On the 6th of September 2013 the KZN Museum was invited to attend and document the Ladysmith storytelling festival 2013, the program focused on the importance of storytelling as an integral part our South African heritage. Footage was taken outside the village of Gudlintaba and by night the storytelling was done around a bon fire by the Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the village as well as by Dr. Gcina Mhlophe. Saturday the 7th entailed a local teachers empowerment workshop held by Dr. Gcina Mhlope and Mrs Mathabo Kunene to encourage a sense of self and cultural pride in learners.
