You've got a good helper! Enjoy all the time you can as a daddy. My daughter grew up and moved out of the house this year. It goes faster than you can imagine.
WOW, just wow! Wow at your strength and stamina. Wow at your skill and talent. Wow at your desire for perfection. So nice to see that young lady of yours picking up useful life skills.
Dude! You worked your butt off on that concrete job and it turned out nice. You can also use your recip saw and remove the blade, pull the trigger and use the tool's foot as a vibrating device by placing the foot against the boards to make sure concrete goes all the way down and next to the sides of the boards. I've done that many times with excellent results.
It's so strange Glenn as I've made slabs like this in the past when I was younger and fitter and mixed the concrete by hand which was a killer. I have no intention of ever doing this kind of thing again in my lifetime, yet there is something compelling about the production of your videos that I find extremely cathartic to watch and never once thought about skipping. I know like a lot of us you've had struggles in the past that you have clearly overcome and are now in a better place and from one Dad to another it was fantastic to see you spending that daddy daughter time bonding over new skills. Good things come to good people and you are definitely good people so keep living your best life my friend. I look forward to your next project
Apparently my son's cat likes watching your videos. She sat and watched the first 15 min. Every time you threw dirt toward the camera, she looked at the floor.
As always, great project and work effort shown. As a Northerner, I'm still not sure you need to worry about the foundation moving in warmer climate like yours. Not a fan of disturbing a foundation even if a slab. A good solid solution would be to take that front 'footer' trench and add 4x 3' holes. Add a good amount of rebar and tie it too that rebar matrix and you'll have a pretty strong slide preventer. As it is now though, that rebar stuck into the slab will just pull out easily if it wants to move. Only other thing I would comment on is a lot of that old concrete used as filler looked rather large. So in a lot of places your new concrete looks pretty thin and will probably crack/craze there. At least it looked like it from here. Nit picks aside, its really nice to see you showing others that you don't need extensive experience or a garage full of fancy tools to tackle a lot of projects in an economical fashion. That and the semi-tutorial explanations sans crazy music/begging for Like/Subs is most likely why you're a 3M+ YT top flier.
Good to see that your helper is as strong and courageous as you. Getting to build decks, fences, and pour concrete with my dad are some of my most precious childhood memories. I know I wasn’t willing to help once the heat of the day arrived, either. 😂 Brilliant work as usual. I can’t stress it enough: You deliver top notch content and deserve way more subscribers. Thanks for showing off that MudMixer and your workflow with it. I’d have just thought to order the mixed concrete and a small pumper for a job that size, but now I’ll check with my rental store for one of those mixers first. Seems like a great way to manage a solo concrete project without all the pressure of deliveries.
Hey Claude. Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦. Wow, absolutely amazing concrete pour. The slab turned out awesome. As usual, you tackle projects with gusto, and you are always determined to complete your projects. You have a great little helper. Wonderful. Take care, buddy.
this video just reminded me I would take my daughter to every job and they come with "limited time only sign" 😅 to move ac units is a understanding beyond landscape great job
Outstanding job! Your little helper was crushin' it too. I need to do something similar, but only for my garbage cans and was hoping for a dry-pour situation. I learn something new every single time I watch one of your videos. Thank you for sharing them.
Nice work bro! Also glad to see your videos back on a regular schedule, I’m sure I speak for everyone to say it’s good to see your content and giving us all some confidence to try out these DIY projects. 🤝
Thank you! It's a grind to be a be a co-parent keeping the kid occupied, build, film, editing and everything else. I am trying to post more often with the limited time I have.
Beautiful slab! Ive been getting more interested in concrete recently and its really a kind of niche category as far as youtube videos go. Thanks for the video
Eventually, you'll get shown so many concrete videos that you could do like I did and just start putting the most relevant (to you) videos in a "Concrete" playlist. lol
@@OfficialJohnnyNelson I'm really looking into doing some renovations on my basement, was thinking of pouring my own egress window wheels since I hate the round ones and every other method is pretty expensive
You are one hardworking and smart man! I’m so impressed with your skills. Great job and your little helper is learning a little from you. The slab looks great as well as the sod.
You may consider finishing the surface with some kinda waterproof material. If there are chilly winters where you're living, ice can start cracks even on this nicely polished top.
Dude!!! You’re a f’n beast! You did all that slab work start to finish in under 3 hours? You deserve that machine. They should have sponsored it. Only question is shouldn’t that long a run of concrete have been cut up into smaller sections for expansion and crack proofing? I’m not a concrete guy but everyone seems to do that. I’d probably do it the same way as you. You rock!!! Can’t wait to see your bigger project. Any hints? A pool maybe??? Keep up the good work and glad to see you making videos again.
I post a lot of videos about the MudMixer as well and have tackle ridiculous large project with it. I admire your effort into getting good camera angles and narration while doing the work. Keep it up brother!
Your videos are so motivating and inspiring. Neat and clean, awesome working solo great job! Working with concrete is a tough job, working with my husband would take us probably months to complete the job! The outcome was beautifully done! thank you for sharing and inspiring.
Really polished up the space. Great content! I want some kind of similar set up for my side yard. I have 3 massive roll carts and it would be so nice to have them in a solid surface. But I may have to settle for pavers and gravel. That side of the house never sees sunlight so I just grow moss and lots of spiders. 😂
Dang. That's a ton of work! Been there before .. but without the really cool mixer. Great job! I did see that ground rod connection move .. maybe a good time to tighten it up. Really enjoyed watching. Thanks!
Actually he needs to replace it with a ground rod clamp, that is a water line clamp and not approved for that application nor is it approved for outdoor use or earth contact. Home Depot sells the proper clamp for less than 5 bucks.
It’s great to see you’ve enlisted your daughter as an apprentice. It’s wonderful for any young person to learn skills from their elders and develop a sense that they are capable of doing whatever needs doing, but it’s particularly valuable for young women to grow up without a stigma of frail femininity. Clearly you’re a fine father, and what’s more, a particularly fine girl dad. 🏆🥇👏😁
I did this but I ran it all the way up to my driveway and then all the way down the side of my house past a door to the garage and then around the back about 12 feet to hold my water softener equipment and garbage cans. My goal was to never walk on grass to go from front to back. I did all the form and finish work, but with so much concrete, I just hired a truck to come pour it. One of the best upgrades - it's nice to have a finished walk area around the side of your house - so many areas are just dirty and damp.
Looks great! Not being a concrete guy I have a few questions maybe you or your knowledgeable followers can answer. When do you decide rebar vs wire mesh? When are relief cuts (not sure that’s the correct term) needed? Glad to see you putting content back out!
You are not a 'One Man Crew" - you are a "One Man Army"! Awesome job!
The slab turned out awesome! You're a beast, handling all that work solo.
Thanks!
He didn't handle it solo. He had the best helper in the world (with an awesome, pink toolbelt)!
@@DarrLaw You're absolutely right! Touché

Yep, she was 😅
Nice sharingnya❤
Great to see your daughter helping out. She'll be a great builder too just like you. Always love your content cause I learn from you each time
Much love, I appreciate it!
I like the way you do your videos. Well cut and edited, great voiceover.
I appreciate that!
Amazing, a DIY channel on YT doing a slab with a proper wet mix and not a ridiculous dry mix. well done.

The Styrofoam hack was genius!!!!
Thanks, last-minute idea! I was trying to avoid making a small frame, went searching, and saw that.

At this scale, dilatation is not an issue - mainly because there is room for expansion to the dirt around.
