Totally agree to what you’re saying. My thinking to why they don’t is because 7.62x25 is a foreign round. It’s a round from the Cold War enemy. I absolutely love my Tokarevs and wish they would make a modern gun in 7.62x25 but the whole point of 30SC is to be able to fit more rounds with close to the same power of 9mm.
I would love if somebody would make a modern pistol chambered in 7.62 Tok, need to start bugging Zastava, because they make it P226 clone that could easily be re-chambered for it

.30 Super Carry was invented by a .45ACP fan. He created it just to troll 9mm people. All their arguments they use for 9mm they say are advantages are thrown right back at them! "you can carry more rounds!" "it has just as much energy!" "it's faster!"
You said it in this video; "I guess you don't get extra rounds", and you're correct, because Tok has an almost identical base diameter to 9mm. So you have the same small diameter bullet, with lower capacity. You have JUST rationalized Federal's decision. Also, .309 is a diameter not commonly tooled for in the US, and Tok a bottlenecked, tapered-body cartridge. So not only will the brass be more expensive to (newly) manufacture, but magazines are more difficult to design, especially double-stack ones. And the reason there's no S&W shield in 7.62x25 is because it's A QUARTER INCH longer than 9mm.
I was just messing around and it is mostly tongue in cheek. I just really like the 7.62x25 and wish more was available for it. I love shooting my M57's and know a lot of people who do as well. Thanks for commenting.

Then I switched to reloading dies because their telescopic seating die would be the best for this cartridge. Said he didnt think there would be a demand….Me: but you make 30 luger dies??? You should probably look at the import numbers for guns that chamber this. Anyway… Those surplus are probably 86gr. I think that was the Warsaw standard. Fun Trivia: The Tokarev round was stole from Germany’s 30 Mauser. (Same accept for pressure) The 30 Mauser case had the shoulder cut off and was loaded with a 9mm bullet. This became the 9mm Parabellum we use today. Also the reason for the slight useless taper left in the case. Good stuff KFW!
Hey brother. I am glad you commented. I know you love the 7.62x25 as much or more that I do. Those surplus were 86gr., I got mixed up on that. Very interesting history and I was going to compare the tok and 9mm more, just decided not to do it for this video. Thanks again and take care.
Not trying to be annoying, but 9mm Luger came from 7.63x21 Luger or .30 Luger being necked up. The taper was left I think because it helps some with extraction and chambering, kind of like 7.62x39 vs 5.56x45. The greater taper of 7.62x39 allows for easier extraction when you're using steel cases and the chamber is really hot and fouled. A weird side note, you can buy Glock .30 Luger barrels and they feed fine from standard 9mm mags. Fiocchi and PPU .30 Luger used to be around $20 per 50 online before pricing rocketed. 7.63x25 Mauser or .30 Mauser was basically the competition to Luger. And Russia purchased C96 broom handle Mausers earlier on, which is where they took a liking to 7.63x25 Mauser. When they developed the Tokarev pistol they made a few minor alterations to the original .30 Mauser load to create 7.62x25 Tok. It's interesting to compare what different groups consider to be max pressure for .30 Mauser and 7.62x25 Tokarev, there's some overlap in terms of pressure. But generally the hottest loads are for the Tokarev and guns chambered for it.
@@joelmclamore1139 I remember that now. Winchester white box in 7.62x25. That used to be a hot load from what I remember. I wish there would be a rival of 7.62x25 in the mainstream ammo and gun world.

As much as I love the 7.62x25, it's really an apples/oranges kind of situation here. It's longer, bottlenecked, and I'm fairly certain it has a lower operating pressure than the 30SC. Given that the hottest part of the pistol market is concealed carry, it just wouldn't make sense to pour R&D and manufacturing capacity into a round which is less well suited to small frame pistols AND not really thought of as suitable for hunting - although I'm sure 7.62x25 packs quite a punch out of a 16"+ barrel. Not that I'm anxious to grab a 30SC gun, I would have preferred that they target. 380 performance with increased capacity rather than just reproducing 9mm with a smidgen more bullets. The. 380-sized frames are the ones that would really benefit from increased capacity, whereas for 9mm guns that's just not so much of an issue anymore.

Ballistically better but more recoil and less capacity. Folks choose .380ACP for less recoil and greater capacity than 9mm. It does not ballistically outperform 9mm barely hanging on to 9mm average velocity except in less recoil and more capacity. 9mm is a standardized NATO round also. 30 Super might hang on as a competition round like .38 Super or it will fizzle out.
I just think it is funny how these companies try to create a problem that doesn't exist and then make a solution that we don't need. It's fine, I mean that's obviously how they make money. Instead of starting up a new line to make this ammo how about making more ammo that people actually have guns for. Oh well, just my observations.

