I had this fucking ptera. We only lvl speed and a little Stam. Sprinting would BREAK the map and other players on the map would notice! He eventually lost him since he was on neutral on accident and something attacked the base. I bet he's still flying out there somewhere. At mach 5
My BF played ark back in 2015, and he told me movement speed on flyers leveled up with things like imprinting. He told me about a ptero he had, and how fast it was. And he plays on console, so it was huge buggy mess back then, and he'd lag wicked bad whenever he mounted that ptero hahah. Worse than he does now on official, and i bought him an Xbox Series S for xmas last year hahah. He said it was practically unusable with how fast it was
Idk I think adding cryo pods was one of the best things they ever did helped with lag on the server. An also helped solo players like myself hide there tames while offline. Not all of us can be on 24/7.
Cryopods could have been perfect if they originally (and on boosted servers even cared to) implemented the melee cooldown OR even a "cannot ride" timer. If you had to wait like 10 seconds before you could ride the thing it would make ground PvP situations more intense, since everyone either tries to flee or just pops their melee giga and rinse-repeat. But yeah for lag reduction, farming, and transport/storage it's much better. But I did still like how massive old bases used to be even early on simply for dino-storage.
and the time where rocket launchers had grades too ;) I remember my first Red Rocketlauncher from fishing, my tribe almost built a statue for me IRL XD
From what I've heard Ark2 is going to be much more primitive focused, so fingers crossed that's true because I do think it will make everything much more enjoyable.
They said that but now they’re saying ‘some’ tek. So it’ll likely go crazy like ark one 😭😭. Hopefully they’ll make some sort of primitive mode. I don’t mind guns, but tek makes the game boring imo
@@rebeccamoore530 i wasnt too bothered about the idea of tek because i felt like it was a cool reward for beating the main bosses, but if they can make it less of an insane upgrade from the modern tech, then i wouldnt mind it being reintroduced, so long as its not borderline unfair. Edit: to better explain what i mean, it would be cool if tek was more focused on automation or something, where things like the industrial forge could be streamlined so that you have machines that work together to craft and make stuff for you at a more efficient pace than what the previous tech would do for you. think of it like you get access to the create mod in minecraft vanilla after beating the wither, rather than having to rely on redstone and costing insane resources to make complicated builds. it wont be busted in the sense that its so much more powerful than what you had before, but it improves the players experience by making tasks more efficient, or introducing new items or features to help overcome limitations that you were previously struggling with. that way, players will not feel hopeless when fighting someone with tek because of the insane power gap, but players will still take it over what they currently have because it makes basic and complicated tasks so much easier to complete
2016 ark was just awesome. I was still in school at this time and all i did after coming home was playing ark. After a not liked tribe then took over the server (old admins sold the server, cause they stopped playing themselfs) all the other tribes (mostly the three big - including mine) got together to raid the new admin tribe, cause they started chesting, ignoring their own rules etc. This was just awesome. We prepared 2 weeks for this raid and it took us 5 hours to destroy everything they had, until they started banning people snd whipped out the drake….is miss this time
I miss buffing my pt and argy speed as much as i could just to fly across the map in 10 seconds on island. I still vividly remember me and my best friends first ever tame was a sarco we knocked out with our fists because it was stuck in trees. We didn't even know about clubs or armor lol. Now many years later i use a moschops as my war mount. Some things just change for the better. I miss the experience of og ark and before i knew how to play. Nothing will ever top being able to ride on a dinosaur for the first time. Our memories may be in the past but will be cherished forever.
Seconds into the video and I just gotta stop and agree with you whole heartedly. Old ark is the true ark. I can appreciate everything they've done. And when you think about a lot of the things they've added they are really cool or super useful but everything together is just too much.

