Thank You For Watching
the dogs barking while listening to a big star 🥺
PLSSS IM CRYING
I was so gagged like…
the dog knew 🥲
Omggg
I was just about to say that... ;-;
People weren’t ready for this masterpiece 😭
I feel like it just different taste, but also this project takes more time to fully enjoy, for some people.
@ agree some peolle didn’t take their time with it! It’s sooo beautiful and perfect for the summer
I love it, but its nothing like the sound that she built her career on - brooding bass, darker vocals, synths, and messy young relationships. Of course this would have mixed reception
Listened to this like 10 times. Its mediocre. The concept was there the execution was bad
They still aren't ready bro
there is NOTHING like listening to this while laying in the sun, especially at the beach!!!!
This album is underrated and it's heavily criticized... for nothing. It's not Lorde's fault that fans create their own expectations of what THEY wanted to her. They wanted something like Melodrama, but Lorde wasn't with that mindset anymore, she grew, she changed. I LOVED this album, it helped me a lot during those hard time. The melodies are beautiful. Secrets from a Girl made me sobbbb, the Robyn part was so meaningful to me. Hold No Grudge is my favorite.
I will never stop stanning Solar Power. I hope they like it 😅

what i think is people didn’t expect growth from lorde. they wanted her to stay the same and do the same but in reality all of her albums have been about the specific time period in her life and the music reflected that.
I think this album seriously perfected how to make someone FEEL the ambience. You can feel the sun on your skin, you can smell the salt in the air from the sea breeze, you can just feel the warmth of summer from this album.
Pure Heroine was about an angst teenager not knowing where she belonged in this world, seeing things around her take shape, and come into a very rough time in her years. That time is horrible for any teenager.
Melodrama is truly just what it says, melodramatic. Its an over-exaggerated concept album about a singular night from the start to the end of a party with every single trial and tribulation you could think of. It perfectly encapsulates young adulthood. Everything is happening so fast it feels like it’s just one night, you see the world, you find people to love and break your heart, you enjoy hedonistic desires, you fuck up sometimes, and you don’t know where you belong but you’re having a good time finding it, but what the fuck are perfect places anyways?
Solar Power is that young adult finally stepping back and looking at the light after that entire night of melodramatic happenings and taking a very deep breath and a sigh of relief knowing things may or may not get better, but time will keep going on and we will find out how to movie through life however we can. The sun will show us the path, event though we may overthink things during daily tasks, or dwell on things that the past generations left us to clean up, but in the end we ourselves are going to have to just move through it all and find out what makes us, us.
this is sooooo spot on thank you for your thoughts! very well written out.
i knew you guys wouldn’t let me down
It's really funny that vocals on this album remind you of the Phoebe Bridgers album... because she's actually there! Both Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo do backing vocals all over the album through several tracks, unfortunately the mix of the album doesn't let you hear them much but they are definitely there!
At the same time Solar Power was recorded, Jack was also working with Clairo on her album Sling, it's a gorgeous album and you guys should definitely check it out! Lorde does backing vocals on Blouse over on that album.
yes sling!!!!! maybe my fav album of the decade so far it's so beautiful
this is my favorite album EVER, lorde was SO ahead of her time with it. i love that it totally smashed everyone's expectations after melodrama. she needed this to heal and she made this for herself, her friends and her family. she's truly an amazing songwriter! the organic, yet complex, production of this album makes it so unique. thank you for reacting to it! great video
As someone from New Zealand, this album captures the feeling of NZ summer sooo well. Nothing like listening to solar power in the car on the way to the beach
this album changed my whole perspective on life, lorde and i are only a year apart and I’ve related to all her albums with all the timeframes
Secrets from a girl (who’s seen it all) quite literally saved my life. I had just recently lost my father, and as a teen, isolated and still in midst of the pandemic, everything felt pointless and overwhelming. The song gave me hope even just for the duration of the song. That was more than enough to give me just a little more strength to just continue on for another day. Lovely reaction as always, thanks for what you guys do!
the deluxe tracks are also really good!! hold no grudge is one of my favourite lorde songs
i didn’t really vibe with this album when it first came out then listened a year later and fell in love !! i think some albums just need to find you at the right time 💛
just listened for the first time this past wednesday and i’m so mad I waited so long
the way the dogs barked right during big star 🥹
Omg I cannot believe you guys liked it. Finally someone who actually appreciates it and not just cry how it isnt melodrama 2
Listen to this album in general but oceanic feelings at the beach it’s a beautiful and peaceful experience .Good reaction guy ,check out the 2 other songs from de deluxe are great too
I love how you guys were able to understand everything she wanted us to feel and think about this album. It is so underrated!
But I have faith that with time it will become the classic it is supposed to be.
I’ve had the most plays on this album, and I’ve said it’s my favorite of hers’ since it came out. Yet, anytime I say that, I get talked to like I’m crazy. Your thoughts have vindicated me lmaooo
i loooooove this album so so so so much. lorde is one of my favorite artist of all time and people weren't ready for this masterpiece.
when this album first came out i remember not really feeling it and i was honestly a little disappointed because pure heroine and melodrama were both albums i really resonated with. but listening to it again in 2024, having grown a little, i felt the same sense of understanding that i did with the other albums. i really love that about her music, its like it finds you exactly when you need to hear it
Lorde actually did a live performance of Domino on a rooftop together with Jack Antonoff
Solar Power is incredible! it shows how much she's grown & the things she's experienced. glad i saw her vision immediately ✨
Great reaction! It's funny you could hear your dogs in the background during Big Star, because that song is about her dog.
Both Phoebe and Clairo do backing vocals throughout this album. Here are some clips where you can hear them better...

