Episode 6 Part 1 features Fort Sill in Lawton Oklahoma. Fort Sill was established in 1869. We stayed at Fort Sill Medicine Creek RV Park for one week. We encountered heavy rain almost every day.
In this Episode we feature the Medicine Creek RV Park, Medicine Bluffs, Apache Indian POW cemetery, U.S. Artillery Museum, Elmer Thomas Park.

The bugle call was taps, at sundown. Lived with that for decades on the Navy Base.
Everything has changed since the wife and I lived there in 1985. Living on-post was nice and safe.
Lawton has much more to offer now.
Was assigned as a training officer to the ACL Bn, teaching students to operate and fire the M101A1 and M109, LTC Harry S Watts was Bn Co. Some MP agreed to teach the UCMJ.
Was surprised to see the Crusader Howitzer. Supported its development at United Defense, Fridley, MN. Qualification Testing at Yuma Proving Grounds was completed, with the XM777 Light Towed Howitzer. The Crusader could fire 20 rounds per minute, all day long. The German PZH2000 could fire 3 to 5 rounds per minute, until the barrel got hot, then one round per minute, sustained fire, like the M109A6 Paladin It was common to close roads leading to the impact area during field training to avoid injuries to those who ignored warning signs and barriers.
20 rounds per minute is pretty impressive.
