- Here's some weird things with the new TAG2 enemies and the Crucible. The most interesting thing to me is the Glory Kill highlight thing, but there's plenty of weird stuff, it's hard to decide which is most interesting.

Also here's something to know as well.
You can swing the crucible then turn your camera infront of a demon,
Sometimes.
The animation won't play and the enemy will instantly die but a charge is still used???

A mod where you hold down the Crucible key instead of tapping to switch between active melee weapons.

@@thecommentguy9380 Not sure how that would work considering only the Crucible Sword gets held while the Crucible Hammer is used immediately on pressing the key.
Imagine Davoth makes a comeback in the fight. You beat his ass, but he teleports you both to Earth to absorb the essence of the Icon, but that allows you to retrieve the crucible without worry and you end the fight with a sword duel.
that would be badass, imagine fighting on top of the icons back.
@@inksicle2533 I pictured fighting in a section of destroyed city that gives a sweeping view of his mutilated corpes pierced by the tips of sky scrapers in the background, like the Titans Realm in DOOM 2016.
Now that, I wish was included in the Dark Lord boss fight for real. Would make it even more awesome if that happened.
I guess that would have been the case if it wasn't just a DLC

The dark lord only losing a third of his health unless he’s vulnerable makes a lot of sense, I figured that he took much less damage unless he was attacking since I was testing weapons that bypassed his shield and he barely took any damage, you can destroyer blade the very top of him any time during the fight but it barely scratches him. Interesting
The BFG lasers also do damage

It's funny that they say we can't have the crucible in ancient gods part two when the slayer could easily go back to his vault and just dip the hilt into the ardgent energy and revitalize the blade again

Yup I really didn't like the Crucicle. It was pretty disappointing. The hammer is really awesome and I'm satisfied with it, finally a useful super weapon
Damn I was really hope to see Dark Lord vs Slayer Cruicible duel like Star Wars.
I was waiting for Hayden with demonic vs Slayer with Archvile trailer Crucible.
Then the game came out.

I expected the dark lord to be a hammer vs sword fight.
I was hoping it would be something fast, with the scenery being like space and time tearing.
The same animations for the modified monsters reminds me a lot of how with custom monsters in zdoom can inherit all the code from a parent monster and allow you to add only the code that makes it different, which saves a lot of time and space when it's something simple like a Stone Imp (or its custom bestiary constituent the Soul Harvester, especially in its pre-667 update) for example
I find it really interesting how the crucible is coded like a specialized glory kill. I'm sure if a debug mode ends up coming out, that sort of GK view while holding it could be applied to all enemies
The dark lord and the slayers swords is a lightsaber battle that we needed
next doom expansion should feature legit swordfighting with the very best that demons have to offer. Something like a sword fight with the Marauder where you have to block, dodge, and hit to win

It's cool to see the GK highlight thing, because seeing that you know exactly how the crucible works. Basically just activates GK without the stagger animation and uses a special Crucible GK animation.

Makes me think the difference of the Slayer's crucible to Davoth's crucible and the Demonic Crucible
I think the demonic crucble is a downgraded version of Davoths crucible while the Slayers crucible is a copy of the Demoic (not an exact copy because i dont think the slayers crucible has the tiny secondary blade )
It’s pretty dope with what you can do with console commands. I was able to bring in the sentinel hammer onto the base campaign without owning the dlc

Have you noticed you keep consuming blood punch charges when you use the crucible? It happened on the screecher and on the dark lord summons. You only took note of it for the cursed prowler.
No lie, I did not notice it during the other enemies. That's interesting... wonder if that's just a new thing with the TAG2 enemies or some new wonky physics with the Crucible, because doing the "no animation" on DH Sleds never did Blood Punch to my knowledge. Thanks for pointing that out.
@@BloodShot9001 They had probably added extra code to make sure that doesn't happen with the DH sled but haven't added it for new enemies just like they didn't add code to make sure the glory kill highlight thing doesn't turn on.
It seems that glory kill and blood punch have their code tied together and as you surmised the crucible is also coded as the glory kill.

actualy quite a smart way to link glory kills with the crucible...whoever coded that is good
I like how the sword determines only some enemies take its charge, basically telling the enemy they weren't worth the effort right before being cut in half
Hot take:
It would have been an even better twist for the Dark Lord fight if you gave up your hammer for a new crucible. Instead of having a flashing eyes segment, you have to dodge his attacks and hit him, but rather than insta glory kill him, it does damage against his suit in chunks. Do enough, and then you do a glory kill.
The arena is flooded with Crucible charges that respawn, but the Dark Lord still has his shield up first. So you use your guns to whittle his shield down till he casts it aside, allowing you to melee fight him. Sorta like the Khan Maykr.
This would have made the fight a lot more interesting.
Those are some very cool finds man. I really like videos like this. Make more if you feel like it!

