It's not necessary for Sikhi to wear turban. It may appear offensive. Sikhi actually means to learn . This monk has learnt what the holy guru Nanak ji wanted to communicate. If he follows his karma according to that it means by deeds and knowledge he is a sikh . That is why everyone can be a sikh and vice versa can be a sanatani. A sikh is also a sanatani.
As a Hindu from the south, I will admit I did not grow up with any Sikh friends or acquaintances. As I grew up, I learned more about Sikhism and its people. I also learned about the insecurities from both sides. One thing I want to tell my Sikh brothers and sisters is: every Hindu I ever met has the greatest respect, admiration, gratitude and brotherhood for Sikhs and Sikhism. Hindus feel Sikhs are just so similar to them, because the teachings of Gurus are not exclusionary. Guru Nanak taught inclusivity (“sarbat da bhala”) and love. Guru Nanak did not say, only Sikhs will go to paradise, and the rest will go to hell. Nor did he ask his followers to convert everyone into a Sikh. These are the same foundational principles that underlie Hinduism. Now I know some of my Sikh brothers and sisters feel upset when Hindus treat them just like one of them. My only request is: just remember it is coming from a place of love, respect and belonging. It is not to deny your faith or identity. Nanak is not a Guru just for Sikhs, but also Hindus and for everyone that does not exclude others based on whether they follow their faith or not, like some other religions do. Namaste. It’s been decades now that whenever I visit Gurudwara, I just feel emotional from the deepest bottom of my heart, so much that I sit crying, I see them and I literally cry. I feel so much compassionate in my heart that I really feel sorry for everyone and everything around me and I seek his forgiveness for everyone..

It's not necessary for Sikhi to wear turban. It may appear offensive. Sikhi actually means to learn . This monk has learnt what the holy guru Nanak ji wanted to communicate. If he follows his karma according to that it means by deeds and knowledge he is a sikh . That is why everyone can be a sikh and vice versa can be a sanatani. A sikh is also a sanatani.

As a Hindu from the south, I will admit I did not grow up with any Sikh friends or acquaintances. As I grew up, I learned more about Sikhism and its people. I also learned about the insecurities from both sides.
One thing I want to tell my Sikh brothers and sisters is: every Hindu I ever met has the greatest respect, admiration, gratitude and brotherhood for Sikhs and Sikhism. Hindus feel Sikhs are just so similar to them, because the teachings of Gurus are not exclusionary. Guru Nanak taught inclusivity (“sarbat da bhala”) and love. Guru Nanak did not say, only Sikhs will go to paradise, and the rest will go to hell. Nor did he ask his followers to convert everyone into a Sikh. These are the same foundational principles that underlie Hinduism.
Now I know some of my Sikh brothers and sisters feel upset when Hindus treat them just like one of them. My only request is: just remember it is coming from a place of love, respect and belonging. It is not to deny your faith or identity.
Nanak is not a Guru just for Sikhs, but also Hindus and for everyone that does not exclude others based on whether they follow their faith or not, like some other religions do.

Hinduism is my religion, Sikhism is my faith. And believe me, this has always been way of life for all of those who trace their roots in the geographical area constituting Pre-partition Punjab upto Peshawar in north-west to Sindh in south and Western UP in the east. Since generations both Sri Ram ji & Sri Guru Gobind singh ji have prevailed to be our ideals & inspirations. However, lately the organised handlers of religions from religious leaders, politicians and their hoards of piggybacks, under the disguise of identities, radical beliefs & constitutions have had antagonised both religion & faith to a level that it has merely taken form of a tag or label for identification.