Or if Federal would just make the only good thing they make.....primers! lol Thanks for the video and love the Tok. Just got set up to convert 38 special brass to Tok.
Thanks. It would be nice if they would make some primers, for sure. I have never heard of 38 special converted to Tok. The 38 special is a rimmed cartridge and Tok is not.
Thanks for the comment. I really love these guns as well. 30 super carry is a totally different cartridge that the 7.62X25 and should not be use in the Tokarev. I was just picking on Federal for making up a new cartridge instead of making ammo for guns people already have.
Bullets are skinnier. The cases are fatter. The OAL is longer. The pressure is lower. There aren't any defensive loads that use cutting edge tech. There are no modern firearms in it because of its dimensions. You can't fit 7.62xtok in a modern pocket pistol because the frame size is obscure. 7.62xtok is cool but it's not designed to do the same thing. 30 supercarry is designed to optimize something like a s&w shield sized weapon or a glock 43x so it can have a 15 round magazine. 7.52x tok would be a direct competitor to 10mm... a long case, near-magmum, semi auto round.

Be thankful you don't live in NY. I'm in upstate, moved here manditory because of my job, I came from NM. They just came out with an unethical law that you can't have ammo sent to your house, and when you go to places in NY to buy ammo, you have to do a background check like you are buying a gun. The messed-up part is that there is specialty ammo like 7.62x25 that none of the damn ammo places around me would have. TO MAKE THINGS EVEN WORSE, online ammo sites via ammo seek, will not even give you an option to buy and ship to your FFL. NY is banned in the shipping address so therefore; the American consumer is shit out of luck if he lives on a farm in upstate NY or anywhere else in NY.
I believe that is what the Tokarev was based on. The Tokarev is longer and higher pressure. You can shoot 30 luger in a Tokarev but not the other way around.

You dinosaurs need to evolve to the 21st century. The 30 Super is a long overdue update of the 32ACP which was developed by John Browning in 1899. It will also compete with 380ACP. It is not a replacement for 9x19, 357 Sig, 40SW or 45 ACP. The cartridge may also become popular in other countries that do not permit civilian possession of military cartridges like 9mm Luger. If a 100 grain bullet can produce 330 ft-lbs of energy out of a 3 inch barrel whilst being controllable in a sub-compact pistol - it is a game changer. That being said, 50,000 PSI is rifle level chamber pressure. It may be a barn burner at the muzzle it may not work well with micro-pocket size pistols like the KelTec P3AT or straight blow-back pistol designs like the Walther PPK or CZ-83... but those are old school, 20th century designs. Move on people... It's called evolution. And 357Sig trumps 7.62 x 25 Tokarev.
I am not against 30 super carry or innovation. The video is meant to tongue in cheek. In 30 years people will still be shooting 7.62x25. 30 Super carry will go the way of 357SIG, nowhere.
Its not an update of the .32 acp its just the same bullet diameter. The .30SC has the same recoil as 9mm and much more pressure. So its now way a pocket /mouse gun caliber.
A slightly longer rimless .32 to replace the .32 ACP and offer more capacity than the .380 pocket pistols may have had a better chance than the high pressure 30 SC which will never compete with the 9 mm or 380. Another failed experiment.
Either you need to quit hurrying your shots or practice more with that particular firearm. There is a possibility you have purchased an inaccurate firearm as has been my experience most tt33 or 54-1 have been above average accurate. The Tokerav is a JB design so a knowledge gun person should be able to improve the designs accuracy..some decent grade ammunition wouldn't hurt. Funny that americans enamour the 9mm but shun the russian guns. 7.62x25 has a lot of potential.
What they are doing is pretty much proving what have been saying the whole time. FBI went to 9mm since it offered more rounds, less recoil, since most agents really dont shoot well. They need more rounds to fight since theie skills just arent there to handle the .40 what 30 super carry is saying, hey since 9mm is already inferior to .40, but offere more rounds and less recoil, let make another inferior round that perform like the 9mm but offers more ammo and less recoil. Lets see how long untill FBI adopts the .22lr hahahahaha. Only a matter of time until 40 takes over again.
@@kyfirearms its true. What 30 super Carry is saying is 9mm isn't enough. What common says say is, yes we know 9mm isn't enough, that's why we've been using the .40.
Yes, let's stop innovating and just use old Combloc firearm/ammunition patterns that are sub optimal, which even *Russia and China* have abandoned in favor of the 9x18mm. Who needs new rounds that will feed and load better, or lighter smaller firearms that are more reliable and easier to conceal?

