The Anchor Hitch (Anchor Bend) is a great knot, but the Roundturn and Two Half Hitches (RT2HH) is much better while tying/untying under load. For example, you can tie the RT2HH while the load is present, like a 100 lbs weight suspended from a tree limb, and untying the knot holding that suspended weight is easy. Also, a RT2HH allows tension to be added to the line by completing the round turn, and it never jams. I actually currently cannot think of another knot that has all these capabilities in one knot.
In contrast, the Anchor Hitch is impossible to tie or untie under a heavy load, does not allow tension to be added, and always has slack before applying the load. However, it is secure and gets more secure with more load.
How about tucking it through the coil twice ?
Wouldn't that be more secure ?
I thought an achor bend was the same as a round turn and two half hitches but with the first half hitchbpassing through the round turn.

Yet another knot video that tells us the name of the knot and how to tie it, but gives absolutely zero information on when, where, and why we should choose this knot.

Knots have an enormous almost infinite variety of applications. If you don’t know where to apply this knot. Then the use of rope techniques and knots is probably something you should avoid in life for your safety as well as others.

@@tgeliot I sound ridiculous? You just quoted something no one even said lol. Are you implying the creator of this video should show you every conceivable object on Earth that a rope can be attached too? The very name of the knot explains what it’s top use is. ANCHORS, or any stationary object that will except a rope obviously. Rings, carabiners, etc. This is why, if you don’t have enough common sense to know that much already. Do not go tying knots you or anyone else will have their life depending on.
Anchor bend is a misnomer. It is called Anchor hitch.
I’ve never had a properly dressed double anchor loosen or break on me while climbing. check your shit and do what feels safest, I’m just sayin.

Figure eight follow through. Nothing else should be used when climbing. This is good for equipment hosting only. Do not trust this knot at all.
