I always go by the motto "Everyone on the road is out to kill me".
Exactly, the key is to get them before they get you 🤙
Nice bike. I wouldn’t want to do an 8 hr shift on it, tho.
I’ve passed my IAM bike test and also passed my IAM in my car as well and achieved a FIRST, also done Bike Safe as well and i can say it is well worth the effort, you can always learn more, and now i’m training to be a Driving instructor so i’ve come full circle now, these days you need to be a defensive rider and driver so it is a good idea to learn as much as you can to keep yourself safe and others.
I’ve noticed that a lot of foreign drivers just pull out regardless if you’re on the bike or in the car.
I think generally the standard of driving has reduced over the last few years.
Have you visited France on you bike,it may change your view.
Here, the police got treated with Multistrada V4S last year.
No worries...we´ll just raise the income taxes to 92% and make sure to put the speed cameras on straight roads with 8 miles between intersections🙄
After many years I started to not enjoy riding as I felt That I was winging it and wasn't enjoying those 'lucky' moments , so did advanced training and luckily had a police instructor and now I have a structure to follow and feel in control again and found it much more enjoyable and not riding my luck any more. Thanks Roddy , definitely recommend training .
Sound advice that many could do with listening to….. you can still enjoy all the excitement and thrills that motorcycling brings whilst also riding safely…. any initiatives like this which encourages riders to chat and listen are to be applauded 👍
Really good advice, and I think advance teaing should potentially be mandatory before ever being allowed a cbt test.
I turned up in early December passed my theory and passed cbt 2 weeks later with 4 hours training, over Xmas I passed mod 1 with the same 4 hours training and now passed my mod 2 with just a 2 hour ride of the test routes.
Now I'm not saying my instructor was bad his great, but knowledge of routes and known obstruction hasn't made me a better rider, just I rider that can pass a test.
At 6'3", i find the RR very uncomfortable. My XR on the other hand. So tip for constable: persuade the brass to buy him the M1000XR next.
I ride 30 k kms a year in Belgium, lane filtering for between 5000 and 8000 kms a year around Brussels and Antwerp. I save easily 2 to 3 hours some days.
One main thing: if they are serious about teaching safety, they should wear airbagvests themselves (like the Malta police)
What a bike, can tell Toby wanted to have a blast on it 😂, fair play boys brilliant video, what a good platform to get some safety messages across.Nice to know the police are not just ticket machines and actually do care 👍👍
100% agree with it all I have been riding for many years and it makes me so sad to here when a biker has died. I have always fancied going out on a days ride with the police and taking some kind of advanced driving lesson. Even though I have been riding a long time you are never too old to learn new skills or techniques to keep you safe. 👍👍
In general the standard of driving in the UK is shocking.
Try Spain 😫
In my area let’s just say “new to the country “ people haven’t even got a license let alone any insurance or road sense 🤨
Red lights now often ignored.
Try living in Portugal ! Makes the UK seem ultra safe !
The UK roads are now more combative, people drive past the point of being defensive, to the point of outright dangerous at times. Often road rage is triggered just by following the highway code - some people take a flash of the lights, or beep of the horn, as a personal attack; even if they were the ones pulling out causing you to have to stand on the brakes!
It used to be an easy spot on the road - young lads, reps, and old people were given a wide berth, but there days even young women have joined the fold of crappy aggressive drivers.
Of course the UK roads aren't akin to those abroad - I'm sure a town or city of spicy Latin folks will have an equally spicy mindset, we're talking UK here, a nation that is reknown for being polite etc 😂
The reasons above is why I tend to ride twisty dirty B roads now
In Australia the police use trail bikes to filter between traffic. They have camaras fitted. They check for using mobile phone use etc..
“If I park this up outside a shop” I think he means Greggs! 😂😂
Very informative, thank you.
The quote was by the great Casey Stoner about Rossi crashing into him on race day, it goes "Your ambition outweighed your talent" dear me imagine someone saying this the one of the GOAT 👌😭
Next bike for Cornish Stig !! Great video
Great job guys. I realy enjoy watching your videos and education.
Great bike, just needs a tail tidy and a smaller number plate.
As a 66 year old biker, I have seen initiatives like this before... Hayabusas etc have been used before.. I totally agree with advanced training. But should not car drivers be treated the same..
That’s a great video 👌
That was really good👍🏻👍🏻
Maybe AIM and other advanced training should be offered Free Of Charge to 16 - 24 year olds? Would this not be more of an incentive for them?
