    I have watched a gal in older times Clean wool oh my stars she was really ruff with it , beat it against the rocks cleaned it in the river. Her end product was beautiful. How is this possible?

      I've seen that. They did what they could in the day. They even used lye soap. I'm sure the wool was itchy and scratchy. We wool processors have evolved over time.
