His voice was just fantastic 5 years ago and their performance had much more energy than today. But it's still always a pleasure to see these guys live. I've been listening to them since 1999.
I wonder what happened. I saw them live for the first time last november and was kind of struck at how his voice seems to have deteriorated vis a vis these videos from the ecliptica revisited era. I dont think its poor technique since he seemed at his peak around this time and I think he had lessons. Maybe just fatigue who knows. Anyway his performances around 2015 like this one are just fantastic
There are performances of The Power of One from The Ninth Hour tour where Tony really nails it. But since like late 2017 or early 2018 he has always sounded like he's sick and/or in constant pain when he tries to sing even the easier songs. Now they're even downtuning songs like Replica and Paid In Full.
Ville Salonen He was pretty much better than ever on most of the Ninth Hour tour so it’s not age, probably fatigue or injury. found a few sets on the Talviyö tour where he sounds normal and everything is as usual, but most of the time he sounded like something is wrong, and that’s probably the source of some of the weirder setlist choices. hoping he gets better :)

They rearranged the ending. It’s not without reason. It goes so high it shouldn’t be possible doing that bit for over 20 years without blowing your eyes out on vocals 😂 I love This song!

poor drummer... hecouldn´t really keep up with the double bass at 2:00. perhaps they should consider replacing him - or changing some of the faster songs´ arrangements...

Tommy has always been a very, very average, by-the-book drummer who never really displayed any kind of amelioration or evolution in his technique. It works, fine! Metallica has been able to work with Lars for 35 years, ain't it? But Tommy ain't a fantastic drummer and it shows sometimes. Like here.
