*"They're all heavy hitters...he doesn't belong."*
Royce knew something was off about dude lmao
One of the deleted scenes makes that very clear. I can see why it was deleted though since it would have given away the reveal too soon.
It was at this point in the movie that I remembered one detail about the hunters, they’re in it for the sport and to prove themselves, they don’t choose their targets randomly, so if he’s there, it’s for a very good reason.
He was there to throw a wrench into the others game. These Predators were nasty in terms of sport. They just wanted blood.
@@maxfrankow1238 no, he’s there because he’s a cold blooded killer, nothing more.

Yeah same
The Predator was one of The worst sequels ever!
Agree
@@coachb2766 And people say predator 2 and predators is one of the worst sequels.
Too bad that doesn't say/mean much tbh
From Adrian Brody's wardrobe, equipment, haircut he screams mercenary for combat "off the books," even before he says so. This was a really well done movie. It's a shame they didn't circle back to Robert Rodriguez to do another after this. His was the best.
No dought
Either that or a CIA POO.
Agree absolutely.

@@trymetal95 That was my read at first glance, yeah. Kit's not normal issue, even for upper tier units, and the haircut was off.
I'm still disappointed they never did a follow up/sequal to this. Still one of my favorite Predator movies!
Yet
There was a comic sequel iirc, but it doesn't do much aside from making Royce and the girl as the new "rulers" of the game planet while both of them still want to go back home.
I agree 💯
@@MrBas-cu7dt Yeah, the Yautja give them upgraded gear and weapons…
Yeah! In the comics, the girl makes it back to earth 🌎, in one of the Predators, space ships, and I think she debriefs , Keys...🤔. She did make it back to earth 🌎.

@@andusz5518 There is a cut scene where he confronts the doctor about it, and the doctor tells him that he accidentally killed someone during a drug fueled hallucination. This kind of put him at ease since the doctor now fit in with the rest of the group of killers.
I think they should have kept that scene in, since it tied up a plothole in a logical way without spoiling the doctors true nature.

This movie. If it was released in 2018. It could get 9/10 pretty easily. Brody's performance is underrated.
Big facts Brody killed it.
If it was released in 2018 it would have been canceled. I draw attention to what americas most wanted called the predator as he shanked it :-D
I just wana say in real life Adrian Brody is like the least intimidating guy on the planet but he played the rough and tough anti hero so good. Cudos to him.
Dude is an Oscar winner- he knows acting.
Nah, never underestimate speed and agility. This guy looks like he could slot your throat before u could blink
In real life, a Marine would likely look like that.
Mercenaries aren't supposed to "look" intimidating or even be intimidating, that's bodyguards. Mercs are supposed to be good at their jobs. And he looks like he could jog for hours with full combat equipment and still fight. And he doesn't need three protein shakes a day to live. He can handle days without any food.
Charles Upham felt that way.

One of the few movies where you see their ammo depleted throughout the movie and it shows on their body. You can see it on Royce, where his spare rounds continue to be removed from his chest.
Good observation.
I think this would make a good tv show series rather than a movie.
Marcus Fossa like the walking dead
Alien planet, a bunch of people fighting for survival in the unknown, great weapons, Predators, am all in for a series with popcorn in my Microwave and Pepsi.....👍👍
Man In The Arena I’d give it a watch and see if it was any good for sure. It would be a great storyline and you are correct that done properly would be a fantastic show.
Hell no..these are still the best movies
Agreed
They're all professional killers, 3 of them are even spec ops agents, and he's the only one who noticed all the odd things about that place
You know. It’s where your minds at. Never thought about it. You ain’t wrong. Ha ha
Yeah, I mean, I could easily counter argue that and say that they did notice it, just never thought to share it with the group due to distrust or fear of being mocked. I imagine everyone suspected some weird shit was going on but lets be honest... the place looks similar to Earth terrain wise, so when you are confronted with these odd anomalies, your first thought isn't immediately "Space aliens!". It isn't until they see the other planets above them does it likely sink in that they not on Earth.
@@Slemoster distrust but still follow him around like good puppies, also, that women is a scout sniper, they don't get lost or get tired, and they don't take orders from strangers
Well, to be fair, only 3 of them are TRAINED in the special force/military. The rest are, just like you said, killers; also 1 doctor. Besides, the lady did say the jungle/forest looks strange when they first met; and the Russian guy obviously has some language barrier issue.
They noticed weird stuff from the beggining of the movie. They noticed stuff like wrong topigraphy of the jungle. To strange star paterns. Since everything was so out of normal wich didn't allow tjem to have a clearly idea where they were, they decided to stay together and walk in one direction until they could find some town or any human civilization. They never though they were literaly on an alien planet.
I always found the female to be very convincing. I didn’t feel like it was pushed to hard. She did a good job I think of being tough but not ridiculous. Her character worked
Back before strong female characters where a political agenda
It’s also because of how they handled her character. She’s a tough person, but she’s not cold or closed off. She’s even semi-nurturing, one could think she actually has a life back on Earth that she cares about.
Her specialty is also wholly valid; she’s not some alpha super-soldier who can take down the men with zero problem. She’s a sniper, she’s not going to be confronting henchmen directly and, ideally, her targets wouldn’t have ever even known she was there to begin with. And there’s even a strong historical precedent for female sharpshooters being highly skilled and racking up many kills. The movie makes it believable that Isabelle belongs amongst these killers.
With many modern day girlboss protagonists, they’re all built to be like Royce. Stoic, closed off, grumbling, cynical, and overall unlikeable. But unlike Royce, their films don’t challenge these qualities but instead reward and reinforce them. With Royce, he steadily grows into his leadership role of the team and opens up to Isabelle. That doesn’t happen in modern girlboss movies. In a bit of irony, to “challenge” toxic masculinity in cinema writers started making the female characters just as toxically masculine.
That’s tareasa bro 😂😂