They do offer incentives although the IaM and rospa is for advanced training after you have passed your test
Nice bike
Surely an S1000RR would have been a much better use of that donated money? 99% the machine for a lot less money and the spare cash could have been used for an off roader too or a load of overtime for the same project
🔥
Alarming statics, imagine the numbers for the whole country...
When I was in the Irish police the top brass got very nasty if they saw you with your hands in your pockets and/or not wearing your cap.
Do you think if I ask him nicely he will let me have a go Toby/ Mark?
You could always ask 🤣
safety partnership?
Do they report dangerous pot holes.?
Yes they do but it’s not the police that fix them
Pity we did not get to see it in motion with lights and siren on.
Any bike can engage the public. I don’t see the sense in spending on an “M” bike when the average trained police rider can outride most miscreants on sports bikes using an RTP except those with a death wish. That could have almost funded two RS1250s. Agree with the sentiments, just not the logic.
It's a fallacy that they're better riders. They're just more confident because they're not scared of getting caught.
@@waynegoldpig2220 I don't think so! It sound ridiculous thing to say such a thing about such highly trained and skilled individuals! They're trained to a very high standard and having ridden with a few police riders, they're riding is smooth, skillful and above all, safe. Some of them are ex-police and ride with the same blood bike service I'm with. If you do a taster for an advanced riding course, you'd be amazed by some of the improvements to your riding which is possible because, with the best will in the world, a majority of riders are blind to some of the hazards or how to plan for mitigating them. Some is bike control, a lot is observation and continuous planning ahead. I rode a bike 30 years before thinking about training, and don't regret for an instant taking my adv course. When younger, I thought I was indestructible, survived a few spills and like many of us, if honest, was probably a bit reckless. Many of the younger lads who joined up with our local adv riding club ride sports bikes and not one of them has said anything other than training helped them a...lot.
Good vid. But you say we won’t to give everyone the chance to have a bit of higher training like bikesafe as you said 16 to 24 year old are the most vulnerable thing 47% I think you but up but yet CBT bikers are not allowed on the course it’s bloody stupid also why are young boys & girls that do CBTs not made to do a theory test before doing the CBT. They can do there CBT get out on the road with very very little knowledge if any of the Highway Code. Sorry for the rant Cracking vid cheers
Agreed, although there are other initiatives on the way and they have to start somewhere. Stay tuned for more vids about this ;)
@@RiderCamTV yes they do have to start somewhere but surely that would be the theory test before being able to go on the road these people ain’t supervised like learning to drive they’re on there own no duel controls no bubble.
And I believe they are trying to make it easier to pass the bike test now. I personally don’t think your taught enough to be honest it’s very basic and only about 35 minutes out on the road should be at least an hour.
If you want to help young people and encourage them to do more training as young riders, you could have paid for 176 such riders to do the IAM training (£38k/£215) for the cost of this bike. Might be money better spent to subsidise training? Personally, I'm generally very sceptical about these sorts of frivolous initiatives to increase "engagement".
Although the IAM and rospa training is for people that have already passed your test 🤷♂️ it’s good that they are trying something different rather than the same that hasn’t worked
@@RiderCamTV Ok, but I don't ever recall this kind of initiative having any significant impact either, other than a blingy bike for them to play with. They have had Blackbirds and Hayabusas in various forces over the years, as far as I know its had zero effect on accidents. Public Sector budgets are stretched everywhere and yet, they find £38k to buy this bike. I'm just not a fan of this kind of thing. Happy to be proven wrong of course.
If you’re filtering through traffic a lot, you have to ask yourself why?🤣🤣
Yep
Crap traffic
Roadworks
Crap drivers in front.
Oh, did you want it to be my fault. .🙄👍
Can't wait for Cornish tax payers to put a new engine in this 31 grand bike.
Much cheaper than a fatal rta.
Why do the police need such bikes?
Long way from the Norton the police had when I was a kid
Times have changed
Ridiculous, what a waste of tax payers money. What's wrong with a 5 year old RT.😂
Much cheaper than a fatal
I'm all for saving life's. But that bike, extremely over the top. All down to priority. Addressing pot holes which has been a major problem for the last 5 years and getting worse. 70 Motorcycle riders annually are even killed or badly hurt and going up. I ride a.k1600 but will not ride in the dark. Beautiful bike but in my opinion not justified.
Well done guys...A good informative easy to listen to well explained video...Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!