I’ve seen someone saying when this album came out that it’s not Lorde’s fault she grow out of Melodrama and you didn’t lol. The album is a masterpiece
You should react to their EP "The Love Club". There are 6 songs on it, but what's interesting is that it's her first work, even before Pure Heroine.
She released that album on SoundCloud when she was still a child but the lyrics and production are very good.
Greetings from Guadalajara, Mexico.
Love your reactions.
This one came out during a really weird, nostalgic, part of my life and it was the best soundtrack anyone could have during those moments. I was in my solar power era fr.
I’m so glad you enjoyed this album! It got such a mixed reception when it came out, even from people who loved her first two albums because the change in direction musically and even content-wise from her was so stark. But as a girl just a couple years younger than her, I really feel like each of her albums defines a specific period of my life . Pure Heroine - high school teen social dynamics, Melodrama - college, partying and first heartbreak, and Solar Power - entering adulthood during the pandemic. Got a chance to see her live too in LA in 2022 and it was really magical!
this is my favorite lorde album im so glad you guys understand bc people hate on it so bad
I've always loved this album.
Haven’t watched yet but just wanna say this is a mf masterpiece and it took me 2 years to realize, once you become aware of what growing up really is it hits you like a train. Now I’m watching
this is my favorite album ever. im so happy you liked it i listen to it everyday
Live performances next , she’s great live
i was just getting out of covid when the song solar power came out, listening to it in my backyard after a week of being locked down in my room was life changing
perfect album - Dad
MY FAVORITE ALBUM YEEEWSSSSSS
Thank you for loving Solar Power🌞
Solar power is so underrated
This message from genius might help you understand what Fallen Fruit is about:
Here, Lorde addresses the climate crisis, criticizing previous generations with an almost whimsical sense of wonder over unsettling acoustic folk, for not working to solve a problem that may now be too late to fix.
By using several “Book of Genesis” imagery. Lorde establishes a connection between humanity’s “sin”, often depicted by western cultures as the forbidden fruit, or an apple, and the human-caused destruction of the environment, as if disregarding environmental concerns will be punished by God as direct disobedience of His command.
This reaction has inspired me to relisten through this album and learn to like it more. When it first came out I think that it not sounding like Melodrama turned me off and I just hadn't gotten around to giving it another try. Thanks guys!
this album was great, people were just no ready for it. especially coming off of melodrama. but i loved it since first day.

You are people with TASTE!
"I feel like I want to take a vacation with this album so far"
Yes yes yes, 100%. Imo this album is brilliant and only wasn't well received because fans were anticipating hard-hitting Melodrama 2.0. But this album reflects her home of New Zealand and escapism, I think it captures that vibe beautifully. 🎉
Aww the day before was her birthday as well ❤
love all of her albums! especially this one and melodrama!
I'm so glad you liked it guys❤️
please react to Sia - 1000 FORMS OF FEAR.
I loved your reaction! I knew you both would enjoy it🤍 I would love to see your reaction to: Mitski, Harry Styles, Phoebe Bridgers (Stranger in the Alps), and Ethel Cain (you might want to read the lore behind her albums beforehand)
big star is about her dog that passed away :( and the way your dog barking at the background my god :(
I Believe Phoebe Bridgers did background vocals for the title track!
As a broke South African teen with no money to subscribe to any Patreon or participate in any voting polls, y'all need to please get them to do Ultraviolence please.

MAGGIE ROGERS
People just wanted Melodrama 2.0, that’s why they didn’t appreciate back then Solar Power. So sad.
Please. I tried Solar Power before Melodrama and Melodrama is still a league better to my ears... The songwriting on Solar Power is excellent but the production doesn't do it justice.
Please do MAGDALENE by FKA twigs next 😭😭😭😭🙏
One of my all time favorite albums, can be a tough listen though so just trying to prepare to cry a bunch on camera haha
Micheal, i really wish you would react to Submarine by The Marìas! We have very similar music tastes, thinking you'd also enjoy that album.
