s from Barnsdall. I can promise you they will rebuild and stay very far from New Jersey!
Why live in these tornado prone areas? If so live in underground structures.
That’s where they have always lived and where their families have always lived. They are not remote workers or part of a gig economy and can’t just pick up and move wherever they feel like. It’s funny how everyone else who has no involvement in these communities thinks they have all the answers.
@salvyv thank you
Yes born rural & it's cheaper to live not high income so end up staying family friends it's just home we don't want to move nor have means nor support to move
Tornado alley goes from central Texas to Chicago(West to the Dakotas.& East to the Ohio Basin) Your question is somewhat ludicrous.
😯😭
It’s safe to say that our government won’t be there to help yet they will be there for Ukraine and giving billions to other countries but po po on their own citizens who voted for them to represent us!! Never depend on your government and vote the best you can
No, actually it would be ignorant to say that the government won't be there to help the people affected by this tornado. This is just one destroyed community among several in Oklahoma alone which has suffered from tornado damage with loss of life. The government always provides emergency aid to communities in need.
So stop making political accusations about something you know absolutely nothing about!!
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 yeah I kinda jumped ugly there for a minute hopefully I’m wrong and there will be some help I know there’s been many people helping each other out there ❤️

Correction: Not all American Indians were so called nomads. Many tribes stayed in one area farming for much of the year like the pueblos in the southwest.
And the hunter gathering tribes would move with the seasons or where food would be more plentiful. Lakota, Comanche, Kiowa.

God is good and all those who survived this should be calling upon the Lord our God, in thanksgiving as these weather events we know comes from the enemy, Satan, for he is the prince of the air, and has dominion over it, but he can only do what God allows him to do. We are seeing more and more tornadoes and more destruction, and yet so few bend the knee to our Lord God to give him the glory for their survival.
