    What the cleans like on the modern???? You do not seem to test that on the modern, I'm tempted to buy one for recording, I like cleans, rock and metal, which one would you say is the most versatile to hit those needs, also can the be played without a cab and not damage them? If h&k did a deal to buy both I would but cannot spend £600 on the two lol so one it is

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  3 года назад +1

      The whole video was recorded without a cab. You use the built in Redbox to record direct. I mentioned in the video that channel 1 is the same on both amps so the clean you hear in the video applies to both. For the money it’s a great little recording tool. If you want metal, you might want to consider the Modern. You could still back off on channel 2 or drive channel 1 to achieve more standard rock tones. Hope you pick it up! Oh. And in the opening jam, when you see an amp, that’s what I’m using for that part so you will see me playing clean on the modern.

    Man, it sounds like these would be perfect for live solo gigs where you don’t want to bring a ton of gear. I’m wondering how this would work with a looper though. For example, I’d like to loop a clean tone and be able to play a little overdriven lead over it using channel B.

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  3 года назад

      They really are convenient. If you placed the looper AFTER the amp I don’t see why it wouldn’t work well with a looper.

    These have now been out on the market for 3+ years. I find plenty to choose from new on reverb but I see no used units. Seems people like them.

      I covered them thew day they came out and you are right....inexpensive and very useful. Maybe not worth a lot on the aftermarket because they are so affordable. Better to have around I guess..

    Love Hughes and Kettner stuff. I've had the triamp mk2 and now have the mk3. This seems like a great unit to have as a backup or just for fun at the price point. Only odd thing is that 50 watts at 4 ohms. Would have liked to see 50 watts at 8 ohms. That will be the only thing holding me back from picking one of these up. But that's just me.

    • @LonelyRocker

      I’m a tube amp guy myself but this thing is a great utility amp. Super convenient. At the price point it’s easily a writing tool or secondary station for me. Fun little box. For entry level players I think it will prove to be great value. Wish I had one of these when I was coming up!

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  3 года назад +4

      It’s not targeted to Black Spirit owners. It builds on the Nano by giving you more features in a small floor amp. Plus the Red Box is a huge addition. I think it’s a great starter amp for new players and a great utility tool to have on hand if you already have other amps.