I just think it is funny how these companies try to create a problem that doesn't exist and then make a solution that we don't need. It's fine, I mean that's obviously how they make money. Instead of starting up a new line to make this ammo how about making more ammo that people actually have guns for. Oh well, just my observations.
@@kyfirearms I could not agree more with all of that. Politicians do the same thing.
.380 is 9mm (9x17) also so it doesnt has more capacity than 9x19.
@@Gieszkanne Yes. Same mag capacity, but less powder capacity. I typed it wrong.
@@rbm6184 .30 super carry is already an extremely high pressure cartridge so more powder capacity wouldn't be helpful anyway.
Thanks. A good and interesting video. Take care.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
I have a tok and a 9mm hp77b both are great pistols
Now i dont know what will be the outcome for this new round🤔 30 super carry is it accurate or not professionals will tell
.40 s&w needs a come back I used to be a hater but 165 grain hst at 1200fps in a 4 inch barrel is the best
I love 40S&W and I don't think it ever went away. I know 9mm has been the craze for the last few years, but 40 S&W was king for many years and is still being used. Thanks for the comment.
Just another one of those come and go rounds.
Poachers also use this round, especially the CZ 52 pistol when they use it against larger animals
It seems like with a little work you could prove your concept. Chamber ream a S&W shield out to 30 T. Granted you might have to expand the neck a little to take on the slightly larger diameter. Would be interesting.
The first thing I though of when I heard of the 30 SC was why don't they just make a modern pistol that takes the Tok?
I guess we were thinking the same thing. Thanks for the comment.
I'd love to see a modern pistol in 7.62 tk.
I imagine it could be quite powerful with modern powders and tweaking
It would be cool, we can only dream.
Agree 100%
Or if Federal would just make the only good thing they make.....primers! lol Thanks for the video and love the Tok. Just got set up to convert 38 special brass to Tok.
Thanks. It would be nice if they would make some primers, for sure. I have never heard of 38 special converted to Tok. The 38 special is a rimmed cartridge and Tok is not.
@@kyfirearms yep you have to turn the rim down and back cut in front of the rim. It is dimensionally much closer than 223 brass.
i love my tokarev. can we shoot super carry out of a tokarev?
Thanks for the comment. I really love these guns as well. 30 super carry is a totally different cartridge that the 7.62X25 and should not be use in the Tokarev. I was just picking on Federal for making up a new cartridge instead of making ammo for guns people already have.
No doubt about it! Let's see the Shield Plus in 7.62x25! Or Glock? Where you at?
That would be nice. We can only hope. 👍
Men thoseTokarek bullets travel way fast
Yes they do. That's out of a 4 inch barrel.
And honestly the 30 supers performance is basically under loaded 762x25
I am not impressed by the marketing. I wish companies would focus on ammo and components for guns that people already have.
Nice video
Thanks, I appreciate it.
@@kyfirearms ❤
7.62x25 HAVE NOT 100 grain bullet. 85 grain about. Muzzle velocity in normal pressure - 420 m/s. =474 j energy, NOT 474 ft-pound. Author is a Andersen
So true KFW. Mike.
Thanks for watching, brother.
Is your 213 stainless or nickel.
I think it is nickel plated.
@@kyfirearms yours is the only other one ( than mine ) I’ve seen.
NORINCO Makes A Sig Clone In 7.62x25..
Available In Canada
Sounds awesome. I would like to try one out. Thanks for the comment.
Kindly tell me about 7.62*25 is better Round for self defence or not?
It could be. There isn't any self defense ammo available for it. Companies don't make good ammo for this caliber.
@@kyfirearms PPU has jacketed hollow point in 86 grain for 7.62x25, I got some from J&G Sales years ago. I just chronographed it today, averaging 1350 fps.
It is but in jhp, however I want to see the hydrostatic shock a flat nose round would do.
I feel for you. That’s messed up.
Amen 🙏
7.62x25 was the number 1 round for law enforcement in Europe 🇪🇺 for 50yrs... until 5.7x28 was brought out by the Belgium 🇧🇪 group 🤷
Yes. It is a awesome little cartridge that has been forgotten. Probably due to Russian connection. Thanks for the comment 👍.
If “they do this every year”, i.e coming out with different cartridges in new calibers I’ve missed it. 🤷♂️
I don’t see the “gap” between 380 and 9x19...and the 30 super carry is definitely not comparable to 7.62x25,...
How does it stack up to 30 Luger?
I believe that is what the Tokarev was based on. The Tokarev is longer and higher pressure. You can shoot 30 luger in a Tokarev but not the other way around.
@@kyfirearms 7.62 tok,7.63 mauser,7.65 luger,from which the 9 mm sprang.i have a 1921 commercial luger 7.65,1 chinese tok,2 cz 52 tok and used to have a 7.63 broomhandle mauser.
great vid, kinda like the manbun creedmor is just marketing... 🤠
Thanks. Yep, a lot of marketing.

Definitely not insinuating that lol. Just an excuse to come over and experience these freedom tools first hand

I've written Buffalo Bore 2x asking 4 a Modern Tok!!!!
HELP ME!!!
Oh just chamber a decent round in a decent gun. 30 carbine in a handgun would be great.
I can assure you that a tokarev walks on the 357 sig in terms of penetration
Its not an update of the .32 acp its just the same bullet diameter. The .30SC has the same recoil as 9mm and much more pressure. So its now way a pocket /mouse gun caliber.
A slightly longer rimless .32 to replace the .32 ACP and offer more capacity than the .380 pocket pistols may have had a better chance than the high pressure 30 SC which will never compete with the 9 mm or 380. Another failed experiment.
Yes a rimless .32 ACP maybe a bit more power to match .380 would success more likely.
Only a matter of time until
40 takes over again.
Yep, the whole less recoil, more rounds argument. I love 40S&W and continue to shoot it and carry it a lot. Thanks for the comment.
BS! I have played Escape from Tarkov and 7.62X25 is crap.....