And yeah, I haven't touched pvp since Extinction. Kinda just mess around on small servers with mods once in a while, slowly waiting for ark2...
I love restarts at this point, it's honestly the most fun in the game, rebuilding from nothing is very rewarding for me. It may have something to do with my limited time to play, but I find it the most fun, and stick to pre Tek, even tho I have all the DLC's.
-When ind. cookers didnt fill with tanks and you had to put canteens in them to auto fill -flyers had move speed -Ptera could spam spin to win and it did crazy damage -Argy couldn't pick up Anky -Vaults only had 100 slots -Stacking walls were all the rage -Body bags on Quetz to gather multiple slot caps of metal or anything really -Body bags in general (This one alot of people dont know) -raptors didnt have a jump attack -troodons haden't been invented yet -no cryo pods -trike / stego / turtle were the best soakers yeah...
I was so stoked when my big brother bought me ark for my 11th birthday😄 I love dinosaurs I love the atmosphere about the game and honestly ark will always be fun to me.
I remember having to take shifts with my tribe taming a 120 max level quetzal for 20+ hours. The real OG’s now default official taming is actually x2 lol
I remember having an amazing time building boats and taming boats and entire bases on water....then they decided to make the mobydickhead Alot of old ark was strategy and the only real thing that was improved besides the glitches was the kibble as before you needed specific dinos for specific dinos (troodon needed a giga egg as an example)
Old 2015 Ark was the shit, I used to be part of this gigantic tribe alliance on old PS4 official server 715, which has been long since deleted. It all fell apart when we were getting ddosed daily and eventually wiped by some "allies". It still remains as one of my favorite moments in all of my time playing games. I met tons of cool people and have so many great stories and memories of that era. Still wish I could go back sometimes.
Me and my boys would hop on the quetz and walk one of our Gigas with bonkers melee onto the platform. We'd pull up to the enemy fob and drop the giga on it and melt all their tames, it was beautiful.
Aberration was the best time in ark ever. There isn't really anything else to say, the game was fairly balanced (it was probably the most balanced compared to future dlcs) and it was great.

June of 15, 16 year old me with graphics that would put the PS1 to shame, survived a pvp beach full of deformed survivors that didn't know anything past narcoberries. Then lasted long enough to build a thatch shack and log off with my first tame, a lvl 2 dodo named gollum.
I remember when my homies and I became alpha on The Island and the volcano was the main spot to build. Back when the wyverns were barely a thing and people weren’t forced to build underwater in fear of those ridiculous titans. Back when the grind was actually addicting!

I remember coming home everyday excited to watch Iballisticsquid play bingo island,and kingdaddydmac and slipgater play pooping evolved. And I remember checking everyday how long until it would come out on ps4. I think I still remember when it did I think it was 2016 December 16. I remember getting it for Christmas and being so excited. I only had scorched earth at that point and got destroyed. I remember I didn’t even know how to play on a server I just single player. @@Thepre-fixfordeath what caused the cave meta was titans from Extinction, what caused the rat hole meta was meshers. Yeah there was always tek/op creatures i.e. Gigas, and old 1500+ melee rex lines, etc but it's gotten much more toxic and unsustainable than it use to be. Most people/players and streamers agree the Gen 2 meta is trash... Most non official servers die in pop after the first week and most official servers are either mega tribes or meshed bases.
i was in 6th grade when ark came out i remember when i first had it on xbox and sitting on the back of a turtle thinking i was riding it with my friends those where the golden times in life for me having so much fun with friends and coming home from school everyday to watch slipg8r play ark
Anyone else remember trading in fibre? You could buy a top level Rex from another player for like 1k fibre xD No tools or dinos capable of farming it, just hand on bush lol. - Volcano just a shallow, flat pit full of metal rocks, no lava. Everyone's Ankys lined up at the side :') - Bodies flying off into the distance after killing - No alphas - No snow biome, no redwood, no swamps - Obelisk colours switched around (I think green was where red now is) - Those terrifying boundaries that would appear telling you the area is to be updated, move your stuff or it will be deleted. Weeks of work gone lol - Constantly getting 'update in 15 mins' warnings, and having to log out for a few hours. Such a simple and even buggier game then. I miss seeing a lot of it, but definitely prefer it now :D

