    FYI: The 'P' in the pigment name/numbers stands for the word 'Pigment': PB15 = Pigment Blue 15, PR254 = Pigment Red 254, PY138 = Pigment Yellow 138, etc....
    These are wonderful 😍🤩💖💝💫 Thanks for sharing these with us!!!

    I went for nine colours: all of set one, three from set three and just the orange grey from this set. There's also a fourth set of single pigment tones but I wasn't tempted by them.
    Only one painting so far (with loads of new birthday gear to try out) but it did sell in just a couple of hours!
    Pins in the lids is a good idea but, with me likely to be storing them horizontally in a box, I'm instead I'm going to try making some little metal spatulas out of foil takeaway cartons.

    I bought the original set when it first came out, I THINK 2 years ago? I enjoyed playing them in backgrounds - great fun, and it helped me embrace the chaos that can occur with uncontrolled watercolour - previous to this playing about, the overwhelming need to paint in a tight way, no matter the subject matter was getting in the way of my need for fun, and I always disliked and felt disappointed in my beginner watercolour attempts. I find Jackmans’ Chrystaline colours to give me better results than the few pots of Brusho I have, but they may simply be down to the colours I chose.
    Liz, I’m sorry, but I feel I must take you to task, I simply have no choice but to tick you off for feeding my out of control art supply purchasing - I had been blissfully unaware there were TWO sets, until now… I am lost… I feel a Jackmans website visit coming on… 🤷‍♀️😂😂😂 🖌️👩🏻‍🎨🎨🥰

    Those are a treat! What you said about the lightfastness issues of Brusho reminded me of a similar issue: have you ever tried Moonglow (by Daniel Smith)? It is also a mix of blue, green and some sort of red or magenta (like the shadow grey) and although DS claim it is lightfast, other people found it isn't. I just wondered if you had any experience with it and whether you'd use it in a painting. There are some "recipes" for mixing it yourself with French Ultramarine, Viridian and magenta or red, but so far I haven't been able to get the result I hoped for. I prefer the perylene green and violet mix you recommended in another video, which gives more or less the same dark only it doesn't granulate like Moonglow. Anyway, thank you for another lovely video!

    • @LizChadertonArt

      Hullo Liz, I have no problem with people experimenting with supplies. I have noticed that there is an attitude that shows a lack of concern for longevity, of how long an artwork is going to last! Sure if it is only for a sketchbook why bother? Well I was taught that a sketchbook was where you worked out ideas for larger creations! I know the prevalent attitude is I should just be able to photograph it or scan it digitally, this has nothing to do with how piece of original artwork will last. The tools and supplies you use matter for creating original art. Some companies have even been caught lying to their customers, yes I’m looking at you Daniel Smith! With no resultant penalties! Sorry went down that rabbit hole again. Good luck with your crystals I’m glad you’re having fun. But I will never waste my time it’s products I can’t replicate in final original artwork. Please take care be safe out there.

    • @LizChadertonArt
      @LizChadertonArt  Месяц назад +1

      @@mjpete27 that’s why I was excited to try these because they are pigment based and have good lightfastness. Brusho and equivalents are dye based and fugitive. These have longevity.
      On the other side, I think a sketchbook is also for enjoyment and doesn’t always have to be about a finished piece. Every doodle might lead somewhere or it might be enjoyable in the moment.