Should have gone back to Teras N’baad and gotten another one of those blade things instead of wasting time at the world spear if the sword was gonna beat his ass this easily
It's not the same model for the armored baron! if you play it at 0.25 speed you can see it starts off with his armor on and it gets destroyed mid animation once he's been cut in two, at least in that first instance :)
The hammer is neat and all but I'd prefer it if we got our sword back
Crucible vs Dark Lord would've been legendary such wasted potential
0:48 You can see the Armored Baron's model getting cut in half a few frames before it changes to the Baron gibs.
That would be more interesting fight with Dark lord. Slayer drop super shotgun on the ground counted as all weapons. And then he takes crucible to hands to have just melee fight with Dark lord, just being able to use flamebench and grenades. They could add some cool mechanic to the crucible to not being just as one swing weapon, maybe shield with shield bash on alternative fire button and an special attack while in the air, also hold fire button to charge stronger attack or send wave similar to charged destroyers blade. And crucible just do some damage to Dark lord not instantly eating full health bar.
Or jusrt making the hammer similar to crucible but doing just some good damage with area of effect. Instead of slam stun and a lot of armor and health drop.
the dark lord when he sees that doomguy brought a slayer crucible instead of a hammer:

A shame they didn't intend to have the crucible in the normal game, even as an extra. It could have a nice option to spice things up. For instance, the screecher could have been set as insta-killable with the crucible without releasing its buff to other demons, and the armored Baron could have required two pipes, 1 for armor and the 2nd for the kill, kind of like a Doom Hunter.
If you slow down the footage, you can see that the animation appears to be fully functioning with the Armored Baron, up until right after the baron is cut in half where the model is just the normal baron
Other enemy : Cool glory kill or have glory kill highlights
Immora trooper : Lagging then i combust into a red mist
Lore accurate DoomSlayer .
If you take out the crucible in the room in Cultist Base where there's all the guys that just sit there, you can see the same glory kill highlight (at least last time I checked you could)

The crucible works on stone imps and cursed prowlers probably because they might show up in a future master level. Like how the specter whiplash is in super gore nest master level, even if you dont have ancient gods 1 or 2.
1:46 also makes sense considering that the animation files are also labeled Glory Kill I believe

On final sin, while i was wielding the crucible, a blood punch came out of nowhere.

Now I wish that you could bring Crucible instead of Hammer. Too easy fight, yet making the point about Dark Lord: he was never meant to be fought in honorable fight, he was meant to be humiliated for doing all the atrocities against humanity, a.k.a. Daisy.

On blood maykr it has no animation but idk how it works on possesed demons, I will test it tomorrow and let you know
Honestly I would've loved to clash with the Dark Lord with the Crucible
Stone imps and cursed prowlers working normal makes me think we'll get them in future master levels
i'm not 100% sure but i think the crucible counts for glory kill challenges, i remember it counting in the challenge where you have to perform different glory kills on pain elementals
I think the cursed prowler steaking your blood punch kinda further reveals that blood punches use the same system as glory kills, chainsaws, and crucibles, which is probably why they fail so often and feels really unnecesary imo- I hindle the blood punch in my classic doom mod just like any other projectile, activating if it hits something and doing nothing if it doesn't, and it works way better
Well that kinda is how it works. When you melee you game checks if you hit something, and then what it should do based on what you have. If you miss do nothing. If you you hit push the demon. If you hit and have a blood punch then use blood punch. If you hit and the demon is staggered, do a glory kill. The problem is not the ability, its the way it targets things.

Imo crucible is one of my fav video game weapons and I think it looks cooler than the hammer but hammer functions better.

Also can you Unbind one of the buttons and use designate it for the crucible and still Get the Hammer possibly? I mean will the game allow you to do this if there is two spots for the bind I noticed that crucible is in the binding cmds and it made me think that perhaps one could actually un bind like say the down on the d-pad or even a keybord button for instance in order to have the normal button for the hammer and still KEEP the Crucible or would it just change both to the hammer I will attempt this as well wish me luck!

I missed my sword so much in this DLC. I wanted so badly to lock swords with the Dark Lord.
I for some reason expected it to not work on anything or do pitiful damage

Late to the party but I honestly hate how the crucible gets completely disregarded. It had a lot of potential and would've been very useful throughout most of TAG 1 and the beginning of TAG 2.

how were you able to keep the sword through all the levels I could only keep it on the first world spear opening level then I ran into some trouble with the tutorials since you cannot switch them off it starts them with no weapon available and you have to run a cheat engine just to default back to the hammer at that point boom no more crucible!?
Oh cool maybe I'll fight the Dork lord again beyond the first time. Hes so much fun I haven't fought him again with my other play throughs. I'll let the willing players come out with some more tactics and try them out.
I think that he's so lackluster to fight because you're on a single platform/level and you basically just stand and run around waiting for him to do his green eyed attack. If they added platforming, different levels, more ways to damage him, he'd be my favorite boss
it'd be cooler if berserk worked like that, just letting you GK everything with standard kills instead of the 2 available kills for everything

I wouldn't be surprised if they just keel over and die / aren't affected by it at all but i have to know! (And I'm too lazy to test it myself at the moment)
why does the crucible fit with TAG2 more than the hammer, or is it just me
Now we are on the whole using console on Doom Eternal, could you show the results of using berserk on an archvile? Can't find anywhere what happens since you can't normally have the powerup in levels where archviles spawn.
I might do a video on that, at the VERY least I wanna do it for the TAG2 enemies. I think there's a video of a cut master level that did Berserk on an Archvile, but I'd be down for trying to do all of them.

Dark Lord and Doom Slayer crucible fight are way better than just fighting the Dark Lord with a Sentinel Hammer.
Does it have any interaction with spirits and blood maykrs?