Now myself i am not an OG ARK player but i am someone who loves the game a lot, i have had the game for 3 years now and must say it is probably my favourite or one of favourite games to ever exist. I don't play it much tho i love it. And i must say it looks like it was fun back in the day
Back in the days ARK was a lot more survival. I liked it a lot more. In the past, you built a few turrets at a Cliff spot and tamed a few Rexes and you where the King. Today turret runs, stegos and inis dominante the servers
i tried 2015 Ark Again and its amazing .... then start in ark 2016 and never see ark 2015.. which is the exact reason ark became so lame. Listening to feedback of people and more importantly money.
This! This right here! I have been craving a running series of someone playing online PvE with a small group of friends. With official servers and official settings! It may be a slow series, but Ark isn't about the destination. It's always been about the journey. If this could become a series, I'd gladly sub and watch them all.
That’s what I wanted, I really struggled on small tribes to get fabricator up and running because you get raided by people on mutated manas etc was just an endless cycle of spawn farm metal get wiped 🤣

Bro, I remember getting hyped about the spino getting added. The spino (if I am remembering this right) was the first Dino added to ark, and the day it was added I made it my goal to tame one. Only for me to bring 20 narcotics (they wake up fast) and it killed me :/ (I did later take it, but lose it to a race when I was offline. The guy that raided me, later got raided by my friend, who happened to be friends with the server admin and a part of the alpha tribe. Still remember it like it was yesterday)
Ahhh….. the good ole days. Back when you still had a fighting chance to cockslap megatribes (472 on playstation official pvp) we used to frequently have a great time blowing up umbrella corp to smithereens, the meat runs were legendary. Legacy ruled.
Pre-tech was perfect for me.. After tech came along, my time in the game was done.. Alpha tribes on different servers coming on ours to take over.. We just couldn't compete with multiserver groups.

The nostalgia of Ark is nice but the rates back then were not. Hopefully Ark2 has a good mid range of everything and fixes all of the things they messed up with Ark.
guys we all remember the og ark and when you first started playing when you see brontos and you really want to tame it, tek gear was not a thing, you didnt know what gigas were, almost all of the dinos were uknown to you, the titanosaur looked way to huge, the obelisks were one of the first things you explore, dodo birds were the best tame, you didnt know any of the caves, you didnt see the entire map, you wanted to explore the ocean, all of the engrams were uknown to you, you lived on a raft and your builds were terrible and small.
I miss the super Old Ark. The beta ark where there wasn't any quetz's, giga's,titanosaurs ect. Dino's were max lvl 30,There wasn't any redwoods, most people didn't even know about turrets and a 30 rex was considered god. Bronto's and Paracers were the go-to for pushing bases and it was just in the starting days of ark so you didn't really hear of duping or ratholes ect. People actually built giant bases in the open.
2015 Ark but there's Tek Dinos! I wish there was a way to legit play the map like it was then. I honestly just never moved beyond it. Never got into tech and always felt totally out of place when I played in tribes that advanced too fast.
Best time on og ark was on a pay to win server. Me and my friend spent 5 dollars for c4 and raided a tribe that had just bought a 500$ pack 2 hours into wipe and didn’t set themselves to invulnerable. Stole all their loot and the admin was on our side because they didn’t change their tribe name to immune
this isn't ark 2015. Back in the day in the very early ARK items stack up to 20 things per stack. Only fiber and thatch could go up to 50 or 100. Also stone pick/pickaxe was gathering only 1-2 pieces of meat/stone/wood/thatch. Bushes also were giving you only 1-2 berries per gather. And taming... If you think that it takes too long to tame dinos on the official server today, think that in 2015 everything took ~3 times longer to tame. Ark in 2015 was completely different game. And sooo unoptimized - I remember getting 15fps ON LOW, using gtx 760.
Raft base isnt bad to start with but its an easy raid if you're offline. I was on a raft for about 3 days to farm then moved to mainland converting my raft into a grind plat/ battle boat
we had an alpha tribe on official, i remember having to have alt account ally with our trybe to have all the dino’s to make kibble , it was so hard to get all the kibble , and the real alpha trybe made rules so people couldn’t have turrets and made them pay tax in gunpowder lol
Oh my lord I remember how broken Ark was on release on Xbox but I still loved it, it was so fun and simple nowadays you go to play on a server like this for fun and you get people who kill an Alpha with a pet to go above the 44 lvl cap to get a Dire Bear saddle and ruin the fun, idk if it's changed since then since I quit the game, damn shame that's what gaming is coming to now taking the easy way out and devs catering to that and milking money out of people *Cough* Ubisoft's For Honor
When they made it where you can transfer items and dinos between servers that was final nail in the coffin. My clans big peaceful yet competitive server got dropped by a mega mega tribe. You should only be able to transfer your character and that’s it.
This one I disagree on. Because once one tribe gets ahead there is not catching up. My whole tribe could go afk for weeks and I doubt you would be able to do much damage spawning in level 1.

