  • This is a still video, taken from a campground in Monument, Oregon, on Aug, 21, 2017, before and after the eclipse. Monument was in the "path of totality". The camera is pointed at the hills below (but not directly at) the sun, so, while a viewer won't see the actual eclipse, a viewer will see its effects. The most interesting part of the video starts around the 17-minute mark. It's cool to jump back and forward to create a kind of time-lapse set of images. If you weren't in the path of totality, try to be in it for another eclipse. IMHO, there aren't any images - or words - that do justice to the sensation of the viewing of a total eclipse.
