The video idea is to show Cyprus only when it was independent or was granted with great autonomy, as when it was a vassal of Ptolemy or when it was a British protectorate, not being a province of a greater country. Also this date actually marks the Venetian occupation of Cyprus, the Ottomans took control of the island in 1571. The video has nothing to do with ideology, if it was History of Turkey, from 1571 to 1878 Cyprus would be shown as being a part of the Ottoman Empire.
