I have the Kernom ridge and it’s actually amazing. I’ve sold all my overdrive pedals and use it with midi using the GIGRIG g3. It’s epic. The Moho fuzz is coming soon. Game changing stuff
Is it just me or have your guitar riffs improved substantially in the last few months? They sounds very unique, and inspired by QOTSA, which is excellent.
I just ordered one. I know this is basically a commercial but it honestly sounds good at all settings. As you were tweaking I didn’t hear a bad sound. They obviously spent some time tuning the sweep of the knobs and all to get the frequencies where they need to be.
What's cool about an overdrive that is an original design is the fact that there are only a finite amount of circuits that work well for sound. It's very difficult to come up with an OD pedal that is completely 100% original. Even the Tube Screamer started off as a clone of the OD-1.
No the tube Screamer has a totally different topography. It was indeed brought out to compete with that Boss pedal but Maxon found out Boss had patents good for another 3 years on it. What is true is that when Boss decided to replace the OD-1 with the SD-1 they cloned the the Tube Screamer but changed the clipping diodes so it made asymmetrical (tube like) distortion. The ts uses symmetrical distortion is in effect synth like. Maxon did that as it to was part of the Boss patent description on the OD-1.
@@Paul_Lenard_Ewing different topologies yes, however, it’s humble beginnings are traced back to the OD-1. Sometimes a simple little change in the value of 1 resistor will dramatically change the device into something new. Playing both an OD-1 and a Tube Screamer, they are definitely different sounding and feeling for sure.
I love the aesthetic. It looks like one of those 3D renders of software plugins. Definitely taking design cues from Native Instruments for the knob/indicator details
Every highly-prized pedal I can think of does basically one thing really really well. To me that’s because when a person is in the flow of playing music they want to just hit a button and get a sound.

As an electrical engineer, this sounds more like a new way to market an existing technology rather than inventing an entirely new one. I'd honestly be surprised if any guitar pedal ever introduced a new technology that didn't exist elsewhere first. I admit that it sounds really good, which is what actually matters. Unfortunately, guitarists generally choose hype over good sound, which is why companies need to market like this in the first place. (Edited to correct typos. I agree that there is a lot of marketing hype around this, but it needs a microcontroller to support midi. And since it stores presets, all knobs must control digital potentiometers. Sure this was done in the 90's for midi controlled amps/preamps, so nothing new. Still it is an interesting pedal that I would not mind hooking up to my distortion analyzer for a video.
@@eirikstor My guess is that the "Patented analog morphing core technology" is a digital pot in series with the diodes. Probably one to adjust hard clipping, and another for soft clipping.
