Just watched documentary. It was terrific as was this interview. Didn't expect downward spiral his life took and hope he turns things around. Very interesting and talented guy. Having lived in Toronto half my life, I get why he felt he had to leave when he did HAHA!
That part about somebody else being against the whole thing but then getting the Oscars is very frustrating, but also very recognizable, I've seen similar things throughout my career. The people who count will know who did what though.
This hasn't really changed much till the present day. Look at the Oscars for avatar 2. The whole movie was basically CGI yet only one person was on the stage for few seconds to receive the award.