I think his character is a badass in this movie
The hype for this movie in 2010 was crazy! The first solo Predator movie since 1990 and boy it delivered!
I’ve watched this clip enough times that it could qualify as a full feature film.
They dropped the ball hard when they decided not to follow up on this storyline.
You know what a good follow up story would be, Jason Bourne, and his kind get shipped to the Game Preserve...
It’s so cool that part of this scene was filmed in McKinney Falls Park in Austin Texas. I walk the same rocky water trails with my dog all the time. I always think of this movie when I’m there, it’s such a beautiful place.
Dude Adrien Brody was probably my favorite character in this movie along with Alice Braga. That AA-12 was memorable in every fucking scene; made me fall in love with the gun and I had known about it for years. Bringing up the 3rd place is Topher Grace because you have the creepy undercurrent of “wait, why is HE here” which gets mentioned here.
first I thought this movie was just not good but also not bad, when The Predator 2018 came out, Predators stands as masterpiece in front of it
That unfortunately is the fate of alot of these franchises... Terminator has a similar story
I really enjoyed this movie. I love the way critics review like they expected Hamlet. Its a Predator movie and it was just that.
Adrian is such a good actor he makes you forget he's a skinny-scrawny unimposing dude.
Gamergod IIRC he put on a few pounds of muscle for the role.

Adrian Brody: O.o
If the sun doesn't move. That means the planet is tidally locked to its' sun. So. How far did they all walk to reach the dark side?
Good question, Kong Thao. It all boils down to lazy writing/not thinking things through, but if had to come up with an answer on the spot to cover their mistake I'd just say the planet rotates more slowly than the Earth...
Or it revolves just enough to emulate that, Venus comes to mind.
@Kong that's a good point, that's why these group of soldiers were so confussed about how everything was different.
@VMIFerrari I don't see how it is bad writing.
To answer your question, they said they have been walking for many many hours but the day hasn't changed so I say they have walked problably a lot.

Darwinian.
there are people who hate this?
@@ryanreviews8566 it got sorta bad reviews when it first came out, I was arguing with kids at school who were saying AVP Requiem was better than this.
Well from what I’ve heard, people hated the film because the humans in this were actually able to fight back and kill each of the Predators
I expect the serial killer to be helpful for the team. The director have a rare moment to film a great battle between the killer and predator in which he pursued satisfaction in killing a creature that is far more intelligent and sophisticated than humans. But they just reduce him to be somewhat a cheap dude who betrayed the team.

The leaf was a kind of compass that acted differently on a different planet.
Yup. Either there is no magnetic north or strategically placed polar charges to disrupt it.

This does leave me wanting some closure at the end, but it does not take from the movie as a whole. Predator (the first one) and Predators are my favourite out of the series.
@@tonk3878 A lot of people hated alien vs predator requiem as well, I mean I get it from a lore standpoint but from a writing, action, and actor standpoint the movie worked for me so.

Deadly and smart. He flushed out those two Predators when Mombasa was killed in the camp. He had to sacrifice one in the group to see what was hunting them. “Sometimes you gotta shoot a hostage.”

Same with Isabella, hers in the front slinged , all she has to do is sling it back on her back. You carry at the ready if you know there’s a threat or in area you’re entering that isn’t entirely secured.
And to answer your keyboard commando comment: I did this for a living in the military. Navy CS-5 (combat systems) 2004-09... so assuming I haven’t seen anything...let that make you wonder.

The characters, they’ve all been established that they’re not gonna kill each other...because they’re all in the same boat...what benefit would be to kill off one another?
At this point of the movie they don’t know something is hunting them...all they know is that they got thrown out of a “plane” and show up confused. There’s no immediate threat.
That shotgun he’s carrying...it’s 17 pounds and change, with a drum of ammo...17 pounds doesn’t sound like a lot...carry it for 10 clicks, that’s 6 miles give or take...(however far they’ve been walking) you’re arms will get tired. YES I’m going to sling it around my back or rest it to the front (hanging)...so I don’t ware out my arms out when I have to shoot...your muscles no matter how lite something is...will get tired...(ever hold your arms straight out for two minutes?) so if you have a 20 lbs weight...I want you to walk a mile (if you have 17 lbs that’s even better) at the ready with the weight...tell how your arms do after that.
