Kublai razing cities is creating quite the fire break between his cities and what will soon be yours. Unintentional master stroke to counter the Court of Love.
25:52 The sea dog crew launching a surprise raid on the Chinese rocket site and stealing only a radio is quite funny for some reason. Raider with musket standing in a room filled with cutting edge tech: “Hey guys! This lil’ machine here can talk! Let’s swipe it!”
"lord kublai we're trying to go to space but these bizarre english larpers in full pirate outfits keep coming into the office and breaking our computers, send help"
Kublai knows that Ursa's coming with loyalty pressure so he's burning all of Yongle's high-population coastal cities. Smart plays from the AI. (Yes, I know it's because Kublai can't hold the cities with loyalty. But we can try to make the AI seem smarter than they actually are).
With all these cities getting raised from the north and your court of love gobbling up other cities, I wish we had that Civ V end-of-game animation of empires rising and falling
One of the best ways to win with Eleanor is to build up either the money governor or the faith one so that you can instantly buy districts. Then, take over city, install governor and 5 turns later you have a theatre square plus amphitheatre plus art musuem and can keep the ball rolling. To me this is better than chopping.
It's not a bad strat, but the main issue is it eats into a finite resource - for Eleanor, I need the gold to buy great works and theatre square buildings - plus my faith is pretty pants!!
@@UrsaRyanVoidsinger Eleanor with reliquaries is basically a Chthonic cult with an innocuous front woman. It's fun to play just to see how crazy things can get, and honestly your short games where you're not challenged are still entertaining to watch. Not sure if you've run that before. It works well thematically with apocalypse mode but I wouldn't use any of the other game modes, just double down on the core mechanic on a small map since the endgame is just spamming cultists and moving your relics/great works around. Alternate Cartography has a post-post apocalypse map that works well with this too. It has a ton of craters and contaminated regions and lots of tribal huts to simulate the survivors of the previous apocalypse, very atmospheric as you're gradually turning the world pink with festivals and ritualistic sacrifices.
I'm really surprised you didn't join that emergency against Korea. They had a lot of coastline for raiding, and getting joint visibility with some of the Northern civs would have revealed most of the rest of the map. I'm curious what motivated you to decline because that would have been an easy upvote from me.
Kubli's razing of Aachen is a much better power play than simply nuking it. If he had nuked it, it would have left the city along with radiation in the way, it would have been an eye-sore, & also still be an obstacle for his troops. However, because Kubli razed Aachen it freed up the land ahead of his troops, he didn't have to waste any science or production on a nuke, & he can decide to either settle a new city or leave it as a no-man's land between himself & Yongle. Sucks that several million citizens were put to the sword & all the districts are gone, but it might lead to some archeology sites in the future.
In today's episode Preston Garvey takes an east Asian vacation from Boston, leaving behind the Sole Survivor to handle the Minutemen. We learned that dogs rule the high seas, and you really shouldn't underestimate British culture, after all, they gave us the Doctor. Will Ursa manage to conquer the world with a thing called love? Will Kublai get to Alpha Centauri? These questions and more might be answered in the next episode. Same Ursa time, same Ursa channel.
the lowkey biggest rarity of this episode: ursa actually buying diplo favor to use it for something, instead of just selling it because the congress sucks (civ7 please??)! diplomacy, yay!
Is there a reason you're not using Entertainment and Water Park projects to stack additional pressure? I mean, I know infrastructure comes first but 1 big city pumping out a bit more pressure often works wonders.
It's location dependent Long term if there is no TS in a city, it's always better to build that first. More GP people points, 5 slots for the city to use. Otherwise it's worth looking at the loyalty pressure on surrounding cities. Often, the defensive / internal pressure of the civ's own loyalty is WAY above the +20 capped maximum, so running the project would literally do nothing. Vietnam and Yongle were often like this! Sometimes it would change and I'd catch it, but most often it's just that the project wouldn't help That does change as we go later into the game though so you'll see me do it more This might be one of the things I don't really go into much until later into the series in fairness!
@@UrsaRyan Makes sense to me. I've most often made use of it only at two different points- that first effort to 'crack' an empire, and later on taking advantage of existing infrastructure as I progress into a foe's lands. After I posted I thought a bit more and I 100% agree with you that the Great Work pressure out to 9 tiles most often ends up being far more valuable than the steadily decreasing bonus of the Project. Thanks for the answer, I'm greatly enjoying this series so far. Eleanor is probably my favorite civ under most circumstances.
It's actually crazy that mongolia tend to destroy all china cities due to insane loyalty pressure in region. This war actually backfiers you. I'd suggest short cultural allience with mongolia for 30 turns so they would resettle territory. Thou, in 30 turns they can get to exo expedition. Maybe you should just peace them out and resettle yourself
It would be so nice if Wonders didn't poof, they just had a decay timer based on the era they were made, and you could resettle the area and claim the Wonders and restore them to glory.

I like to imagine they couldn't make head or tails of any of the big equipment, this was just one guy stealing a Walkman off a prisoner.
If my AI has to use planes to create a vast no man’s land between it and you Ursa, so be it 😂
Amazing mod dude, any idea if it works on Xbox?
My tea has been brewed, my bong is packed. My body is ready
Imagine Ursa stoned…. Legalize it in the UK immediately.
Getting the giant crabs high before we boil them is the humane thing to do.
It is so satisfying to see Yongle get beaten up by Kublai from the North and Court of Love from the South, after the ludicrous game he had last time

What a series this has been, im hyped to see how it comes to an end! Love the England games + the little Roleplay aspects that comes with it
Haha, I'm getting more into the roleplay aspects of the series as we go!

AI mounting the most effective defense against court of love I've seen yet - and people say the AI doesn't know what it's doing.

Bristol and brighton end up not being coastal is funny since most of your cities are.
