Just sayin'. Plus: He admits when he's heard something before and is hearing again until far into the song in plenty of videos, in his defense. It does happen, even in songs that, to others, seem ubiquitous.

Late reply but there's actually one live version (that's even on RUclips) where she performs it with Wagakkiband and it has the male vocals. As much as I think it's not needed I do jam out to the rap part every time without fail.
Fun fact: this song was the result of a compromise between Evanescence and the record label. The record label didn't think the band would be successful with just a female singer, so wanted them to hire a male vocalist as well. The band refused and left the initial meeting thinking they'd blown their chance. They then met again and agreed to feature a track on the first album featuring a guy singer.

Fun fact: this song was the result of a compromise between Evanescence and the record label. The record label didn't think the band would be successful with just a female singer, so wanted them to hire a male vocalist as well. The band refused and left the initial meeting thinking they'd blown their chance. They then met again and agreed to feature a track on the first album featuring a guy singer.

I know this is bout 4 months 2 late but a funny thing about this song. It has a connection with the movie never ending story. Its really old saw it when I was a kid. In the movie the main character reading the book has to save her by saying her name and what is he saving her from the nothing. I was 30 yrs old watching it with my daughter when I noticed it made me go listen to the song again.
