  • Located in the Hill Country just northwest of San Antonio, this little German burg is full of lots of unique adventures that might seem random, but all together they form one epic day trip!
Stop by the “Happestrause” (that’s German for “Main Street”) for all kinds of shops and eats. Inside Carousel Antiques, you’ll find Fickle Pickles, where you can shop and snack on homemade pickles at the same time!
On the first floor of the Boerne Public Library, you’ll find the Low German Bible, which dates back to 1614 and is one of only 6 remaining Bibles of its kind. It’s based on Martin Luther’s original translation during the Protestant Reformation.
Join the locals at the Boerne Shooting Club for this German tradition that dates back to 1864. The range is full of guns, targets and shooting games that’ll bring out the competition in anyone. It is a members only club, but they welcome all at their many events and memberships are open too.
Though Mary’s Tacos may seem small from the outside, there’s a reason it’s always packed - it serves up BIG flavor in BIG tacos. With fresh salsa, homemade tortillas that are never more than 10 minutes off the griddle when you get them and delicious fillings that are named after their customers, it’s taco nirvana.
Soda Pops and Sugar Shack have permanently closed since filming.
Unfortunately, Random has also closed since filming.
Visit the Cibolo Nature Center to wander through a wide open prairie land, a wetland marsh, a woodland forest and a post oak savannah - all within a few feet of each other! You can even float through the gently flowing Cibolo Creek to cool off on a hot day or just stick to the trail along its banks when it’s too cold for a swim. Make time for one of their many programs and to visit the Herff Farmstead for hands-on learning.
Outside of town, you’ll find Cave Without a Name that’s one of the most beautiful caves in Texas. It’s full of wondrous formations, and was actually discovered by three children. And as for that name (or non-name), it was decided when the owners ran a contest to name the cave. When one entrant said, “That cave is too beautiful for a name” - it stuck, and the rest is history.

My family has had a ranch just outside Boerne for over 3 decades. We knew the previous, generational German owners prior as well. It blows my mind mind how much little Boerne has grown in just my lifetime, and even more from the stories I heard from Mr. Bubi Herbst. He could remember when the highways were dirt roads, unpaved until the '50s according to him. RIP.

We're being pushed out everywhere!!! Dickheads like this try to make Texas look different.
Us Germans settled here and more because of hurricanes and the hill country looks like home.
Get a long with these guys, 🤣🤣🤣, bud, I'm old and grey, the things folks will be saying after you leave. 😂😂

As a child, I was so disappointed in what a real Road Runner looked like. But, I have the Plymouth muscle car-based version of the classic blue and purple bird. Love this channel. Chet, you and the crew are the best!

@Chet, I love watching all your Daytripper episodes! I love our state of Texas and spend many weekend daytripping myself. Next time you are in Boerne you must try Compadres Hill Country Cocina - 209 Lohmann St, Chef Mark, is featuring RGV cooking style, which is a straight Tejano style cooking, he has worked in reputable country clubs throughout the state of TX and now has this humble spot in Boerne. He is a Veteran and does a lot for the Veteran community. He gives free beer when you eat there. Then head to Free Roam Brewing Company, they are a group of great friendly guys!

    Hey, Chet!
Love your videos. Just watched Day Trip to Boerne--super fun!
I thought I would send you a German tip (I have a BA in German from Baylor, and lived/worked in Germany for years).
When you pronounce "Lederhosen," the first syllable should be like the English word 'lay,' not 'lee."
The German word "Lieder" means songs, and is pronounced with the first syllable like the English 'lee.' So, when you say "lee-der-ho-zen," you are saying "songs pants." Funny.

Nice shootin' Tex! Bullseye!! AWESOME episode overall. Sooo many neat things in this one. Great reference to one of the most absurd but funny movies from back in the day. The producers of the movie are kicking themselves for not thinking of the trampoline gag. That bible is truly an amazing price of history and culture. 7:13 The rifles all in a row with the iconic come and take it in the background ya just a great shot(see what I did there?) That's a really cool range Rapid fire allowed yee haw! That's kinda rare for those who don't know. Just a tip for you both eyes open with the red dot sights. That's a big part of what makes them so great for rapid target acquisition. Looks like you had fun with that airgun eh? Cibolo just gorgeous what an Eden. Heck you even got a little A.S.M.R with the music and the cave guides soothing voice carefully explaining the features of the caves. Random looks really cool too. I'm about to purchase a new(to me) touring vehicle and this area is now on my list. Seriously one of my favorite episodes. Cool Chet

Sorry you feel that way. I like the guy because he builds things and employs people. Looks like he spends money there also. And as far as that goes, he is a veterinarian and a successful business owner. I don't know him personally, but he found a market for his skills. Good on him. He seems to be somebody that would be a good friend.

Boerne shooting club has to be horrible, idiotic, clueless on shooting. You shot with no eye protection or ear protection.
Any....any normal shooting range requires eye and ear protection. If proper shooting etiquette is not used ( especially for a video promotion), unsafe club. Run... away from it.