This kinda game actually exists now days on console its on a cluster called the mixx it was started by a group of vanilla ark players that loved the game and hates what it is today look it up on consoles
The glorious time when the only way to tame a megalodon was to bait them to the beach shore, cause you couldn't use anything underwater to knock crap out... Or the fact that there was no difference between taming a lvl 120, or a level 1, cause they would get the same base stats when tamed, but the time it would take to tame a 120 would take around half a day.

Seconds into the video and I just gotta stop and agree with you whole heartedly. Old ark is the true ark. I can appreciate everything they've done. And when you think about a lot of the things they've added they are really cool or super useful but everything together is just too much.
The pvp meta atm is complete horse shit. The stuff they’ve bought out in gen1/gen2 has ruined the game.

I love restarts at this point, it's honestly the most fun in the game, rebuilding from nothing is very rewarding for me. It may have something to do with my limited time to play, but I find it the most fun, and stick to pre Tek, even tho I have all the DLC's.

Alot of old ark was strategy and the only real thing that was improved besides the glitches was the kibble as before you needed specific dinos for specific dinos (troodon needed a giga egg as an example)

Old 2015 Ark was the shit, I used to be part of this gigantic tribe alliance on old PS4 official server 715, which has been long since deleted. It all fell apart when we were getting ddosed daily and eventually wiped by some "allies". It still remains as one of my favorite moments in all of my time playing games. I met tons of cool people and have so many great stories and memories of that era. Still wish I could go back sometimes.
Who remembers throwing as many turrets as you can on a quetz and fighting with them 😂
Me and my boys would hop on the quetz and walk one of our Gigas with bonkers melee onto the platform. We'd pull up to the enemy fob and drop the giga on it and melt all their tames, it was beautiful.

Aberration was the best time in ark ever. There isn't really anything else to say, the game was fairly balanced (it was probably the most balanced compared to future dlcs) and it was great.

June of 15, 16 year old me with graphics that would put the PS1 to shame, survived a pvp beach full of deformed survivors that didn't know anything past narcoberries. Then lasted long enough to build a thatch shack and log off with my first tame, a lvl 2 dodo named gollum.
I remember when my homies and I became alpha on The Island and the volcano was the main spot to build. Back when the wyverns were barely a thing and people weren’t forced to build underwater in fear of those ridiculous titans. Back when the grind was actually addicting!

Yeah there was always tek/op creatures i.e. Gigas, and old 1500+ melee rex lines, etc but it's gotten much more toxic and unsustainable than it use to be. Most people/players and streamers agree the Gen 2 meta is trash...
Most non official servers die in pop after the first week and most official servers are either mega tribes or meshed bases.

Anyone else remember trading in fibre? You could buy a top level Rex from another player for like 1k fibre xD No tools or dinos capable of farming it, just hand on bush lol.
- Volcano just a shallow, flat pit full of metal rocks, no lava. Everyone's Ankys lined up at the side :')
- Bodies flying off into the distance after killing
- No alphas
- No snow biome, no redwood, no swamps
- Obelisk colours switched around (I think green was where red now is)
- Those terrifying boundaries that would appear telling you the area is to be updated, move your stuff or it will be deleted. Weeks of work gone lol
- Constantly getting 'update in 15 mins' warnings, and having to log out for a few hours.
Such a simple and even buggier game then. I miss seeing a lot of it, but definitely prefer it now :D

Back in the days ARK was a lot more survival. I liked it a lot more. In the past, you built a few turrets at a Cliff spot and tamed a few Rexes and you where the King. Today turret runs, stegos and inis dominante the servers

It may be a slow series, but Ark isn't about the destination. It's always been about the journey. If this could become a series, I'd gladly sub and watch them all.

Bro, I remember getting hyped about the spino getting added. The spino (if I am remembering this right) was the first Dino added to ark, and the day it was added I made it my goal to tame one. Only for me to bring 20 narcotics (they wake up fast) and it killed me :/
(I did later take it, but lose it to a race when I was offline. The guy that raided me, later got raided by my friend, who happened to be friends with the server admin and a part of the alpha tribe. Still remember it like it was yesterday)

The old days, I joined ark right when the snow and swamp biomes were added. Og’s remeber when it was just normal forest
guys we all remember the og ark and when you first started playing when you see brontos and you really want to tame it, tek gear was not a thing, you didnt know what gigas were, almost all of the dinos were uknown to you, the titanosaur looked way to huge, the obelisks were one of the first things you explore, dodo birds were the best tame, you didnt know any of the caves, you didnt see the entire map, you wanted to explore the ocean, all of the engrams were uknown to you, you lived on a raft and your builds were terrible and small.
I miss the super Old Ark. The beta ark where there wasn't any quetz's, giga's,titanosaurs ect. Dino's were max lvl 30,There wasn't any redwoods, most people didn't even know about turrets and a 30 rex was considered god. Bronto's and Paracers were the go-to for pushing bases and it was just in the starting days of ark so you didn't really hear of duping or ratholes ect. People actually built giant bases in the open.

Just talked to my old mate yesterday about the good old days of massive, multi day, land base raids and defenses. It was the best.
Best time on og ark was on a pay to win server. Me and my friend spent 5 dollars for c4 and raided a tribe that had just bought a 500$ pack 2 hours into wipe and didn’t set themselves to invulnerable. Stole all their loot and the admin was on our side because they didn’t change their tribe name to immune

this isn't ark 2015. Back in the day in the very early ARK items stack up to 20 things per stack. Only fiber and thatch could go up to 50 or 100. Also stone pick/pickaxe was gathering only 1-2 pieces of meat/stone/wood/thatch. Bushes also were giving you only 1-2 berries per gather. And taming... If you think that it takes too long to tame dinos on the official server today, think that in 2015 everything took ~3 times longer to tame.
Ark in 2015 was completely different game. And sooo unoptimized - I remember getting 15fps ON LOW, using gtx 760.

Raft base isnt bad to start with but its an easy raid if you're offline. I was on a raft for about 3 days to farm then moved to mainland converting my raft into a grind plat/ battle boat
we had an alpha tribe on official, i remember having to have alt account ally with our trybe to have all the dino’s to make kibble , it was so hard to get all the kibble , and the real alpha trybe made rules so people couldn’t have turrets and made them pay tax in gunpowder lol
Oh my lord I remember how broken Ark was on release on Xbox but I still loved it, it was so fun and simple nowadays you go to play on a server like this for fun and you get people who kill an Alpha with a pet to go above the 44 lvl cap to get a Dire Bear saddle and ruin the fun, idk if it's changed since then since I quit the game, damn shame that's what gaming is coming to now taking the easy way out and devs catering to that and milking money out of people *Cough* Ubisoft's For Honor

When they made it where you can transfer items and dinos between servers that was final nail in the coffin. My clans big peaceful yet competitive server got dropped by a mega mega tribe. You should only be able to transfer your character and that’s it.
This one I disagree on. Because once one tribe gets ahead there is not catching up. My whole tribe could go afk for weeks and I doubt you would be able to do much damage spawning in level 1.

This kinda game actually exists now days on console its on a cluster called the mixx it was started by a group of vanilla ark players that loved the game and hates what it is today look it up on consoles
The glorious time when the only way to tame a megalodon was to bait them to the beach shore, cause you couldn't use anything underwater to knock crap out...
Or the fact that there was no difference between taming a lvl 120, or a level 1, cause they would get the same base stats when tamed, but the time it would take to tame a 120 would take around half a day.
Orp is kinda like 2015 ark, its just so much more fun knowing that u aren’t gonna be raided while offline and online base defenses are sooo fun
